Um yes. How many people here have decided that the guilty person is JR? OR one of LS other friends?

How many people here are still keeping a random abductor possibility?

Why is THAT word press link allowed but the PHISH tour link is not?

I do hope that the moderator makes ALL of the links be removed EVEN the ones who referenced the link.

As the Phish tour links were not allowed here.

I haven't decided anything. I am leaning away from stranger simply because there seems to be very little window of opportunity but it is possible. I posted a similar case yesterday where everything pointed to the BF and yet a stranger's DNA matched a few years later...you never know. LE and family have made it (sort of) clear where they are looking (this group of friends) and I have to assume they have more info than we do. But they could all be wrong.

I've seen nothing indicating what LE or the FBI are considering or to what degree. My own view is that the very slim chance of stranger abduction keeps getting made slimmer.... and it basically ALL stems from one statement made by JR. If JR's statement were true, it narrows down to about 1 block on N. College Ave. Odds favor something going on back at 5 N. College in my view... by a large margin.

I wonder why you feel that the chances of stranger abduction is getting slimer?

IMO someone would have told someone something by now and/or something would have been found by now.

Those cases I posted are people who are STILL missing for a lot longer than LS.

No we didn't get any new info.
JR is a POI just like before.

Well, we sort of have new info, no? According to HT, there was a friend from JR's hometown visiting and staying with JR at 5 North. This is new information.. unless I'm wrong. If so, someone kindly correct me.

New info to me was that even at this late (relatively) date, LE has still been unable to rule anyone out...in many cases people close to the victim and/or case make every effort to have themselves ruled out, if they can...

If we were under a time limit, and had to pick a suspect based on only what we know now, I would say JR.

How about you guys?

I think everybody on WS would discuss the stranger abduction theory more if there was more evidence to point toward it. Look at how everybody reacted when the picture of the white truck was released. Also, i think you may be confusing "witch hunt" with scientific method- Wiki link- [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_method"]Scientific method - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:PrirodneNauke.svg" class="image"><img alt="PrirodneNauke.svg" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/ae/PrirodneNauke.svg/100px-PrirodneNauke.svg.png"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/thumb/a/ae/PrirodneNauke.svg/100px-PrirodneNauke.svg.png[/ame]
The media are the ones releasing many articles about LS friends possible involvement, that story seems to have traction and its the story most people are discussing.

Here's why the "random abduction" chances are increasingly less likely:

- The tone of the police/parent press conferences, which switched from the abductor angle to "LS's friends aren't being forthcoming" about a week into the investigation

- The lack of independent corroboration for the post-2:51 AM stories that LS's friends (and their lawyers) have provided

- The nature of the area in question where she allegedly went missing

- The post-disappearance conduct of the known POIs

- The likely existence of additional, unnamed (to the public) POIs

Is random abduction a possibility? Sure. But so is alien abduction, and the two are probably equally likely at this stage. Based on everything we've seen in this case, I just don't see this being a random grab by someone.

Not only the media, but Lauren's parents and even LE have insinuated that her friends are telling less than they know...or least were not willing to come forward, had to be tracked down. I hate that, for her parents' sake...to know that Lauren's friends did not come to police at once to tell everything they know about her lifestyle, her relationships, her habits, anything that LE might find helpful, when her parents were literally begging...

Actually if she decided to walk to JW's b/c she didn't have her keys that widens the area considerably as well as the time.

I walked and nosed around 5 North today. I'm trying to determine if there is an east-facing (towards College) window from JR's 4th floor. Of what I could see, I did not see one. I'd have to be at a much higher elevation than is humanly possible in the immediate area, or I'd have to be in the construction zone across the street from 5 North.

This is a huge point IMO. I don't think it's been verified here, does anyone know? Long-time Local?

I drove around the block a few times as well. First saw two men at 10th and College looking at a diagram or map. Then they walked to the center of College and pried open the manhole cover. They didn't place orange cones around it or anything; there was no utility truck nearby; they were in civilian clothing, not utility wear. If related to this case, I would think this was done in the first week or so, so it was probably unrelated, but wanted to report it nonetheless.

You have two options:

Someone who knew her and someone who didn't.

IF it WAS someone who knew her then the tactic of putting pressure to come forward might work.

If it was NOT then it won't.

Why would anyone discount an option (putting pressure on those who know her)?

If it was me I would try anything and everything as the Spierer's are doing.

As they say they have NO idea what happened and it just amazes me that so many people here do.

I am, more than ever,
:fence:

Of all the info I have seen here, in MSM and elsewhere, nothing has convinced me that the social circle, including JR and JW, were likely to do somthing either harmful to LS, or to dispose of her.
I think if she was last seen at 11th and College, she had multiple routes from there to walk that were not on camera. We have no idea of where she may have decided to go after leaving JRs - the camera evidence is good, but it does not work, imho, to eliminate her presence, but only to confirm it. Cameras take a picture of a limited area each, and if she was barefoot, her travels may have been dictated by the comfort level to her feet. This may not be where the cameras are pointed, and she may have been in a particular place, but not on the camera in the vicinity. I cannot at all rule out a stranger abduction scenario.

eta: ANd I do find the website naming JRs parents and giving their picture, contact info and professional identities offensive to be put in here. No matter if JR is guilty of something, his parents are not, and do not deserve the negative publivcity while JR is nothing more than a POI.

I also feel there are players in this story that we are not aware of as of yet. At this late date we have just found that JR had a guest with him. There may be others involved in her evening that we aren't aware of yet.

I am entirely on the fence.

We didn't just find that JR possibly had someone else with him. CR's lawyer always implied that 3 other people were there. One is MB. The other is JR. That left one more person whom we didn't know.

Are there any windows facing North that could be opened and he could have been leaning out?

Her parents were asking her friends to come forward with anything at all, not just related to that night...the stuff I mentioned in my post, relationships, habits, etc...surely they could have done that much...

And I have not seen too many people here who claim to know what happened...LE says they don't know what happened, and I believe them. They are having a lot of trouble getting past this group of friends...but they don't know what happened. And neither do I, that is for sure. But I have been thinking about it and worrying about Lauren for almost a month...and it is exhausting, so I can't imagine how her family feels...

And another thing, FWIW. There were three men standing next door to 5 North, facing it. Just standing there next to one another. Standing. Standing. Standing. Very casually dressed.

Forgive me. We just found out that JR had a guest staying with him that was described as a friend from home. That was new info we got yesterday.

Yes, we've talked about that here at length. Even then it's doubtful that he'd be able to see her "round the corner" because of the darkness, foliage, etc. Hard to know for certain unless someone goes inside which I hope the PD or FBI has done.

A "Now Leasing" sign is posted.

It is new info. I thought it was pretty important to know it as well. We knew from reports there was another person, but we didn't know who or where. The fact that he was staying at JRs and is a friend of his I think is a very important piece of information. JR and this guy are not around, and at least 1 is hiding behind a big-time lawyer. To me, getting an atty is a good idea, yes, but CR/MB have one too, but I don't get the feeling they are hiding. The other guys, their actions/inactions make them suspect to me along with LS' parent's focusing on her group of friends. Not once did I get the feeling her parents were thinking about a stranger abduction.
