This definitely goes against what the official LDS church teaches.
Not sure where they got this idea from either. The only thing that comes to mind, is that in the early days of the church, early 19th century they attempted to live what is called "The United Order" (
United Order).
To paraphrase it was: "Individuals shared property, goods, and profits, receiving these things according to their wants and needs"
Basically, it's similar to what home preppers are attempting to do. In ways, it is similar to how the Amish communities are.
This was abandonded though, primarily because they couldn't figure out how to make it work.
Obviously, this may fit into their overall cult thinking. End of days, extreme prepping, relying on natural cures, etc. Since even modern drugs are going to be in limited supply under Doomsday conditions. MOO
Side Note: I have found (For myself) that drinking 1-2 cans of Guava Juice (normally found in the hispanic section of most supermarkets), takes care of diarrhea. Not that this is related in any way. JMO
