@LDS social scientist
In regards to what @Campizi67 said in the very well organized post about the beliefs and the operating concepts behind Lori/Chad and such group - I found that post to be VERY accurate, and reflected a lot of my own thoughts as I have heard from various people inside those groups lately.

I especially found it valuable that this overview explained who some of these people are because the non-LDS folks would have a tough time understanding a whole cast of scriptural characters and what they mean to LDS people if they have never read the Book of Mormon. (I don't expect anyone to read that for the sake of this story!)

Regarding the "going dark" or "zombie" references - I had the exact same thought long ago towards the beginning when we first began seeing references to their beliefs in the concepts of "going dark" or "dark spirits" or even the spurious "zombies" reference. It's a dehumanizing tactic that makes it a lot easier to take a life. This is a tactic that almost all serial killers use in various forms. The dehumanization of victims makes the killing so much easier and empowers the killer to take that life because in their mind they have already reduced the victim(s) to sub-human and therefore not worthy of any real remorse.

This is part of why I really do think the kids are gone. I will be DELIGHTED to be wrong if that is the case, but they stood in the way of this "all important mission", and just like Charles, why would there be any hesitation to find a way to dehumanize and be rid of any baggage so they can focus on this glorious mission of theirs?

**PTZ refers to a forum/website name "Pathway To Zion" run by author HS primarily. I've seen leaking from this already that has really opened my eyes to some things, but even more so on a level from inside membership of the LDS church. PTZ members seem to be a lot more homogenous regarding these belief systems whereas AVOW is very diverse with the surface preppers and then the sub-group operating from inside. They are fracturing big time.

*** I also do know that the leaked information I have seen is not allowed on websleuths. I'm not posting it here, and not going to discuss it until or unless it's in MSM or LE reports (doubtful).

Thank you :)

But... but... Chad and Lori ARE the infiltrating preppers. What could they have done to tee off prepper police officers in their fellow crazy infiltrating prepper pod?

Oh wait - other than kill and disappear children, I suppose. Police officers as a whole generally don't like this.

Except then they'd be gunning to hurt Chad and Lori, not the kids. *ponders*

ETA: If they need to protect JJ and Tylee, why aren't they "disappearing in order to protect" Chad's kids?

Based on my personal and professional experience working with LE, yes, depending on the jurisdiction they serve, it could be a factor. Not unlike when a convicted child molester is sentenced and then becomes the victim of prison violence. Typically, LE, whether local, County, state or Federal LE, are protective of children. MOO

I understand this.

But @KonaHonu, the OP's, contention was, if I have it correctly, that Chad and Lori were hiding the children so that LE could not HURT the children.

That LE was the threat necessitating the hiding of JJ and Tylee, not the saviors of JJ and Tylee.

We don't know they have absconded. Lori was not charged until she was already in Hawaii.
I doubt they bought tickets to Mexico because...no passport.

A least in Hawaii bail can only be set to ensure appearance at trial. While your statement that "the high bail just ensures incarceration until extradition" is absolutely correct, that is not a lawful reason to set bail high in Hawaii.
IRT absconding, I’m referring to them leaving ID for HI after lying to police, and a lesser extent failing to appear on that subpoena. I suppose that played into the high bail. IRT Mexico, you can buy tickets, you just need a passport to use them at the airport. I’m not taking Lori’s word that she doesn’t have one. I thought I read here they bought tix, but I don’t know for sure.

I would add that the Judge is very aware of how the locals feel about this also.

On the one hand, the whole world is watching. On the other hand, the judge is going to be judged by the locals based on her decision too. MOO
Yeah, she’ human too! So far I think a good judge. I need to get caught up on what she did with bail!

Slightly O/T but to elaborate on the issues of charming and attractive (alleged) criminals that have people eating out of their hands like LVD and the notorious Ted Bundy. I have experienced this phenomenon in real life during my time as a Senior LE Detective and in particular, the first time I came across it, it encroached upon my social circle for the first time ever in my career and it was not only difficult to navigate but it tested friendships once it became known that I was in charge of an investigation of a local Doctor who had been, over many years, sexually assaulting his patients. He was charming and attractive and had a host of seemingly good qualities and drew people in and to top it as he was a family man, wed to his childhood sweetheart of many years standing with 5 beautiful children to boot ... and when he was arrested initially for said crimes, I was present at social functions where people were openly talking negatively about how LE were so obviously wrong on this occasion and persecuting an innocent man and how the SIO in charge ( me although at that time, they were not aware of this ) , ought to be sacked and ostracised because of this persecution of the wonderful community Doctor who was being treated so unfairly! Until one day, I was at a charity ball when this rhetoric was again being spewed and another person in attendance who knew that I was in charge of the investigation, basically forgot the confidence placed in them because of their need to jump to my defence, and blurred out “Are you going to sit here and listen to this without responding and letting these people tarnish your good name ?” Or words to that effect ... As you can imagine, it was an ooppsss! moment on my friends behalf and a division of people within the room as to which side to stand on... From there on in , people kept their distance from me because I was responsible for causing him and his family this pain. Irrespective of the fact that there were victims here who deserved the kindness and misguided support that was being offered to this man, who was of high standing in our local community. It really was a difficult situation and it clearly showed to me two things:

1. You never really know someone

2. If you are intelligent, charismatic, attractive and believe in yourself and act like a superior being, people follow suit and put you on the pedestal that you put yourself on too and feel that you are beyond reproach because you couldn’t possibly have acted anything other than in the exemplary manner that you portray ...

It was very satisfying when the case was presented at Court and these same people got to hear or read about the downright disgusting behaviour and acts that this so called ‘pillar of the community ‘ had engaged in with his patients, people who looked up to and trusted him without equivocation.
What made it worse was that the whole reason that it all came to light was because this DR was caught masturbating in his car , in the car park of the local girls school and upon arrest, it was a notifiable offence and so the practice manager and ultimately the overseeing board , the GMC (general medical council) had to be informed. It was at this point that it came to light that some years previous, allegations of impropriety were made against this Dr, by patients, but the practice management decided that the allegations held no merit, after talking with said DR who charmed them and had them believe that it was all malicious and therefore, it was put to bed with nothing further happening or being brought to LE or the GMC! Had it have been followed up on as per protocol, many women would have been saved becoming victims and survivors in the first instance.
I apologise for going off topic slightly but it brought it home to me, as it does in this case that people’s views can be very much clouded and they can be easily manipulated by the presence of an attractive powerful charismatic intelligent person who exudes self belief!

To be fair, he converted to Mormonism after moving to Utah (I believe he was going to law school at the University of Utah). As someone else said, he was a member for a short time and was excommunicated immediately after his first conviction. At least that's what has been reported and it makes sense. However, he had people fooled and I've read that he got a lot of support, possibly even an attempt to raise bail money after his initial arrest, from his ward. There was a period (Ted Bundy through Mark Hoffman) when things were strange and sometimes a bit on edge living in Utah. :)

MOO

ETA: And forgot to point out that he was a serial killer well before he arrived in Utah, but I'd bet his conversion was to help blend in.

Hey fellow Rexburgers (lol, I kind of like that term). You know the sign on West Main, coming into town?

We need to get a banner under this saying: "Lori, where's yours?"

Well I guess it could be. I'll try to explain better.

For example, My best friend I trust him because:
- He always keeps his word. He says he does something he does it.
- He always keeps confidences, never talks behind my back.
- etc, etc.

Taking all of this into account I can make assumptions based on one's character, what is most likely.

So, if someone said he had asked my friend to do something that he had promised to do, and he claims my friend didn't do it. I would believe my friend based on his character.

I was wondering if Courts use something like this, or not.

I genuinely don't know. Not familiar enough with court cases to know.

Hopefully this makes more sense. Thanks
MOO

I can only answer this from a UK perspective but character witnesses are allowed to give evidence of good general character if the defence attack the character of the victims in the case , so basically to balance it out . Not sure if that helps or is what you mean

MELANI RESPONDS: In an explosive statement released by Melani Pawlowski’s lawyer, it states Melani Pawlowski (niece of Lori Vallow) does not know the whereabouts of her aunt’s children. Melani goes on to say her ex-husband has lied to wrongfully influence the child custody case and also blames the media for reporting “one-sided and unsubstantiated accusations.”

Melani then makes her own allegations against Brandon Boudreaux and denies being in a cult.

**Must read letter at the link :eek::eek:

My apologies but I have clicked on blue hi lights but can’t find any attached letter - am I doing it wrong? Any advice greatly appreciated thank you

Does anyone have access to the petition to quash or the appeal mentioned by LVD's attorney?
Not I. But there's this regarding said attorney and Fremont County Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney:
Two local attorneys seeking Seventh Judicial District Magistrate position

And it appears the position is yet open:
Idaho 7th Judicial District - Ballotpedia

I wonder how his involvement in this case will affect his chances at the position. He has some big shoes to fill in town here. Rammell was a good guy now in retirement, Moeller also before his appointment (Idaho Supreme Court - 2018).

This case could impact both their chances of the vote - Bartholick on the defense, Bischoff for the (Fremont) county if charges are brought in re Tammy's death.

ETA: Nevermind. I'm not batting very well tonight. Apparently, there's been a decision in the Magistrate position:

Hey sorry if this has been answered already but why did she have a new lawyer today?

Okay, so this might be petty, but CD seems to be chunking up again since his juice squeezer has been in the pokey.

Well if you're Petty then so am I, because I thought the same thing... like an emotional eater, and he was heavier before meeting Aerobics instructor/ image obsessed Lori. I do think it's a sign. MOO.
