15 months ! Wow ! Good thing he's got money and power. That means you can rape kids apparently!
 
i wish it was a longer sentence. I am appalled that there were people who wrote letters for leniency.

He wasn't sentenced or prosecuted for raping kids. The statute of limitations has long since expired on the sexual abuse. He was convicted and sentenced for the illegal structuring of bank transactions. It's an insult to his victims to suggest his sentence was for child molestation.

Instead of suggesting his money and power allowed him to rape kids, perhaps those disgusted by his actions should fight to change the law regarding statute of limitations on sexual abuse against children.

You're right. I honestly do keep forgetting this case is about the 'money' and not the molesting. TY for setting me straight.

This case hurts on a personal level, In that my family was gob smacked to hear beloved 78 year old grandfather had been a pedo. He chose suicide over coming to terms with his victims (his own grandkids). No closure there. Coward.

So, why are they giving this the time to get brave enough to take the cowards way out? He's been free forever. Lock him up before he, or nature takes its course. He must pay. He deserves to suffer. Everyone else did. So what he's old. Jails full of old men. Boo hoo. June 22. He can do alot in a month.

However, this case was about the violation of post 9/11 financial institution regulations.

Your right. I forget that he wasn't charged for sexual misconduct. I still want to see him serve time. He's most likely destroyed many lives.

There is something so very satisfying that it was a sky is falling banking law enacted shortly after 9/11 (and wouldn't have made a difference if it was the law pre-9/11) which he pushed for as Speaker which was directly responsible for his world crumbling in every way possible.
 
This disgusting child molestor needs to be fully investigated, including his activities after he moved to Washington DC. Most of us here have followed enough cases to know that pedophiles don't stop molesting kids. We need to know what he was doing all the years he was in Congress. Convene a grand jury and start issuing subpoenas to his friends, former staffers and Congressional pages and interns. He shouldn't be allowed to walk away from years of child rape just because he's a member of Congress .

Human garbage.
 
James Doe v. Dennis Hastert jury trial set for February 2021

After it being in court for more than four years, the jury trial for a civil $1.8 million breach-of-contract case between former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert and a man known as James Doe is set to begin early next year.

Kendall County Chief Judge Robert Pilmer set the jury setting date for the case at 1 p.m. Feb. 17, 2021 at the Kendall County Courthouse, with the jury trial expected to begin the week of Feb. 22, 2021. He confirmed he wanted Kristi Browne, lawyer for Doe, and John Ellis, lawyer for Hastert, to keep Feb. 18 and 19 open as possible jury selection dates.

The case is next due back in court for a status hearing at 11 a.m. Jan. 8, 2021

Doe, a former wrestler at Yorkville High School, is suing Hastert – who served as a congressman from 1987 to 2007 and was U.S. House Speaker between 1999 and 2007 – for not paying in full an allegedly agreed upon $3.5 million in hush money. He has accused Hastert of sexually abusing him when Hastert was a teacher and wrestling coach at the high school.

Doe is seeking $1.8 million from Hastert plus interest. The lawsuit that has been in court for more than two years. Hastert allegedly paid Doe $1.7 million between 2010 and 2014, according to court documents. Hastert also is countersuing Doe for the amount that was already paid, alleging that Doe violated their confidentiality agreement.

The civil case has been in court since April 2016.
