And you had the murder of a woman in Chesterfield just two days ago where they arrested a guy wanted out of Texas. He was living in Medora.

Yes I knew of this one also. The southwestern school was on lock down during the chase.

Also there was the case of a 48 yo holding son in a stand off last week which locked down Gillespie schools, Dairy Queen , and a church. Swatt was brought in for this.

For being so small crime does happen in our area alot.

My mistake, I thought the 2003 murder of Angela Lee in East Gillespie was unsolved. They apparently caught a guy from Litchfield. I have lived here for years, but have always worked in the bigger cities. I sometimes miss local news. This one has gotten some Facebook traction, so hopefully the publicity will help locate her.

I thought that was one you might mention. Yep caught him. He worked for Cavallo bus across street. Had a psychic come in to try and figure it out also.

Been Google searching, but haven't seen any MSM reports that are less than 2 days old so far....

I found her other names:

Denita M Dyer (maiden name)

Denita M Plunkett (first marriage - divorced 8/28/06)

Denita M Hedden (second marriage - divorce filed 10/5/17 status set for 2/13/18)

It's interesting that she has court cases with/against her soon to be ex-husband dating back to 2004, when she went by her maiden name, and also Plunkett. Seems like they have a long history.

I'm pretty sure that there is going be a focus on a man in her life. Not sure if it's the ex or the roommate.

I agree. It seems like both of her husbands either had orders of protection against her, or she had against them. The roommates rap sheet is concerning as well.

My money is roommate.
I dont know ex but his son and my son went to high school and played baseball together. Pretty good kid (well man now my OJ is 28)

Well, a new article. The Major Crimes folks suspect foul play in Denita's disappearance and have a person of interest but they did not share that persons name with the media.

Investigators with the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis have identified a person of interest in the case and provided information to the Macoupin County State's Attorney's Office, Madison County Sheriff's Lt. Kris Tharp said Tuesday.

Tharp, deputy commander of the Major Case Squad, said a "myriad of factors," including evidence investigators found during an extensive 7-day search by land and air, led investigators to their conclusion. He did not release more details.

INVESTIGATORS TELL FAMILY OF MISSING WOMAN THEY BELIEVE SHE IS DEAD

After 12 days of exhaustive searches, investigators in Macoupin County told the family of a missing mother they believe she’s dead and that foul play was involved. A person of interest has been identified in the case.

We spoke with family members moments after they got word from investigators.

“That they have strong beliefs that she’s deceased,” says Raymond Dyer, Denita’s brother.

When he got word, Raymond quickly gathered the family together.

“We all need to hold each other together on this,” he explains.

Dyer said the hardest part was revealing the news to Denita’s four young children.

Foul play is suspected: Person of interest identified in Denita Hedden case

"No information related to the evidence in this case will be released at this time," Lt. Tharp said. "The facts and circumstances surrounding this case have been provided to the office of Macoupin County State’s Attorney Jennifer Watson."

Just from being local I know some of the things involved with the search, which of course I won't mention since the police are keeping it under wraps. However, I do believe based on the type of searching they've done, they probably have some really good circumstantial evidence to base the theory she is dead on.

Based on LE turning this over to the State Attorney for the county it pretty much means that unless someone searching their property finds her first the State will have to cut a deal with their target for a lesser charge/sentence in exchange for her body. Hopefully when they were searching they targeted properties of people that were known connections to their person of interest.

I have been fixated on the so-called "roommate" considering the upcoming trial for felony DUI with injuries related to the vehicle crash with ejection the two of them were involved with the year prior. Since they were both ejected I am sure it would require the prosecutor to have the person that was not driving testify as to who was driving unless Mr. 100+ court cases volunteered that information.

In the report from last year about the auto accident, it listed Denita as the passenger, the other as the driver.

The driver of the vehicle was Rudolph Jackson, 52, Royal Lakes, IL., and passenger was Denita Hidden, 36, Gillespie, IL

Not that it couldn't have something to do with testifying about something about the accident, other than who was seated where.

The accident was one year ago. Odd that person would be either dating or roommates with someone they thought may have to testify later. That's a lot of work if the plan is just to get rid of them before a trial, which could be done without dating or moving in together.

I have a feeling it's a more personal matter. It's confusing reading reports and things about current husband, ex husband, roommate, fiance etc, sometimes difficult keeping straight who is who. Messy. I'm thinking that mess is perhaps a reason/motive. JMO

I come back to what LE had to say (which is always possible to be less that truthful) which was that they didn't think he was involved.

Hedden and her husband, Michael Hedden, were in the process of getting a divorce, according to court records. She filed an order of protection against him in 2016. However, Tharp said Michael Hedden is in the area, and police believe he had no involvement in her disappearance. “He has been 100 percent cooperative, as has the rest of her family — we’ve had no issues whatsoever,” he said.

I should have explained better, I'm in agreement with who you're fixated on, I'm just thinking it's not due to to testifying about who was driving or the court case in general. I'm thinking its a more personal matter.

I understand. Something like that is possible. In that regard, for me, it would depend on whether or not there was yet another guy somewhere in the picture which is possible but I hadn't seen anything out there pointing that way. If it turned out that she had gone to the casino with a guy then I would be right there with you.

Otherwise I am left with a guy that through 100+ cases managed to do so without incurring much, if any, jail time and now was looking at anywhere from 1 to 12 years.

I suppose it will have to wait until the State Attorney files any charges to learn what this was all about or even who the POI is since we haven't been told.
