Angulo only has the murder trial.

Sorry - confused still.... so all 3 have a hearing re continuance on 10/1 or just Angulo, and Owen has hearing on 10/1 re his violation of probation? or a motion hearing also?
TIA! :)

Comment: RE: VOP

Angulo has no other cases aside from the murder charge.

I'm keeping them all separate - just in case the trial date changes for any of them. And yea, I'll be shortening these up! :)

8/6/20 Update: Court now sets this matter for hearing Sept. 10, 2020 at 8:30am with respect to Defendant's competency as the evaluations have been completed. Said hearing will be conducted by Webex.
9/10/20 Update: They were ready to postpone the trials until March 1, 2021 & Owen's objected. He told the judge that they've had since January to prepare his case & he's ready. Anguelo's attorney is not ready & he's the one who first requested the new date. He still hasn't read both of the competency results. He also talked about DNA. Owen's attorney is still ordering depositions. The judge & attorneys had a meeting in the chamber. They took Owen away for a little while & then he came back when the judge, etc came back. He & Murzynski were conversing & the prosecutor requested a LE to stand between them. The judge cautioned them to have NO conversation while in his session. Angulo's attorney asked for a new jury trial date & the judge set it for Mar 1, 2021. Murzynski & his attorney agreed but Owen objected. Since all accused were joined, the judge had to go with Owen and kept the current date of Oct. 5, 2020 for all of them. The courts are backlogged, so the judge advised Owen that the case may be kicked out due to that. 9/11/20: Document Filed: Sheriff files Consent to Hearing by Remote Access Using Video and/or Audio Technology. They just had their motion for continuance conference for the murder charge and all agreed. March 25 is their next status conference and the jury trial will be on April 19. Owen did not object to the continuance but did object to the date. The judge acknowledged his objection but stuck with that date.

When it's entered into record, I'll add it here.

They mentioned his other case number but I'm not sure what happened with it. Owen had a question that the judge wouldn't let him ask; maybe that was about the other case.

The violation of probation case then. maybe there will be something on the court site when you look. :)
And thanks for all that info!

There's still no update on the Indiana site or calendar but The Elkhart Truth did confirm it in an article that's behind a paywall. This is all I could get:

Trio accused in murder, confinement case given April trial date
By JORDAN FOUTS jfouts@elkharttruth.com Oct 2, 2020
GOSHEN — An April trial date has been set for three men charged in connection with the murder of a Columbia City woman last fall.
Donald Owen Jr., 21, and Mario Angulo Jr., 20, are accused of killing 31-year-old Kimberly Dyer on Oct. 21, 2019, in Elkhart. They face additional charges, along with a third defendant, 24-year-old Matthew Murzynski, related to the confinement and injury of a 32-year-old Sturgis, Michigan, man during the same incident.

Circuit court began a little late today and they are in the process of selecting the jury for one of the other cases on today's calendar.

There still has been no update on the new jury date for the three on the murder; M still has a bench trial and a jury trial scheduled for today on other cases.

"M" - ?? Mathew or Mario?? :)

Murzynski. Mario Angulo has no cases other than this murder case. (that I know of)

So it is the assault on his wife that will be the bench trial? I don't have any court dates for that one -
20C01-1911-F5-000274

Also - what happened to the violation of probation for Owens? The last hearing was on 10/1.

There have been no updates since the last conference; I have no idea what's happening.

The court calendar for Oct 6 & 7 were completely empty except for a marriage-related hearing. The judge, attorneys and accused could have met off camera to reschedule the status conference.

Comment: RE: VOP

On Monday, Oct 5 calendar, the dates (for all three) pertaining to the murder jury trial were completely removed. However, these dates remained on the calendar. I assume the judge set 3 days aside for the Keith Jackson jury trial; maybe it didn't take that long and he had time to at least hear Mur's bench trial. I checked the circuit court stream a couple of times yesterday; it appeared to be live but there was no sound or image.

Maybe I will not keep track of Murz... driving violation & domestic battery. I think I'll just keep track of Kimberly's murder case.

You're welcome but why don't I ever get cookies like Tippy Lynn does? :( If, by chance, that guilts you into offering me some, my favorites are Mexican wedding cookies.

I'm still going to watch their other cases but I won't post about them unless someone gets curious.
