Summary:

Judith Mae Andersen, 15, was the only daughter of four children born to Ralph and Ruth Andersen of Chicago, Illinois...

On 16 August 1957, a Sunday night, Judy phoned her mother at 11:00 pm to ask if she could stay later at her friend's house to finish watching a movie. Her mother said no, and Judy began the 20-minute walk home alone, three quarters of a mile away.

She never arrived home.

On 22 August 1957, an oil drum was discovered in Chicago's Montrose Harbor. It contained body parts, but police were unable to identify the victim.

On 24 August another drum was found, containing a human head, two hands, and an arm. The body was positively identified as Judith Mae Andersen. She had been shot four times in the head.

No one has ever been charged with her death.

Does anyone have a copy or link to the original LA Times article that went into great detail about this case?
The links in this thread do not go there.

I'm beginning to think she may have actually stayed to see the end of the movie thinking she could make up the time hitchhiking back home and picked the wrong driver. Otherwise, wouldn't Elena have called her at 11:30 to tell her how it ended? If that's what happened, then the Abbatacolas might have kept quiet thinking they could be held accountable somehow. Of course, they would not be responsible in any way for Judith's decision.
