Someone earlier reasoned that if JW's friends were pizzed enough to throw a punch or two at CR, they likely would have contacted JW that very night to inform him of his girlfriend's actions. Thus, JW may have known that night about Lauren's actions and this may have given him a reason to contact her that night and not wait til the next morning.

I told my boyfriend, a former frat brother, that theory. He told me that there's a universal "man code" that dictates if you see your friend's girlfriend with another guy late at night, you wait until the next morning to tell your friend anything. That way, cooler heads prevail.

Again, this is just his opinion, and a different theory. People can do strange things while drunk...

<snip>What the police keep 'discovering' sounds like a pretty typical night (yes, losing phone and shoes included) except for her walk home (which is also pretty normal to walk home if you live there) 11th & college is much different than 10th & college; 10th is a straight shot I would feel okay walking from there, but 11th is down a hill and under a train tressel thing and next to 2 *advertiser censored* shops. The police need to be checking those shops and registered sex offenders!!!

Hmmm....I think this person might be confused. There is College Bookstore, which is a pretty seedy adult bookstore, on 14th or 15th but that's quite a jog from 11th and College (it's getting out of downtown area). There's another place that has in-call escorts under a railroad tressel...I can't remember what cross street it is but the last I knew the sidewalks between there and 11th were closed because of construction (they're building apartments Smallwood-style right there across 11th from where she went missing).

I do agree that there's a different "feeling" between the corners of 10th and 11th. Tenth is still on Smallwood's block and it's lit and has busy cross streets. The Justice Building and the jail are the next block over. Eleventh is less busy and, as I mentioned, there's the construction on the corner so there are barricades and equipment there. It's not as well lit.

The one thing that sticks out to me is that the source claimed that he was so worried he even went to her roommate's class to get the apartment key. It's summer break! I guess the roommate could be taking summer classes, who knows.

I thought that too...summer session at Ivy Tech (where Lauren was scheduled to take summer classes) started last Monday. But I'm not sure when IU's first summer session starts (and I know some programs have really wacky schedules that are different from the normal students).

I know this won't be the most probable theory here but I wanted to throw out another possibility ...

A lot of these drunken college students in Indiana end up causing their own accidents. For instance :

Wade Steffey disappeared from Purdue in Jan of 2007. After a 2 month search he was eventually found on campus in a utility room, he was intoxicated and had accidentally electrocuted himself while trying to find his way out.

Pat Trainor, another Purdue student, left a party intoxicated and disappeared in 2010. There was three days of searching until they finally found his car in a retention pond just down the street from the party he had left.

I don't know what police have in the Lauren Spierer case but in the cases mentioned above there were allegations of foul play.

Are there any rivers or ponds she could have fallen into between being last seen and her apartments?

I don't think it is a stranger because strangers don't usually take the trouble to get rid of the body in such a way that it is so hard to find. When they kill a person they don't know, it is usually a robbery gone bad or a sex crime. Their main goal would be to get it done and get out of there fast... maybe leave the body in a weedy lot or back alley or dump it on a country road.

People who go to great lengths to hide the body usually do it because they have some connection with the victim and know that they will be on the suspect list if a body is found, which makes it likely that they would be asked for a DNA sample.

With all of the hoopla that went on that night between Lauren, Friends 1 & 2, her boyfriend and unnamed others involved in an altercation, I just find it very likely that someone was angry or jealous and took it out on Lauren.

There is no difference between a college student going to great lengths to hide a body and anyone else who kills a friend or loved one. They would know they would be a suspect and will do whatever they can to see that the body is not found so that evidence cannot be used against them. (Casey Anthony was the same age as these kids and look at that mess!)

All JMO!
Not true. Serial killer types hide bodies, sometimes many at the same place.

Hmmm my gut feeling is that CR was way too out of it to have anything to do with Lauren's disappearance.. although maybe his friendship with her was the reason behind it. JMO

Since CR's roommate had supposedly put him to bed after he and Lauren arrived at CR's apartment, then it would seem CR has nothing to do with the disappearance.

Lauren Spierer returned to her apartment building with her friend Corey Rossman after leaving Kilroy‘s Sports Bar at 2:30 a.m. last Friday morning. Rossman was in the fifth floor lobby when he was punched in the face by a friend of Spierer‘s boyfriend Jesse Wolff. Smallwood Plaza Apartments spokesman Ernie Reno said Rossman was not supposed to be allowed in the building.

“We do have a ‘no trespass‘ list that does exist,” he said. “There is a list of people who have historically caused problems here and our security folks keep track of them.”

From: http://indianapublicmedia.org/news/list-prevented-prespierer-disappearance-fight/

What does this mean? Was CR on a "list" forbidding him from entering Smallwood? If so, why?

If he is on the list then I guess CR was involved in some sort of disturbance prior to this incident. But if his roommate put him to bed after which Lauren left then he has an alibi witness.

In the interest of keeping things accurate here, the young man interviewed on camera in the previous news video link does NOT say he thought HE was crazy (referring to the resident who saw LS walk away) he said he thought IT was crazy that someone he recognized from seeing at this apartment complex was the person who was missing. As these students names become public it is important to NOT inaccurately report things that were said about them or in this case were NOT said about them. The exact statement he made was "I thought IT was crazy, because I had seen her hanging out over here."

Did she know she didn't have her keys, or how did she intend to get into her apartment?

We were getting so much information at first, it seemed like a breath of fresh air to finally see a case where info was coming out. But now it is so confusing and garbled, it is hard to know what to believe or know is true.

She has a roommate. Presumably if she showed up at her apartment without keys roommate would have let her in.

I am more leaning to a random abduction now...at first when it seemed to have been reported that there were two separate fights that night, I thought it would be too coincidental that she would be taken by a complete stranger, but now that they are saying only one fight (!) occurred that night, and that someone seems to have seen her walking alone, plus the transient who heard a scream, it could well be that a predator came upon her-he must have had a vehicle to get her out of that area quickly.

I thought that too...summer session at Ivy Tech (where Lauren was scheduled to take summer classes) started last Monday. But I'm not sure when IU's first summer session starts (and I know some programs have really wacky schedules that are different from the normal students).

IU's first summer session is about ready to wrap up and the second summer session starts June 17.

I wonder if she could have let her purse and keys down as a clue to let someone know that she was there...sorta of like a plant of evidence as she was being taken.

I really don't think CR has anything to do with the disappearance. Obviously, it was whomever was seen on camera's walking with her in that alley, if that report is even true. I'm leaning toward her BF/friend(s) of her BF. I really feel someone was waiting for her to head back to her apt. and maybe just confront her on the events of the night and...

Just found this story, that I think includes the name of Male #2:

"Spierer hasn't been seen since 4:30 a.m. Friday, June 3, when a man identified as Jay Rosenbaum told Bloomington Police he saw the 20-year-old co-ed walk away from his apartment in the 200 block of 11th Street. He said Spierer turned the corner at College Avenue to head south toward her apartment three blocks away at Smallwood Plaza."

Also includes other new information. Hmmm. Wonder who JR is??!

This is so sad.
I've been following Lauren's story non-stop.
In all likelyhood, not matter where she is right now though, she is probably most likely "gone" right? I hate to say it, but she has a very serious heart condition and has gone days w/out her meds.
I think everyone knows that she probably isn't coming home alive. :(
It breaks my heart.
I do hope they find out what happened though and are able to bring her home to her poor family.

"The Bloomington Police Department led a traffic stop that questioned drivers, walkers and bikers traveling down North College Avenue at about 3:30 a.m. Friday morning."

I'm not sure what to make of this, but it sounds like police believe the last eye witness/es that she was last seen at College and 11th on her way home.

A lot of shady, spoiled, drugged up thugs involved in this plot.

The ones to feel for are the girl's parents and family, just heartbreaking for them.

Police believe she is alive?! That seems like a bold statement. I'm praying they know something...

I am so jaded...I don't believe LE when they say that...they seem to say it when they don't have physical evidence of death or injury, i.e. Phylicia Barnes...but we all know she was deceased all along. And many others, sadly. I am more than willing to be proved wrong.
