6/29/20 Update: The meeting was held via ZOOM due to COVID-19 restrictions. Daybell was present from what appeared to be the Fremont County Jail, the judge was in the Fremont County Courtroom, and prosecutor Rob Wood appeared to be calling from his office in Madison County. “Based upon that amendment, we are doing an initial appearance or redoing an initial appearance on the same case number,” Judge Faren Eddins said. Bond kept at $1M. Judge said they won't address at this time. Preliminary hearing kept for August 3-4. 6/29/20 Update: Daybell was charged late Monday with 2 counts of conspiracy to commit destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence. Hearing for new charges scheduled on July 1st at 1pm.
7/1/20 Update: Daybell officially charged with an additional 2 counts of conspiracy to commit concealment, destruction or alteration of evidence. Next preliminary hearing on 8/3 & 8/4/20 for all charges.
7/17/20 Update: Special Prosecutor Rob Wood asks the Court to not allow video coverage of Daybell’s preliminary hearing in Fremont Co. for conspiracy charges. Wood says broadcast/live stream makes it more difficult to pick an unbiased jury. This is not a motion to close/seal the hearing. Wood says audio & transcript would be available so news organizations can still report on the preliminary if State grants the motion.

I think this is the first attempt at "distancing" LVD from CD - as her Atty he needs to give her an out (even if she is not choosing one right now). Also, it may be a clue that the formal paperwork in HI was never filed for marriage and they only did a ceremony (afterall, God knew they were married multiple times in previous lives . . . details, details).

Two thoughts:

1). This is the first thing I’ve seen Means say/do/write that hints he may kinda know what he’s doing after all. Or else he found a good paralegal. The first part is so similar to JP’s it’s clear the two attorneys consulted each other before filing.

2). Did you notice he’s referring to his client as “Lori Vallow (Daybell)”. The parentheses must be driving her nuts and that pleases me to no end.

That seems so foreign to me as to the laws in that state. Am I understanding correctly?

That in this state, where a felony starts out, it's presented to a judge who does misdemeanors and everything... and the preliminary hearing for murder would in a magistrate court (in my case, that's analagous to a small claims court/misdemeanor stuff and STAYS in that court) and only after the prelim, it escalates to a district court?

That seems so ?inefficient? as the lower court hears everything as to background and becomes intimately familiar with the case... and then swept to another judge in district court to start learning all over?

Where I live, the charges determine which court it goes to in the very beginning, and doesn't have to "go through a gate" of the magistrate court... it goes directly to state court so one judge on the case (most times) through the entire process.

Folks, do I have this right for those who viewed this video? I really want to nail understanding this.
