Chicago-area task force involved in kidnap incident near Heyworth

From the article- The kidnapping victim was not with the truck driver or at the scene. That person's status was not available Saturday; police did not release the name of the suspect.

This incident was 12 days ago.

The kidnapping suspect has still not been named, and the kidnapping victim still has not been named.

Pretty unusual for a kidnapping case, but obviously this information is sensitive to the investigation.

Hopefully, because LE believes that Erica could be alive.

Exactly. The person of interest lawyered up and said nothing. If it is him then this was a domestic incident. They cant name him unless he is charged. We need to find that car folks. It is a weird looking thing and it is purple with Illinois plates. Thank you for your help.

Could the car be inside the semi truck? It would stick out being purple and could be easily hid inside he truck. Is the person that was kidnapped Erica?

Good idea but no the car was not with the truck. We dont know the answer to your second question. But we do know the truck driver was involved with Erica off and on over the last few years. And we know authorities wanted to question him about her. And we know when police tried to stop him he ran and literally burned the tires off the truck trying to get away. And even then he had to be pepper sprayed to get him out of the vehicle.

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear this. Wow. No doubt in my heart he's involved.

I wonder if his cell phone pinged in the same spots as Erica's?

The kidnapper in the article was a trucker. Springfield MO was her last cell phone ping. This is 500 miles from the Chicago area, and a 7:30 hr drive. I would suggest this is a trucking route from Chicago to the southwest.

I think Erica's car will be found somewhere much closer to home, in Brookfield, Illinois.

Done. Thank you I did not know about this

Oh my! Come on Erica, be okay!! This dude is definitely involved and I don’t like that he scurried like a rat. MOO
My heart sank when I read these last posts and the news article.
Does Erica's vehicle have any location tracker on it? I don't recall if that's been asked and answered earlier, if anyone knows. It does hearten me to know LE has had some clues and direction to go on, which we did not know before.
It's so important that Erica's name and vehicle info and last known date seen are kept in the media and public eye. Prayers for her family!

I do not think there is enough MSM or SM mentions or discussions about this case; let’s do our thing WS. MOO

I realized how dumb my question was re: whether or not Erica's vehicle was equipped with any GPS locator.. If it was, I'm sure LE would have already found the vehicle.
I sure hope LE can name a person of interest or suspect very soon.
Bump!

By truck driver, I'm assuming 18 wheeler/large semi? If she is very familiar with the truck driver, is it possible they met up at/near his truck? Have truck stops/rest stops and those sort of places been looked at in terms of locating her vehicle?

My first thought on this case is that we really don't know what the state of her house was other than "unusual." The dishes could literally be whatever she ate dinner on, and by the bed a mug of tea that went moldy. The cats vomiting seems normal if they were left alone for days, especially if they were stressed. The door was open, so they could have been sampling any number of edibles outside they weren't used to. Cats also just vomit hairballs on a regular basis so that detail, to me, is just further indication that she had not returned and had been gone awhile.

The delay to report is worrying. Is there not a neighbour or mailman or LE patrol that could have noticed her door wide open?

The phone's path makes me think dumping evidence. But if this is foul play, whoever left her house in such a state is disorganised so it makes sense they wouldn't check her for the phone or not realize it was just in sleep mode. But then its most likely they killed her in the house and wouldn't there be substantial evidence in that case? If it was left on by a killer to divert attention, why leave the house in that state? I wonder if the door was left open because whoever left it that way actually had some empathy for the cats being left there and wanted to give them an escape. This would mean that person knew Erica wasn't coming back whether it was her or someone else.
It was the backdoor that was open. I drove by her house. She has a tall, solid fence. If the gate was closed no one passing by would know the door was open.
