Just getting caught up ... As of yesterday evening we did not know that the friend who last saw her was a male. Was that in a news story today?

Not waiting until management can get a key to two apartments, use a battering ram to get hard drives? Where is this headed?

Around 4:30 a.m. Lauren told her friends she felt like heading home to Smallwood. A male friend watched Lauren leave the apartment. He saw her last on the corner of 11th Street and College Avenue, he told police. That male friend was the last person to see Lauren, Parker said.

The leaving of the shoes really bugs me. How many people did she leave the bar with? I believe she had to be considerably drunk to leave them and her cell anyway, but if it was a group of people no one noticed and said something that would have made them go back to get them?? Makes me wonder if she was with one male person, maybe she DID know she had left them behind, but in a drunken state was easily convinced not to go back to the bar. Something seems fishy.........jmo

From what I understand she left the bar when it closed, maybe that's why she didn't go back. But it does seem like her friends would notice her shoes missing. It could be when your drunk you just don't care about your shoes.

Double Checking something...

I read she wasn't on the security tapes hence they "knew" she never made it home

however,

I think I read somewhere else that when they know for sure she went to her apartment with her friend, either that night or earlier that day, she wasn't picked up on the security tapes either.

Do these security tapes work period?
I'm just getting caught up tonight, so I haven't read each new article today. From what I have read, I understand that LE learned she went to Smallwood after Kilroy's from the friend who was with her. We don't know if she was on the tapes because LE has not reviewed them yet. Thus the search warrant today, and later execution with battering rams to obtain the electronic equipment. My question: why did the apartment management delay in responding to LE's request?

Parker said video surveillance shows Spierer partying with friends Thursday night at Kilroy's Sports Bar. He said at approximately 2:30 a.m., Spierer and a friend walked to her apartment building, where they stayed for a "little while" before walking north to another friend's apartment. He said Spierer was last seen by a male friend leaving that building to walk home at around 4:30 a.m

-- 2:30 am she's at Smallwood with one friend (no.1).
-- They leave and go to the apartment of another friend (no. 2)
-- 4:30 am Lauren is seen walking south on College and 11th (from an earlier report) by a male friend. (no. 3)??; or one of the first two?

Smallwood Plaza released the following statement concerning the search warrant:

"Smallwood Plaza has and will continue to fully support and cooperate with this police investigation, and respects the decision to obtain these hard drives as quickly as possible. At the time police attempted to serve a warrant, an on-site staff member was not available with a key to gain access to the needed area.

The search for Lauren Spierer is takes [sic] precedence and our thoughts and prayers go to her and her family."

We know LE viewed those tapes as they stated she was not seen on video returning to her apartment on Day 2. I agree, why wouldn't Smallwood have surrendered them voluntarily at that time?

Any chance they think something was erased or they were only given part of the videos?

This might be one good reason Smallwood didn't comply

Denise the manager should be fired

This manager is not the friendly. All she cares about is money. We had a good group of security guards and she decided that they were not needed anymore and figures the night that our apartment was to be secured it was not and I believe that if the guards were there they would of stopped lauren from going out. I know this because when I became very drunk one of the guards stopped me and helped me to my apartment and that's when I realized that I could have been in big trouble. So I will not renew my lease this year do to the the manager not cooperating with the police and wanting to help find my friend Lauren Spierer.

In Spierer’s case, her story will go viral before she becomes a household name.

Within days of her disappearance, people searching for Spierer turned to social media to help find answers. In what might’ve once been a milk carton photo or a sign posted to a community bulletin board, Twitter users — including high-profile individuals such as Alyssa Milano and Ryan Seacrest — are circulating her photo. Others are sharing this virtual poster on photo sharing site Twitpic.

Laurens bf has a message on FB. Its in this above article but I don't know if I'm allowed to post it.

So sad. Where is she? I feel LE is getting closer in finding out what happen to her. IMO

I think LE needs those video's to verify statements.

It sounds to me that there were a bunch of people at the last location she was at (hence telling her friends she was leaving...plural) and the male friend kept an eye on her on part of the short walk, making sure she wasn't too intoxicated. Friends may have insisted on walking her home or her not leaving at all but the small are mighty and she could have been very stubborn and against the idea.

Of course, not one bit of this story so far is clear so once more info is shared and things are cleared up I may change my opinion on the above.

I don't think so, but maybe it has a limited memory and records over older video?

You're right, according to this article. It gives more details than the first one I quoted.

The two walked to Lauren’s apartment complex, Smallwood Plaza, but video cameras show she did not enter her apartment.

The two met up with friends at an apartment complex on the corner of 11th and Morton streets.

The two went into one apartment, then to another apartment a few doors down to hang out with some friends.

Is there a video of the press conference?

It's never safe to walk alone at night anywhere! There's sick people everywhere! We found this out summer of 1994 in Bloomington when we lived in a house at 10th & Washington. We caught a guy in a ski mask completely naked except running shoes and something in his hand (probably his shorts) looking into our living room window just before 5:00 AM. We weren't able to catch him but I have always had a gut feeling the person worked at one of the local bars (usually checked ID's, sometimes bartended). I hope police are looking into the employees at Kilroys and other local bars in the area. If the bars close at 3:00 the employees would probably be getting off work around 4:00 AM or later by the time they close everything down.

On the campus of the university where I graduated, one of my middle aged friends had to prevent being robbed by a by pulling a gun on him and telling him, "One more step and you're either going up or down."

In November, on the Friday night before a football game, I was on campus and was on the street corner in the background of this video of an armed robbery. It was eerie looking back into that parking lot where it happened and it seemed like it took forever for the light to change so I could finally get across the street.

If crime involving weapons can happen to these guys on a college campus, it can happen to anyone.

This is my point from earlier...I read that she wasn't found on security tapes at eithers of these times... Do they work? They know she was at Smallwood at 2:30, yet no signs of her on video?

What I don't get is if she left her shoes at Kilroys, then walked back to her apartment building, why didn't she go in her unit and get another pair of shoes to walk down to 11th & Morton? Maybe she didn't want to disturb her roommate/s, but at least her friend (the one that says they went back there) could've let her borrow some flip flops or something to walk a few blocks in. It doesn't make sense that she didn't put on another pair of shoes before heading back out...even if she was really drunk. A lot of things just aren't adding up. I wonder how well she knew the people she was hanging out with?

Yup, looking at someone entering maybe? Who lives there? Gave a statement to LE and need the video to check to see if they told the truth??

Why would they need a SW though?

Glad they are searching the building.

Good point, now I am wondering if she ever made it back to her apt.She was voted the best dressed in school and she was taking fashion in college. Can't see her walking barefoot everywhere.Something sounds off too me.

It seems like someone would've noticed and said, "Hey Lauren, you're barefoot! Let's go back and find your shoes." How it reached the point that she was walking home barefoot at 4:15 in the morning is mind-boggling. I've never even seen that happen to a drunk person.

In fairness to the guy (if he's innocent), I don't blame him for not wanting to escort her home if it was her idea. It's not safe for girls to be out at that hour, but it's not safe for guys either and he would've had to walk the distance twice: once with her and then returning alone. For all we know, he could've ended up dead too if he would've gone out there with her. As long as he was offering her a roof over her head and wasn't forcing himself onto her, I feel like he did all he could've reasonably been expected to have done for her safety.

The two met up with friends at an apartment complex on the corner of 11th and Morton streets. Police found a small purse and keys that belong to Lauren along this route. Parker said he thinks Lauren left the items on the way to the apartment complex.

What does "along this route" mean? On the street, on the sidewalk, in a tree, in the apartment complex? Details, reporters. We need specific details, lol.
