Thank you, Arkay ... it is a most intensely tragic situation going on here. The Aussie WS members that I chat with are safe, but it is certainly all encroaching on where each of us live, and is very scary and very sad. Thank goodness for our hero firefighters is all we can say.

Having my sister with family living in Australia, I really feel for you, stay safe!

For all of you there or with loved ones there, please stay safe.

I've traveled all my life but have never been to Australia. My bucket list destination, but I'll only go by cruise. I can't fly that long anymore and if one knows how to conduct oneself, a cruise is very safe. Poor sweet Chloe who never will have the chance to enjoy any of the beautiful things in life.

I can’t believe his defense atty. was for him doing interviews. So maybe yet one more example of his defiance.
His defense attorney seems to be competent and experienced, so I would be astonished if he OK'd the interviews. Which leaves two possibilities: SA agreed to do the interviews without telling his lawyer; or he told his lawyer, who strongly advised against doing them, yet SA decided that he knew better and would disregard his lawyer's advice. With everything we know about SA, I'm leaning towards option 2.

Shock? Hope against hope? Who could accept what happened, if it happened to them? Not me. That's for sure!
Well, in all honesty, considering what he was doing with the poor baby, and... he IS a 51 y/o man.... Any normal, half way responsible adult that age, would no doubt be able to have enough foresight to anticipate the consequences of his, either off the charts reckless, careless, and totally moronic actions... Or, was it his His intentional criminal actions.

I tell you, at this point, I do truly question and think this is possible. I can’t get past how deliberate his actions appeared to be. He was watching the window, talked to the baby, then waited a few seconds, then made a direct beeline straight for the open window. Then quickly put her up there treating her like she was a rag doll... to place her over a 150 ft, drop over concrete.... then held that baby up there for less than a minute. Then, what?

For gods sake, why?!

The CBS interview seemed like someone's idea to garner sympathy for SA. Perhaps they had an agreement with CBS on the parameters of the interview. To me, Winkleman's fingerprints are all over that interview because SA was obviously coached to state the party line for the RCCL law suit (he says the same thing that the mom says in her second interview):

If there was some kind of warning sign, we wouldn't even have been near it. We wouldn't even have been near it."
"Who do you blame in this situation?" Begnaud asked.

"The more and more days go by, you know, initially I couldn't — I couldn't help but blame myself. But I know that — I know that I — if there was a sign, if there was something that indicated there was a chance for that window to be an opening, that this wouldn't happen," Anello said.

"You blame the cruise line?" Begnaud asked.

"I do," he said. "I just want them to fix the boat. Just fix it. Just fix the boat."

bbm

"Ain't" nothing wrong with that boat....
If RCCL starts welding windows shut that will spoil the view and fresh breeze for future passengers.
And making the windows only open 4 inches or so won't get the passengers much air or view.

Those ships are designed to prevent people from accidentally toppling overboard.
The other 'victim' Winkleman is representing actually climbed over a high railing on the balcony and flung herself forward and overboard.
She is lucky to be alive.

It was definitely very forceful.
You forgot to say "imo".

Oy. I don't see anything "forceful" about SA., I don't see that he must have hated Chloe, resented watching her, didnt pay his way on the cruise, that there was a murder plot, that her family was in on it or that that red lipstick means anything other than her mom is trying to look nice.

I'm taking a break from this thread.
Arkey, nice to meet you. Betty Davis Eyes (and all the good posters here at ws's!), pleasure to read your posts as usual...

Chloe's dead. We pretty much know what happened. Reading dramatic supposition, or translated hysteria from a Spanish Muppet is getting to me.

How do you know he was watching the window?!

I've watched that footage over and over and I don't see that!

Chloe is the one who made a beeline for the window.

The video I was referring to was of the regular dressed man giving his own account of the puppet video. The Charlton YouTube video. He was the person calling Chloe an “it”...not the puppet.

Was this the video in Spanish? In the Spanish video, I heard them saying, "mira eso" or "mira esto" which is like "look at that" or "look at this." My Spanish is so-so. I was hoping there would be a translation of the video from La Comay.

<modsnip - quoted post was removed>

I believe that KW's initial reaction as she described in interviews was appropriate and it describes the confusion of the moment. She commented about looking out and seeing concrete and then demanded to see Chloe.

What is unusual (IMO only) is that after that she didn't lunge at SA and try to take his head off, as I would have done, like you said lol. What I mean is that I'm surprised she didn't become furious. And maybe she did and we're not hearing about that because they chose to blame RCCL and hire a lawyer so they're not sharing the anger. It's clear Chloe was dear to the parents and brother so there very well may be stuff that went on that we don't know about.

MOO and just a thought as I have to keep reminding myself that the family did and continues to suffer over the loss of Chloe. It's far too easy to paint them as greedy or clueless when that's not the whole picture. I never want to walk in their shoes.
