I just found this forum yesterday.

I have both a brother and a sister that lives in the apartments where Roberts mother lived. My brother and his family lived in a different building, but my sister lived in the same building. Earlier that evening one of my nieces was playing with Robert. She went to talk to another one of my nieces and when she went back to the playground he was gone. If it wasnt for that I myself would question if he actually went missing that day or prior.

I do know that on the Thursday they searched the apartment my sister was outside on her balcony when the cops swarmed in out of nowhere. She said they went right to the bf's vehicle (Im assuming that was the red suburban) and yelled "I've got a positive". What exactly that meant she wasnt sure.

It was that next day when the word was they were investigating some "turned dirt" at a home. I cant help but wonder if the body had originally been taken to this house and later removed and taken to the nearby canal.

I had asked the question over and over how they could have got his body out of the house without being seen. The only thing I can think of is the Friday night he went missing his body was in the apartment when it was called into the police. They kept stressing he may be spending the night at an unknown friends house. If they gave the police reason at least for that night to think it wasnt anything more then a kid taking off then they probably wouldnt have searched every little space in the apartment or vehicle. It would be reasonable that sometime in the middle of the night when things were clear the body could have been moved to the home where the turned dirt was. Of course this is all speculation, but I cant come up with any other way this child could have been removed dead or alive from this complex without someone seeing him. Knowing that he was playing with the kids and within a few hours he was called in missing. This is a fairly large apartment complex. By 10ish when he was called in it would have been only dark for maybe 45 minutes. On a Friday evening when it was still light someone would have seen something if that body would have left. Even if it was made to look like a sleeping child it would have been seen. IMO......

Do you happen to know what time it was that your niece was playing with little Robert, and when she returned to find him no longer there?

Welcome to WS!

I havent talked to my niece myself, but from talking to my brother it was around 7:30 when they were playing on the playground. I'm sure this poor little girl has been questioned over and over and over again.

I dont know anything about him. I have no idea what kind of child he was. I have been curious of all these things, but have made a point not to ask. I think when someone has to repeat information over and over because people are curious details get lost. This little boy reminds me so much of my nephew who is his same age and height.

Maybe I watch too many crime shows (CSI, Special Victims Unit, etc) and they call the next of kin for a positive ID. They can usually get it but probably still need to get DNA and all that legal stuff too. Wouldnt they have called Charles Manwill to get an ID on little Robert? If he had been in the water since the 24th of July and his face so bloated he would have been unrecognizable...maybe thats why they have to wait for the coroner to get a positive ID..Sorry to be so gruesome.

Several several years ago my uncle was thrown into the Payette River. It was a while before they finally found his body, but when they did they wouldnt let family see it. They said the body wasnt in a condition for family to see. It would be within reason to think this was also the case with this boy found today. Also knowing that the father has already lost one child they may not have wanted to put a father through that even if that was an option.

An aunt of Robert's (father's side) posted in her facebook page at 6pm tonight they were waiting for DNA and dental records results! I would really like to know how and when he was put in the cannal. He couldn't have been there very long! I hope justice is served and EVERYONE involved gets caught!

Im sure they already have been told its likely him. I mean at the presser they all but came right out and said it. I dont recall anyone saying "lets not give up home because this might not be him". It was the opposite. I think if there was any hope at all the family would have been shown in that presser. It kind of reminds me when the Dr does an ultrasound and says "well I cant be sure, but it looks like a ____". The Dr knows, but for the sake of lawsuit he isnt going to say for positive.

atstephens9, I see you are new to WS as well!!! Please note I've added you to the welcoming! So glad you are here, too!!!!

Welcome to WS Idaho-native!

I'm wondering if anyone recalls a suitcase or box or something being taken to a car?

Sorry if this has been posted. There have been so many articles today it's hard to keep track. But even if it has, I'm posting it again, cuz I thought the last part, what I underlined, was....very interesting.

Neighbors react to news of body found in canal

[snip]

On Monday night dozens of people, friends, and neighbors showed up at the memorial site continuing to show their support for Manwill and his family. While many have remained so hopeful, others fear now with the latest news that the body pulled from the New York Canal may belong to Robert.

[snip]

Members of Manwill's family did show up to the memorial site on Monday evening, including his mother. They continue to ask for privacy right now, waiting to see what will be released Tuesday. They did thank the community for showing support and appreciate the site that has been established outside Robert's apartment.

My brother and his family were shown on the news. I will ask him tomorrow if the mother and/or bf was there

Idaho-native, Did you ever hear anything about the birthday party that Robert wanted to attend?

The last I heard was the birthday party was never real. When I first heard he was missing and that he may be spending the night with an unknown friend I thought that sounded strange. Now that we know he didnt live there it makes even less sense that he would have been at a birthday party that none of the other kids knew about. It never made sense from day one when they kept saying on the news he may be spending the night with a friend. As a mom I was thinking "so why dont you check with all the friends to get that out of the way". They used that unknown friend thing for a few days.

Thats why I think the parents used the friend story as a way to take focus off the apartment for at least a short time so something could be done with the body before it was discovered the story was made up.

thank you for the welcome, sad it's such a sad reason I found this fourm! I have to say, all the research you all do, is amazing! I thought I was the only one out there that was so weird to look up every detail in a case! I would find something and someone on here already posted it! it's great to find common ground here!

I hope it's not to odd to say, but in one way I wish this boy found in the canal was not Robert, but in another light, if it is it will get the family some closure!

It would be terrible to never know! Like Stephanie Crane here in Idaho it's had to have been 20 years now and her mother I believe died of a broken heart never knowing what truly happen to her! God Bless you Lil Robert and Stephanie

I'm glad you found the rest of us weirdos! ;) There are so many cases out there that may just never get any answers. I'm with you in hoping that Robert's family can get "closure", if there is such a thing, or at least some answers in knowing where their little boy is.

It is hard for me to believe that the Mom and BF would still have Robert in the apartment after they had called LE. LE I am sure was in their apartment interviewing them as to why Robert was gone..that is way to risky.

*Heavy heavy sigh * This is so incredibly sad.

I'm curious. When was the last time anyone here saw a missing child case where the mother was absent during the pressers? I'm trying to recall. I understand being absent if your child has been the victim of a crime and has been located and you are devastated. But to not be around at all? That is so weird to me. I'd be screaming from the rooftops like a frigging lunatic, begging and crying and pleading.

I commented on thread #1 what I thought happened and I haven't changed my mind. But if Robert did indeed drown and this is just a tragic accident, I'll be back on later to get my foot out of my mouth and eat humble pie.

Prayers and thoughts to Robert's family if this is him, which I fear it is.

RIP little one :blowkiss:

Oh I can think of a certain Casey Anthony who holed up in her atty's office, high=fiving her brother that she was able to escape the media. Smiling all the time; not a care in the world.

My theory is mom killed Robert, then with the help of the BF, dumped him in the canal.

I agree that it would be way to risky. I just dont see how they could have moved this boy without anyone noticing something.

The other thing that is hard for most of us to remember is people like that have a very different mentality. They commit these crimes believing in their own mind they are gonna be able to out smart the law. If they were under the influence of some kind of drug whats to say in their mind they didnt have a "master plan"
