how does a 14 y.o. have the wherewithall to successfully disappear?

at the risk of stating the obvious, I assume LE has checked home computers to see if she was chatting with someone online.

I'm in the next state over and I have never heard of this little girl.. Wanted to make sure I give her a good bump.. She needs some media because something doesn't sit right with me...

Police Chief Steve O’Connell said, “There’s a very large percentage of people in this community who know Chyenne. We describe her as a social butterfly. She’s out and about and she can be anywhere in town. ”

and

Police say people who’ve seen her picture say they’ve spotted her in Dubuque. A recent k-9 unit search suggested the same thing.

O’Connell said, “we believe we were following some of her activities in town and some of those actually led us to Dubuque. ”

They need to be checking the homes (basements, closets, attics) of her friends and acquaintances in her age group.

I ran away from home at 13. I was gone for a week. The entire time, I was hidden out in a friends attic, less than a mile from my home. When the friends parents would leave for work during the day, I would come down into the main house. When they were home, I was secreted in the attic.

It probably would have lasted a lot longer before I was caught, except the friend hiding me couldn't resist the urge to skip school and her absence from school raised red flags and caused the police to come and search the house.

My prayers are with her family, who must be worried sick. I hope she is found soon and whatever triggered this rash and dangerous move can be resolved.

Lori Lyons, of East Dubuque, talks about the disappearance of her daughter, Chyenne Kircher, 14.

O’Connell said, “we sent her note along with numerous samples of her handwriting to the state police lab. A handwriting specialist who compared her homework along with the note and they’re written by the same person.”

9 wks is a long time to be gone at 14 yrs old.

^^This is the most informative article I have seen.

There has not been anyone looking for this girl. The LE went around with bloodhounds twice from the house. But nothing since then. They put up fliers about it but that is about it. I know if my family member is missing I am going to overturn every rock that is out there. I know everyone deals with it differently, but there just doesn't seem that there has been alot done.

Almost 3 months since she has disappeared. I am shocked that she has not been found yet if she has run away. Most kids will run away to a friend's house and are found fairly quick.

Where is she?!

No mention that I've seen of whether she had access to a computer or a cell phone with access to any kind of social media. I'm worried she could have been lured by someone. This is an awfully long time for such a young girl to be missing. I wonder if she had "help" running away? So scary....praying she is found safe.

I wish we knew even the basic facts about Chyenne's life and family. We don't even know if she has siblings or if she was in any extracurricular activities at school. Her mother has been interviewed, but where is her father? Has she always lived in E. Dubuque or did the family move there (either recently or not)?

I find this case so frustrating and upsetting that we don't even really know where to start looking for Chyenne.

The school is having a tribute to Chyenne to bring back some awareness to help find this child. Each student will let a balloon go in memory of her. Someone has to know something. I just dont understand how she hasnt been found!

Thanks for the update, lookingindubuque! I can't believe Chyenne hasn't been found. I check the internet often for updates and there aren't any.

The clear blue sky over East Dubuque High School filled with hundreds of bright yellow balloons Tuesday as students remembered one of their own who is not with them.

Chyenne Kircher, 14, has not been seen or heard from since after the school day ended on Oct. 13. She was in the East Dubuque freshman class, but the entire high school turned out for the brief ceremony Tuesday at the end of the school day.

Bumping for Chyenne who has been missing for a year now.

A 14 year old girl-now 15- can't go "missing" alone, on her own for more than a year in a town that size.

In the beginning, it was noted that residents say she was spotted in town.

I know that WS is a victim friendly site, but c'mon what was going on in this girl's homelife that she felt the need to runaway?

Why in the world didn't her immediate family do more interviews?
Why was LE so lax in bringing her home after they said that they were following her activities?

I have seen more action in truancy cases where children skip school than in this one where a young girl ran away!

Praying she returns home safely soon.
She may feel grown up, but there are far too many willing
and waiting to take advantage of the vunerable.

Cheyenne, if you read this call your parents or 911.
They just want you home safe and sound.
Praying for you.

WOW..its been a year now since Chyenne went missing. Unbelievable.

Im wondering.....if we started all over again and really try to figure out where she is,maybe dig a little harder, try to few new avenues...IDK :dunno:

I realize there isnt much info out there about this little gal...but,that never stopped you amazing WSers before!;)
