What happens next: A disorderly conduct charge for a false crime report is a Class 4 felony and punishable by up to three years in prison and a $25,000 fine.

Cook County Judge James Linn will have discretion in imposing a concurrent or consecutive sentence for each count at a later date.

Counts 1-5 alleged that Smollett gave a false report to police on the day of the would-be attack - Jan. 29, 2019. Count 6 -- the only count on which he was acquitted -- alleged that he gave a false report two weeks later, on Feb. 14.

I'd love to hear from the jury about why that last count was different than the prior 4....but I doubt they will want to talk to anyone after this verdict. They probably want to remain anonymous.
