I believe it is possible that "The police will not say where the witness encountered the POI" and "That the witness did not come forward sooner because they were afraid" could be that the witness encountered the POI on their own property.

Several residences border this trail near the crime scene and they are not fenced off. If the POI wanted to exit the crime scene in a hurry, and did not want to risk being seen by other potential hikers, he certainly wouldn’t back track along the hiking trail.

Is it possible he made a side exit out of there crossing over private property while doing so? That would help make sense about why a witness would be afraid to come forward about this encounter. Because POI knows where she lives. I can’t come up with any other logical reasons to fear coming forward. If the POI and the witness know each other we wouldn’t only have just a sketch right? So why be afraid to come forward?
HMMMMMM?????
I was thinking maybe the cemetery. Also maybe he had ( sorry to say) blood on him, or maybe weapons, that would terrify me I know that. Who knows really, it must be horrible for that person [emoji17] imo always

This is all so wierd, I just can't wrap my head around it, I don't know what it is but something just seems really weird to me about thsee new statements from LE. Maybe I'm over thinking it.

She may have picked him up as a hitchhiker. He had been in her car. They had talked. She offered up some information on herself. "Oh I live south of x in y". "No me I am divorced. Just with my two kids" etc (moo) Just a possible theory. Totally moo

Actually I think this may be very possible. They seemed to think he was a transient and asked early on for anyone who may have picked him up to come forward. No one ever did. She was scared or maybe didn't want to put it all together. She was close enough to him to remember vague things. Def not blue eyes but dark not sure tho etc. she could confirm jacket color etc.

Ps. I think his nose was broken. Otherwise why draw it at bottom leaning to right. Also one side of face is fuller while the other- way "broken nose" is pointing is tighter more drooped

Mooooooo

Maybe they did get this description and sketch from RL, hence his "involvement" in the case. They said over and over he was not a suspect, maybe he has been working with LE all along. Maybe that is why RL was escorted to court by the sheriff. Who knows...

I hadn't thought of that but this makes a lot of sense! Great thinking. [emoji1319]

My opinion, possibly a purposeful slip? "She" imo is possibly parabon or something of the like. Could be wrong, of course.

Eta: He is clearly saying this is a new witness which was not identified before. Maybe it is just that. So, nevermind I guess:

"It came through because of information that we received from persons that were in the area,” around the time the girls went missing, he said. “Either we did not make contact for the first time, or they were afraid to come forward.”

"Sgt. Riley said the sketch artist had started about a month ago to piece together the descriptions, frequently consulting the witness or witnesses to refine the drawing. Investigators also interview people offering descriptions to make sure they are not just trying to get someone into trouble, he said.""

Started a month ago. Wow...so, this statement is clear. Someone was in the area and they just recently came forward. Okay then.

Check out the link from Post 31, it's a story from when this first happened and there is a named witness within that article.....

Well, look at what happened to Ron Logan and what LE stated about other arrests that were made during the investigation but which had no bearing on the murder case. Maybe the witness was afraid that some criminal behavior/probation violation would be exposed and they would end up in jail.

Perhaps it was just fear that their identity would be made known and an onslaught of media would show up at their door.

Maybe the witness was somewhere they weren't supposed to be or doing something they weren't supposed to be doing and didn't want that revealed.

Maybe just the old "I don't want to get involved" attitude that people have when it comes to law enforcement is the reason.

Maybe the person was high and thought they would not be believed.

The important point now is that this person or these persons has/have come forward and helped to create a usable sketch of BG.

This makes a lot of sense. RL does his time and is kept safe as well.

Maybe he picked up the hitchhiker when he shouldn't have even been driving. It would explain why they impounded the truck IMO.

This case got him put into prison so I'm thinking he's pretty angry and refuses to be anything but a combat zone....jmho

I hate that we all have to speculate so much. Why can't LE release anything else that they may have at this point to the public? It would seem that their best shot at a break would come from the public. The more time that goes by the more chance that another person may be harmed by this sick individual.

What's different now (4-5 months later) that might make it 'safer' for the witness to come forward? I believe LE said the sketch has been in the process for about a month now. Wouldn't the release of a fairly detailed sketch possibly put the witness more at risk?

Is the voice recording a man with bad teeth??? Let me explain:

I found a registered sex offender in Delphi ( as per the forum rules, I will not name ) who not only looks like the sketch, but matches the description with regards to height, and weight, as well as having reddish brown hair color. Even his mustache is similar.

More interesting, is that arrest records indicate that all of his top teeth are broken off. Think of the soft “L” pronounced in the voice recording of “down the hill.” The “L” sound in the spoken word “hill” is where your tongue would hit your top teeth. If you had teeth, it is a sharp stop. I hear my mother speak without her top dentures in quite often and to me it sounds very similar.
Or does the L sound soft because they cut it off, and loop the voice recording over and over.

Maybe I am really reaching for straws here. :-(

If witness is in prison...or has moved away in the past month, maybe.

I doubt that LE withheld the sketch on purpose. In the presser for the release it was stated that it was done from a combination of LE resources, combined with witness/es statements. They want to get this guy and IMO it would be in their best interest to get a sketch like this out as soon as possible, not a delay in releasing it..

I don't doubt that they WOULD withhold the sketch based on what social media has done with previously released evidence.

I don't think it's beyond the realm of reason for LE to want to try to find this guy themselves without public involvement. If that's the case then they've hit a dead end and now need the public's help.

As much as LE has held ALL evidence close to the vest.....I don't think my opinion is that far fetched.

PS--You are also assuming that everything LE says is 100% absolute truth. I don't assume that.

"Stop it, Facebook.

Indiana State Police are urging Facebook users to stop posting pictures of men alongside the composite sketch of the Delphi murder suspect.

"Those are of no value and take up investigative time," said Capt. Dave Bursten, ISP's chief public information officer."

http://www.indystar.com/story/news/...-armchair-sleuthing-delphi-murders/491871001/

I'm really sorry this appears to be causing a big problem for the investigators.

I believe LE has to withhold information in order to keep the suspect on his toes. This sketch is a really good piece of information that's been released just a couple of days ago. That tells me they are inching closer to a break and are now running down a whole new set of leads that are pouring in...

I went back to the first thread in this case and found this information.

"A woman who was at the bridge commented on a Facebook post by a family member of one of the girls, saying she had been at the bridge shortly after the girls posted the photo. She said she didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.

“I even walked all the way across the bridge and back. I only (saw) a guy when I first got there and another couple once I got on the bridge,” XXXXXXXXX wrote. “I didn’t see the girls at all. I also didn’t take the trail that leads to the right. Only took the trail that lead to the bridge.” "
http://heavy.com/news/2017/02/liber...ssing-snapchat-facebook-photos-family-bridge/

I removed her name

For reference, the "trail to the right" is the one which leads from the split of the trails by what was the parking lot. One trail goes to the bridge (old railroad right-of-way), the other heads to an area downstream and away from the bridge.

Not to be flip but I never assume anything. I try to keep that word out of my vocabulary and from being a part of my thought process. I was stating my opinion, nothing more....
