Logan pleaded guilty Monday to a felony charge of being a habitual traffic violator. He will remain in jail until his sentencing later this month.

Logan is not facing any charges in connection with the girls’ disappearance or murders.

Liberty and Abigail went missing while hiking near the Monon High Bridge on February 13. Their bodies were found on a private piece of land owned by Logan the following morning. Police have yet to identify their killer.

Police have had to debunk dozens of rumors regarding the case, including multiple recurring ones that connect Logan to the girls’ murders.

State and federal authorities executed a search warrant on Logan’s property March 17, which led to new speculation about his connection. Indiana State Police have continuously said that no arrests have been made, calling the search of Logan’s property "a normal course" of the investigation.

"It's been violated horribly. Your home being your sanctuary. I don't feel that way about it anymore. It's very concerning," he said at the time.

Logan is not considered a suspect in the girls' murders, and investigators have used two clues to try to dig up leads. One is a photo snapped by one of the girls which shows a man walking on a bridge. The second is chilling audio recorded on German's cell phone of a man's voice saying, "Down the hill."

Prosecutors did not reveal the time of day Logan went to that dump. Residents can drop trash and recyclables there.

Indiana State Police are still waiting on the processing of items that were seized from his home during the initial search of his home and property. It's been more than six weeks since the girls' bodies were found.

Ronald Logan, 77, was arrested March 11 on those issues and has been in the Carroll County Jail since. Police have not identified him as a suspect or as him having been involved in the girls’ deaths.

Logan could serve two years to four and a half years in jail or prison when he is sentenced April 10.

Carroll County Superior Court Judge Kurtis Fouts reminded Logan that he had received a two-year suspended sentence for his Oct. 8, 2014, operating while intoxicated charge and he could be sentenced to that time in addition to the new charge, a Level 6 felony that could bring him a sentence of six months to two and a half years.

Fouts said the two sentences would have to be served consecutively.

Logan was surrounded by law enforcement officers during his walk from a sheriff’s car to the elevator in the Carroll County Courthouse. Delphi Police Chief Steve Mullin held the elevator while Logan came in with two deputies and Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby, and a deputy watched over the railing from the second floor.

Outside the courtroom, Mullin, two deputies and Carroll County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Mike Thomas guarded the inmate entrance to the courtroom. Inside the courtroom, the two deputies with Leazenby, as well as the sheriff himself, stayed with Logan throughout the hearing that lasted about a half-hour.

Several reporters from newspapers and television stations were on hand for the hearing. Leazenby said in a later interview that it was a fine line to decide how much security to have.

Dozens of people volunteered their time for a car wash fundraiser in honor of Libby German and Abby Williams Saturday,as the search for the teens' killer continues.

The event was organized by softball coach Bridget Stephens.*She coached German in the past and Williams was supposed to start playing with the softball team this year.

"It’s a piece of them, it keeps their spirit alive," Stephens said.

Money from the event will go to the Delphi Girls Softball Rec League, in honor of German and Williams.

Abby's mother and Libby's grandmother attended the event to show gratitude for the continued support from the community.

"Some days, this is what gets us through," said Becky Patty, German's grandmother.

"Every day, they remind us they love us and that they’re here for us no matter what," said Ana Williams, Williams' mother.

While the outpouring of support gives them strength, the reality of losing the girls is still setting in.

"I keep thinking 'Well, she’s just at camp, she’s just spending another weekend at grandpas house,'" Williams' mom said.

Both Patty and Williams say they are trying to prepare for the many painful firsts down the road - like first Easter or softball opening day without the girls.

"Most of the time, it just feels like a dream," Patty said. "We’re just walking and still waiting for them to come in."

The girls' families have formed a foundation and hope to build a softball field dedicated to German and Williams.

8 weeks after the murder of #Delphigirls Abby and Libby detectives are looking for a break in the case leading them to this guy #wthr

The man was sentenced to serve the remainder of his probation, in addition to two years on a new felony charge of being a habitual traffic violator, totaling 3½ years in the Indiana Department of Correction.

"You're a danger to this community," a judge said about the man's numerous drunk driving convictions and probation violations.

He has not been labelled a suspect, and he has not been arrested or charged in the killings.

"Maybe in the future, no one else will be murdered in my backyard," he said during the hearing.

According to a petition to revoke probation filed March 16, the man drove to the Carroll County Transfer Station on Feb. 13— the same day as the girls' disappearance — although he is prohibited from operating or having access to a vehicle.

During the sentencing hearing, deputy prosecutor Jerry Bean said the man's trip to the dump took place before the girls were dropped off at a hiking trail near his property.

Surveillance video from the transfer station "clearly shows" the property owner driving his truck to drop off a load of trash, Bean said.

Previously, Bean declined to comment on when the man visited the dump or if it was related to Delphi's ongoing double homicide investigation.

The man also was accused of consuming an alcoholic beverage Feb. 27 at a Pizza King restaurant in Americus.

"It had absolutely nothing to do with (the Delphi killings)," Bean said during the hearing.

Logan will get credit for 31 days already served.

In the courtroom, he said to the judge,"Maybe in the future no one will be murdered in my backyard.”

Logan is not facing any charges in connection with the girls’ disappearance or murders. The Carroll County sheriff said he is "still involved" with the investigation, but is not considered a suspect.

The last article I posted was just updated:

In the courtroom Monday, he said to the judge,"Maybe in the future no one will be murdered in my backyard.”

A friend of Logan's offered this explanation about his statement: "I think he was very stressed over that and upset and he probably did need a beer, I know I would, I would need more than one, so I think he did."
