Considering that the person law enforcement won't name was a person that actually had been elected to county office (and subsequently removed from office by state legal action since he was a felon and as such wasn't eligible to stand for election) he most likely knows people in the political machinery of the county this case is going to require intervention from the state or federal level to come in and take the case over. My guess is he can cause other people to lose their elected or appointed positions and/or end up in jail for crimes unrelated to Denita's disappearance. Absent that outside intervention I don't see how this case moves forward.
