so if he was behind them, and Libby was facing away from him, how could they see him approaching? Or did he pass by them, and then turn back?
Well, they must have been aware of him, since they mentioned him in the video. Maybe they noticed him before that, or at some point while she was taking pictures. She may have taken pictures from different angles and facing both directions.
Either way, I don't think they realized he was a threat until the last minute. He wasn't even looking towards them in the video. I think he was purposely trying to look as if he barely noticed them and was just going about his business until he started the attack so he could take them by surprise.

I didn't expect anything to happen in the 2 weeks. I think we were all so hopeful that it was a sign but when you're desperate you read thing into words that really isn't there.

rsbm

But why specifically "two weeks?" Of course we hear often to give the family space, privacy, etc. But I've never heard a time limit put on that. I really wish someone in-the-know (like a retired FBI agent) would weigh in on that. I don't think they touched on that in the Best Case Worst Case podcast.

It doesn't matter if the perp is adopted. It doesn't matter one bit.

DNA would still lead to the right person. DNA is not based on who a person says their parents are. DNA will still lead to the bio family and lots of bio cousins.

JMO.

What if the bio family is unaware of the adopted individual? An original birth record may have been amended, or may never have existed. A birth mother could have left a newborn behind at the hospital, or given birth anywhere and later abandoned the child. An agency will place the child without identity. Back door adoptions also happen outside of agency placement. No one in the woman’s bio family may have a clue that the baby ever existed. Except the mother - and she would have no idea where the newborn went. The mother could even be now deceased.

JMO.

Thank you for posting this video.

The reporter asks, "Was there DNA evidence found at the scene of the crime?"

The investigator answers, "I think in every crime scene you have, you're gonna have DNA."

Once again, look at the semantics. It is stating the obvious but not answering the question.

Hmmm. Not in case of Jayme Closs though. Perp shaved his head before crime, made other preparations to not shed any DNA.

Haven’t seen it mentioned lately, but BTK was caught, in part, through family DNA.

The team learned that Rader's daughter had recently been in the hospital for a pap smear. Under a judge's order, the hospital gave investigators a sample of the daughter's DNA. In 24 hours, the results came back. It was a familial match. That's all police needed to pick up Dennis Rader.

Police Use DNA to Track Suspects Through Family

The ISP have a crime lab that utilizes all of the best techniques for DNA analysis (that's not even considering FBI resources), if any DNA was collected from the crime scene, they would have some sort of profile by now. IMO they don't have one and this case is relying on other forms of physical evidence or witness testimony in order to produce an arrest.

"Monday marked two weeks since new information was released in the Delphi double homicide investigation, and State Police spoke to News 18 about the changes.

While Sgt. Kim Riley wouldn't give any more details on why police changed the sketch, he said it makes investigators feel closer to catching the killer.

"We just feel this is a more accurate account of what we believe is the possible murder suspect in this Abby and Libby case," said Riley.

However, he said police have received a lot of new information on people who live in the area since releasing the sketch. That's important, because investigators believe the killer has close ties to Delphi"

Police are still hoping for fresh tips about one piece of information released in the news conference.

"We're still looking for the car that was parked in the lot," Riley told News 18. "If somebody can give us that information, we want that information as quickly as possible."

The importance of the car also ties into why police now believe the killer is local. Riley said after reviewing many tips, investigators determined he was able to get around quickly on the day the girls were killed, and seemed to know the area.

The car would have been seen between noon and five on Feb. 13, 2017 at the old DCS parking lot, according to police. The office is on County Road 300 North near the Hoosier Heartland Highway. The building has since been demolished and the lot is vacant.

Since police believe the killer is local, and because the case has received so much of their focus over the last two years, News 18 also asked Riley if there was a chance the killer could be someone police have already interviewed.

"Somebody may have already interviewed him," said Riley. "I'm not going to say they have or have not, but there's a possibility that has happened. The person apparently gave the investigating officers the information they were looking for. We have to try to go back and check on the information that we have received."

I’m a little confused by this last part

What’s the context here?

Are they thinking someone they interviewed may have given them incriminating answers without realizing it?

Also it now says car not just vehicle.

They are thinking that some of the interviews they conducted checked out at the time but might not hold up under closer scrutiny. IMO The level of scrutiny an investigator would give to someone being interviewed for information rather than someone being looked at as a POI is totally different.

Thanks. This bit is fascinating. Seen at diff parts of trail by diff witnesses? Other areas of Town?

Wow, that is crazy!! I wouldn't think that is even legal!

Opinion - I think it means that vehicle at the abandoned building along with other info, has led LE to believe, that someone has lied to them about where they were on the 13th....moo

Thanks for that.

This bit is fascinating......

I think the timeline LE has is far more detailed than what can be put together from the information currently available to the public. Who knows, they might have some footage of the suspect vehicle in town immediately preceding or following the crime giving them an even better idea of his movements.

I'm guessing that the person who owns the car gave them info on why and when the car was there. As to who was driving said car and proving it, is what le are working on. imo

I'm guessing that le know what car and where and when it was parked, and who owns it. What they are working on now is who? Who was driving or being driven in that car? And if he /they had been seen by any witnesses. Moo Makes me wonder what reason was given for the car being there.
Visiting the cemetery maybe? Moo

I hope you're right because asking someone to come forward NOW and remember a car they saw there 2+ years ago out of the blue seems impossible.

The one thing that does bother me is that it's bringing me back to RL; I keep thinking that he'd feel even more secure there, and have an easier chance getting to and from there, if he knew that RL was going to be gone that day. I don't think RL knew anything about what he was planning, or what he had done, but it's possible that BG had overheard RL talking to someone about going to Lafayette (or wherever he was) that day, or RL may have even asked him for a ride. I guess that's enough of my story telling since I have no facts to back up anything I'm thinking about.

Snipped for Focus
You bring up a very interesting point. I hadn't heard that RL wasn't home that day. Add to that, that something RL said about how his son and "friends" used to play down there as children. That immediately made me think it was someone local and someone who used to play down there and perhaps as they got older also frequented the bridge as teens would do. An element of risk. That's not saying this person still lives in Delphi (but maybe does) but may still have strong connections there. I think LE know they are now on the "right track" so-to-speak. JMO
