6/4/24 Update: Robertson plead guilty in connection to the death of her 8-month-old daughter Amiah. According to court documents Robertson has plead guilty to neglect of a dependent, a level 5 felony. In exchange for pleading guilty to that charge, the State will dismiss the following charges that were initially filed against Robertson: Neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, a level 3 felony; Neglect of a dependent, a level 5 felony & Neglect of a dependent, a level 6 felony. The court accepted the plea deal, which carries a maximum sentencing range of up to 6 years in prison. Docket update: Plea Agreement filed by Robertson on 6/3/24. The plea deal also stipulated that Robertson must comply with a no-contact order with ex-boyfriend Robert Lyons, who was also charged in connection to the case. The deal also outlines mandatory requirements that Robertson must remain in the Marion County Jail until her sentencing later this month & undergo mental health evaluations as approved by probation. Robertson is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, 6/7/24 for a hearing relating to the plea agreement.

The judge ordered Robertson to take parenting classes and undergo a mental health evaluation. Robertson declined to make a statement in court and wiped tears from her eyes during the proceedings.

Charles Robertson, Amiah’s grandfather and Robertson’s father, provided pre-sentencing testimony.

“Ms. Robertson, your father’s right,” Kern said during Friday’s sentencing hearing. “This is something that’s going to stay with you for the rest of your life.”

“I don’t agree with her being let out,” her father, Chuck Robertson, said. “I believe in my heart maybe she didn’t harm Amiah physically, but I believe she knows what happened to Amiah.”

Additional details surrounding the infant’s disappearance were said publicly for the first time at the sentencing.

According to prosecutors, on March 8, 2019, Amber and her boyfriend, Robert Lyons, went to a hotel on the west side of Indianapolis with several other people. They had the child with them while hard drugs were present at the hotel.

“She was fully aware of what her daughter was surrounded by and you should know better as a parent,” an advocate for Amiah Robertson, C.C. Hatton, said.

In April 2024, Lyons entered into a plea agreement, pleading guilty to neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury. He was sentenced to sixteen years in prison, with six of those suspended. In June, Amber pleaded guilty to neglect of a dependent, which carries a maximum sentence of up to six years in prison. The plea agreement stipulated that Amber must comply with a no-contact order with Lyons and undergo mental health evaluation.

Authorities believe Amiah was the victim of a homicide, but her remains have never been found.
 
How many other children does Amber have, I have forgotten? And does she actually still have custody of any of them?
Parenting classes? No kid is safe with her. She didn't even alert authorities when Amiah was "missing" it was casually mentioned when police were called for another unrelated matter.
