MISSING: Elkhart County police search for 16-year-old Landon Skiles

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) Elkhart County police are asking for help finding Landon Skiles, a 16-year-old who was reported missing on Friday.

Skiles was last seen wearing a red Coca Cola T-shirt, blue jeans and boots.

He was driving a gray 2000 Toyota Tundra with license plate TK695NLD.

Skiles is described as 5’4” tall and 120 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes.

Landon is still missing. Wish we had more details behind his disappearance. There is a picture of him wearing the exact clothing as he was last seen wearing. In the picture he appears to be in woods mushroom hunting. Did he get lost in the woods? Is self-harm feared? He looks so much like my own teenage son that my heart is just breaking for Landon’s family.

On Thursday, Landon’s older brother and a retired police officer happened to find Landon’s truck at the same time at South Bend International Airport.

Surveillance video shows Landon boarding a one-way Delta flight to Atlanta.

Where he went next is unknown.

Eric Skiles says his only experience in Atlanta was during a family trip when his family was hauling a boat through Georgia to Florida. He says a tire on their trailer locked up, so they stopped at a repair shop in downtown Atlanta to get it fixed. A technician there stopped what he was doing to help them.

‘When we got all done, we asked what we owed him, and he said this is southern hospitality, there’s no charge’ said Eric. ‘That’s the impression I have of Atlanta, Georgia. I believe that there’s a lot of wonderful people there.’

‘I believe that there’s more people in Atlanta like that, and I just would appeal to them,’ he added. ‘I would appeal to the city of Atlanta, the people in Georgia, please help us find our son.’

The family of 16-year-old Landon Skiles tells NewsCenter 16 that he has been found safe.
