My wife and I went to this very spot in the Flatrock in Columbus. Our dog played in the water by the sandbar. She didn't even get her belly wet. How can one drown in water they can stand up in?

When were you there?

Supposedly there is also a train track by the river, but I haven't checked for it.

Thank you for posting this. Do you happen to know if there have been extensive rains recently that could cause the water to rise and the currents to strengthen? I know this just happened here in Los Angeles and several people were caught up and drowned in otherwise shallow or even generally dry river beds.

A few questions

Anyone know what this is (red arrow pointing) in the northwest corner of that lake by the road where she parked her car?

Also, is that a trail running east-west north of that lake west of Riverside in the map posted by CrimeDawg123?

What sort of neighborhood is that (the houses to the east of Riverside) next to the lake? Good/bad?
It is a very nice neighborhood.

Was there still a police presence?

How Cold is the water there at now? And is it deeper in spots upstream? And could the water have carried her? I really wonder about that.
I have chased stray dogs in some dangerous places and taking some risks, even on a highway. But, if I could not catch the dogs in a certain distance, I don't know 25 yards 50 yards, on a busy road in the woods I personally would know when to stop trying to get the dog. I believe all of my friends in dog rescue would say the same. Now, for one of my own dogs I would take a much bigger risk. But, if a dog you are trying to get so that you can help it doesn't come to you when you kneel down and hold your hand out chances are you're not going to get it by chasing it. The more you chase it the more and faster is going to run and you do not want it to run into the road.

I always have extra leashes and treats in my car and that is the way to get a dog to come to you, not by running after it. And, I bet she would know that. I would not be surprised if she kept treats and extra leashes in her car.

.6 inches of rain on the first of March. No flooding. I do have weather logs.

...snipped...
Here is a recent river temperature graph for White River - Flatrock river is a tributary of the East Fork of the White River so it could vary a degree or two depending on water sources, terrain and sun exposure...

If she fell in the water north of the dam, she would be pinned to the dam not found by the sandbar. You can walk up to the dam on the south side where she was found. The water is not that warm. But is isn't freezing and it's quite shallow.

This post lands at random.

We are allowing discussion about the possibility of foul play because it was reported in MSM that LE said the death is "suspicious". They have not issued a statement to the contrary, therefore speculation along the lines of foul play is allowed.

The social media comment has not been reported by MSM. As other members have stated, anyone can post anything on social media ... it does not make it true.

Thank you. The white line crossing the river and above the sandbar is the dam.

Agreed. It would be nice to know if she had already dropped off her dogs. I thought the initial news reports (while she was missing) stated that she had, but they've been updated and le couldn't verify at the press conference.

The other exception might be if she had hit/injured an animal or saw another vehicle do so. She clearly loves animals from her FB profile & may have swung immediately into action in hopes of catching up to it.

Has everyone watched the PC? I highly recommend it. IMO it's evident that these various agencies, including ISP, are leaving no stone unturned and not ruling out anything at this point, as they are right in the middle of their investigation. Anxiously awaiting to see what they come with up, and where the evidence leads them in this investigation.

The water below the dam is so shallow that the bottom of the riverbed can be seen. I don't see any large rocks on the sandbar on which she could have struck her head if she fell.

So there is no way her body could have floated downstream? Is that dam ever opened?

If she saw an animal hit or injured it makes more sense that she would follow it farther from her car. That is a likely scenario.
I Hate that the world has lost a kind animal loving person!

What does this mean and who is taking down factual info?

Not to speak for them but I took that to mean how a ton of people on Facebook are referring to that story that one person put out there as gospel and it's all over when you look at any info on Jackie-and someone had posted that story with a screen shot on here and stated when they took it down they were taking down the only factual info on here..which again is just the words of someone on social media. Again, it may be logical and may end up being true, but we don't know that to be factual right now..
