That they said they were being followed by "a strange man"?

It makes sense to me they were alarmed for some reason and that's why Libby began videoing and recording. But I don't recall LE or any of the family ever revealing if it is known what made them uncomfortable.

The discussion about "if they knew who he was, then why didn't they identify him" has been happening almost since thread #1.
Maybe they did but the recording was inaudible.
Maybe they recognized him from around town but didn't know his name.
Maybe they thought they knew who he was, but they were wrong.
Maybe he pretended to know them somehow but they didn't know him.
Maybe he didn't know them and they didn't know him.
We just don't know.

Not that specific wording but the meaning was the same. More than the references we're finding to "a man".

This quote from August is one of the most baffling imo. There are certain people (plural)?

....."It does not appear to be anything more than some discussion between the girls. We have only released a portion of it. There are some others we think could help us but again protecting the integrity of the investigation is key so we cannot release everything because there are certain people that know the details and if we release it all then we get into false confessions,” said Sgt. Holeman.

Does anyone get the idea to move along from DN...

Why would ISP be asking on a national tv show asking people to look at the sketch, look at the photo, and call it in, if it was DN?

ISP did not have to be on that show.

It's the pitchfork thing I think. Letting it down isn't easy.

But you're absolutely right, it makes no sense whatsoever to have featured the tragedy on Dr Phil as if it was a wide open unsolved case while asking for tips, if LE already believed they had their man.

I cannot even imagine - God Bless You!

Sorry, I'm really not trying to turn this around to be all "me, me, me", just trying to offer a plausible explanation for some general insights on grieving parents. Everyone grieves and reacts differently, of course, but some things remain very much the same across the board. If I can help at all by offering some of my experiences, then maybe it will be useful.

Thank you, and the others, who have sent well wishes. I became interested in this case because of my connection to the bridge and the town. As part of that child loss club, however, it's really difficult for me to quit putting myself in the families' shoes.

If anyone is interested I found what I believe is the first post on WS suggesting DN was a suspect. Camerabug posted it on thread #68 on 9/27/2017. We were all (well, almost all) very excited.

I guess I never saw DN's pic before, (I'm new to this thread.), but if that's it, no, I don't think they look really anything alike. Sketch looks like an older dude. Look at the noses..

Wow, great post. I've refuted the "girls said it was a stranger" twice in the last few months, but this false assumption is very stubborn.

And, YES! The contention that if they knew BG they would have said his name is such a false assumption, thank you for your great reasoning.
I'm not saying they knew him BUT if they did they would not have necessarily said his name.

I will say he does tend to look different from one pic to the next, but I never thought the nose or the ears matched the sketch. And I think BG looks older in the pics from Libby's video. moo

Yeah, to me, the sketch looks like an older dude whereas DN appears closer to my age. What exactly is the evidence against him?

ISP did not have to be on that show.

I think we'll get a better idea of whether or not to "move on from DN" when we see what comes of the court appearances in Colorado, and if he actually walks free.

He's a RSO and lived in Indiana at the time (about 60 miles from Delphi). Apparently lots of people think he looks like the sketch and Indiana LE was interested enough to go to Colorado to investigate him. moo

You might like to read this article. It includes several pics of DN and the original pic of BG and the sketch, all in one place.

ETA: My mistake, I don't see the original pics of BG.

If you haven't studied the originals they are linked in the media thread.

Personally, I feel LE screwed this up when they started using the tips for this case to make arrests for other crimes. Everyone clamed up that could have possibly turned in that needed clue to get the real unsub.

That still ticks me off. IIRC, they loudly announced they "had to". Bunk.

Good point. No wonder Carter had this to say at the end of the program:

“What I need for people to do is trust who we are. There are lots of reasons not to - and I understand that - but trust who we are.”

I honestly don't think they look alike either. The similarities are too general for me and I think BG's sketch and picture favor many other people (not even related to the case just, like, random people on the street) far more closely than DN. When people list the striking resemblance to the sketch as one of the reasons they think DN is BG, they kind of lose me.

I find it very odd I'm no longer allowed to post any detailed responses do to "Missing Security Token"? I have emailed the webmaster to no avail. How convenient.

No one is allowed to edit posts after an hour. Don't get paranoid; you're not special!

Copy that. Special?, I hope not.

That (expired token) tends to happen if you're busy writing a post but then something on the thread might change in the meantime, and you need to refresh - I have found that it's not really enough to just 'refresh' however, and generally when that happens to me, I have to go to a diff/previous page, and then back again to the right page, and do it again.... *very important to copy what you have written before you refresh or go to diff page and back again*, or you might lose your post (very frustrating and time consuming!)

Interesting. I've only gotten it once (a couple days ago) and I wound up going to a different browser. Thanks for the info.

I disagree, too, that he is their "number one" POI. Didn't they say that they had other POIs and that he was simply one of many? I think of one of the main reasons that we know about DN is because of TW's death. We have NO idea if LE traveled to other states to interview different POIs. For all we know, they have, but those were never publicized.
LE only said "we talked to who we needed to talk to". DN in his letter said his public defender didn't let LE take his DNA so I don't think they've even interviewed him. I guess they still don't know whether he has an alibi or not but are content to wait perhaps. MOO.

I bet ISP wishes we weren't aware of DN. El Paso County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kirby told ABC news, "They have asked us not to speak on their case. So I'm not at liberty to elaborate on anything that's related to what happened in Indiana."
I wish I could have been a mouse in the corner of the room when ISP made clear to Kirby that when it comes to Delphi MUM is the word.
MOO. Rest in peace sweet Abby and Libby.
Yes and when the paper mistakenly realeased the COD and had to retract it.

I believe the “strange man” or “creepy guy” came from a Q&A with Becky Patty after they listened to more of the audio.

TY. I did find a MSM article that called him a "creepy stalker" and posted that for those who queried my post. I'll look for that Q & A too.
