BTW, IMO, RL should've been one of the first people LE investigated. The bodies were found on his property. If I were investigating the first thing I do is either eliminate him as a suspect or not.

I agree. Hopefully they did, but stranger things have happened. In the Deorr Kunz, Jr., case the sheriff immediately declared the parents good, chastised SM for questioning him/them, and allowed them to help search for him unsupervised on an ATV (evidence disposal opportunities!! :gaah. Annnnd....the parents were later named as the suspects. :doh:

Exactly. When it comes to a case as important as this one, you do not want to take anything for granted and have evidence that could solve the crime tossed out later in a court of law because a search warrant was not issued.

I think there is a still photo showing a truck being taken away on a flatbed. If that is RL's truck-- to me that is a significant development. Someone wants that truck and wants to search it top to bottom for hair, fibers, blood, anything that could be connected to those two girls. Luminol spraying on the interior, truck bed, fingerprints.

A guy I went to college with really did try to do that. Second degree burns...lucky for him he hadn't set it to the proper temperature or it would have been worse.

I, too, have thought he may be sober, (as in a recovering alcoholic). Sadly, my personal experience with those in recovery were that they had deep anger issues, Some eventually worked through them, others not so much. We unkindly call them "dry drunks".

IMO: He's probably not sober. He violated the terms of his probation. There is nothing dry about this guy.

He's no Victim, he lied to Police, and may have done irreparable harm to the case. Many of these cases are never solved. That is a real danger here.

Billboards! Why go that route with putting the case information on most of the country's highways if they truly suspected RL from the beginning? LE is smart and they do not plan to waste money on all that just to smoke a drunk out.

Do we know how much money, if any, was spent on the billboards? I guess it is likely they paid something, unless perhaps FBI has a contract already and it was a covering all bases avenue?

I also wonder if BG lives out of state and was suspected to have been visiting RL. JMO.

This has been bothering me and so I just want to say it now... it scares me that without any of Libby's recording this would be an absolute cold case. One hundred percent. What would our theories be then?! This is rhetorical.

It also scares me that in spite of this having been born to be a cold case in all other circumstances, LE was blessed to have imagery and audio of aspects of the crime -yet we find LE struggling. Libby's footage tells a specific narrative- now it is time for LE to truly listen to the full complexity of what and wasn't being told.

Again, with all due respect, you nor I nor anyone but the investigators & officials know what physical evidence was recovered at the crime scene(s) & through warrants.

Wouldn't LE have searched RLs home a lot sooner had they had cause too? They have more video and audio footage apparently. They would know if it is him or not imo. Voice recognition and such.They gave an age estimate of BG and it was well below 70s!
I think they are keeping him off his property for his own safety tbh. May be watching to see if anyone "visits".
Absolutely ludicrous to me that a 77 year old man who has lived in town for over 50 years would suddenly snap now. Or even walk across that bridge for that matter!!! Im less than half his age and wouldn't set foot on it!

MOO is he's never been on the bridge. Besides, it's private property. RL lived there when it was an active rail RoW.

If LE found anything incriminating on the property we most likely would have heard about it over the weekend.

People keep chasing RL down a rabbit hole which probably contains nothing. I'm critical of LE right now for not having done enough the evening after the murders. Let's face it, the investigation is at a standstill.

LE needs to throw a breadcrumb because a lot of ppl already have convicted RL. He was a past drunk and probably a current one as well but I truly think he is not the BG. Interestingly, LE has not told the public what other houses that have been searched and they have searched other houses according to them. RL happens to be in the spotlight because of his current probation violations and that was picked up by the media. The BG is still out there and who knows if he will strike again. The BG got lucky and committed the crime on RL's property regardless if he knew the history of RL. JMO

They did name one other house on Bicycle Road. Told people the residents were not suspects and to leave them alone

Thanks very much for the info. A few questions: The ravine from the cemetery to the bridge - is it a path that you could tell people had used before? Were there other people out and about or crossing the bridge when you were there? Were you able to see the crime scene from the bridge through the trees? What kind of sounds could you hear when crossing the bridge? At the southeast end, did you go down the hill to the creek or no?

Regarding the ages of serial killers, I really have to wonder whether more studies need to be done because there have been some significant changes regarding medicine, etc that affect a male and his level of testosterone.

The theory goes (if I recall correctly) that younger male serial killers are most active due to their age and high level of testosterone. They are the most aggressive and dangerous versus older serial killers who can "age out" and no longer have the desire to commit murder.

However, we are now living in a age where men can legally buy Testosterone and boost the levels in their body. They can retain muscle much longer as they age and some even look like bodybuilders. We also have Viagra that can allow men to remain sexually active well into their golden years.

I'm assuming that the serial profiling unit at the FBI has taken all of this into account.

Not saying he is guilty of this crime of murder, however I just do NOT understand the sentiments of those who see RL as an innocent victim whose life is being ruined by people here who talk about his character, history, and the developments of the investigation as they unfold.

This is where I am coming from.... You need to read up on another case on here (Dr Tersea Sievers). There were so many other avenues that the case brought up and it is a mess from family dysfunctions to drug convictions and so forth and so forth. The current case we are talking about is being diverted to a man who is suffering from alcohol issues and the issues that follow it such as poor family relations to routine court appearances if it is a severe addiction. The man could probably have his own thread on WS but a lot of us do not think he is the BG. The crime just happened to land on a property owner's land that happened to have a criminal record. It could have been another landowner who had no criminal record but infidelity issues. The media jumped on this search warrant because of his past issues. What about the other properties that were searched. We have heard nada from LE and LE even stated that the property owner is not a sp. I need to see evidence before I convict a man of a heinous crime.

It depends. You first have to know where the people married. I married in a different state than I reside in, so...it depends. Also, it may not be available online. It depends.

I believe the company that owns the billboards will donate a certain amount of time for LE requests. That's what they did in New England when they were trying to identify Baby Bella.
