Thanks Jupiter. Hey, will you grab these kids, lock em in a room and make em talk already? Thanks.

I hate when I check WS and see posts from 3 different days on the last page. I remember wasting entire work days hitting refreshs constantly trying to keep up with the pace of each thread.

I just fear BPD and the community has gone the way of this board and its saddening.

Sorry folks if I may have jumped to conclusions on the article regarding a body found that I posted. I read Bloomington and I jumped to attention too.

It's ok, I made the same mistake. :( I was so hopeful!

I totally understand ... I got the year wrong the other day when researching the woman found near Hammond, IN. The town and description matched, so ...

It's just that we so want someone to find her.

I am amused by the billboard places outside their apartment. I know it is relevant because it is around where she was last supposedly seen, but I think they probably also did it so they would have to see Lauren's face every day they leave and come back.
I am deeply saddened to see this topic so slow and no new news for awhile. I am hoping the parents or LE are gearing up...for something. Or will release new information to get momentum started again. It makes me incredibly sad to imagine coming to Websleuths 20 years from now and having her be an unsolved cold case :(

Today was a bit weird because shortly after posting the pic, I ran into an old acquaintance I hadn't seen for a long time. We were talking about Bloomington and the subject of Lauren's disappearance came up. His nephew works at Kilroy's and said on that night Lauren kept going around the bar asking people if they had any coke. I was flummoxed because this is a version I have not heard before. He said a Hispanic guy approached her several times asking her if she wanted to do some coke. (Maybe she didn't because she was with CR? Because they wanted to buy and do on their on? Who knows?) My acquaintance thinks this dude waited until he saw her alone and then invited her to do coke with him.

This scenario makes sense for several reasons, and I'm interested in just sitting with it for a while. It actually feels good not to be fixated on the usual suspects, as they say.

You mean like waited around until 4:30AM hoping she would come out of JR's and not spend the night? I guess it is possible, it seems a stretch. If he was following them, he should have been on camera and then you would think LE would be asking "who is this man?"

Don't feel badly. My BF and I once traveled for at least three hours to meet a woman from Illinois halfway. She was selling a puppy I wanted. She never asked and I never told her Bloomington, Indiana. We never met, I never got the dog, and we barely made it back home because of a snow storm. A Christmas Eve adventure.

It's not what I mean or think. I only shared what my friend said and thinks.

I did not say anything about him following them. Even if he did, why should he be on camera? It's not a big area we're talking about. Maybe he already knows where CR/JR lives. Maybe he is the dark-skinned Mystery Man. Maybe 4:30 is a lie.

This ties in a bit with where I've been leaning.

The College Ave thoroughfare, while not busy that time of night, will have quite a few folks that went somewhere after the bars closed (after party/Waffle House) and are heading home. It would be random, but not unheard of for LS to run into someone from earlier in the evening on pure coincidence. A lot of kids start their evening at one of those in-walking-distance-to-the-bars apartments and I just wonder if LS could have went somewhere else with someone. Anyone that appears in both the Kilroys video and exiting Smallwood, Tenth and College, or WH later that night would certainly be interesting to talk to.

This also fits Northsider's version which has her going to and ODing in a low-level dealer's house.

We don't know if this story is true; and it might not be fair to LS to imply that she was participating in illegal activity.

The phrase "kept going around" could be interpreted as meaning that LS behavior was persistent and perhaps aggressive. The situation suggested: the not-too-busy bar may have had 5 or 6 (?) tables, extremely loud music, groups of students and/or young couples. LS then approached these tables and asked these small groups of people whom she presumably did not know very well if they had cocaine.

The fact that persistence is implied suggests that other people were trying to discourage her from this behavior; but she "kept going around ..."

Who would be discouraging her from this behavior? Some friend in the bar? CR? The other patrons themselves? The bar staff?

On the other hand, LS may have known the other patrons or at least knew who they were. If a group of people who happened to know each other all happened to be at the bar that night, maybe this meeting had been planned. CR & LS may have gone to the bar for a perhaps very informally organized meet-up.

While she was supposedly asking for the drugs, what was CR supposedly doing?

How did the bar staff get this info? Could anyone really hear what LS was saying at other tables, or was the bar staff independently informed that LS had asked multiple persons for cocaine?

I was flummoxed because this is a version I have not heard before. He said a Hispanic guy approached her several times asking her if she wanted to do some coke. (Maybe she didn't because she was with CR? Because they wanted to buy and do on their on? Who knows?)

CR would have described the man's behavior to the police. He would probably be able to identify the man, or he might know who he is.

LS supposedly persisted in the face of repeated refusals and/or discouragement in asking the various patrons for cocaine, but yet when this particular individual offers her the cocaine, she rejects the offer.

Asking someone several times if they want to do drugs sounds a bit aggressive, esp. when she is with another guy.

Maybe LS was afraid of the guy, and that's why she and CR left to go to Smallwood.

Possibly LS confided in a friend that she was being threatened by someone, but the friend wasn't paying much attention at the time.

The story also suggests that CR did not want to confront this individual.

I agree that LE shouldn't totally forget about the white truck. It may have been cleared, but I've seen stranger things happen. I'm still in shock that a suspect in the other case I follow was cleared years and years ago and is now the primary suspect. Some believe that money bought silence in that case. I don't know what to think in this one, but perhaps if the truck is tied to a construction business a link exists that hasn't been uncovered.

It is heartbreaking that there are no new apparent leads.

Not to trivialize this case because I feel for this family and pray to God they find Lauren, but, perhaps I watch too much CSI. They interview tha obivous and rule them out for alibi's, etc., but in the end, it seems it was always the first guy interviewed that ends up being the perp.

I believe there were 2-3 persons in that truck. You tale those 2-3 and span out their connections to any PsOI, phone records of all three, a cadaver dog search of the truck, a poly, you name it.

From what I heard was that the "checked out." Well how so? Did LE even make a trip to the apparent construction site they were headed to? Did they check all of their backgrounds, criminal? I'm sure they were sitting there waiting for someone - did their phones ring?

There's a record for everything. Add cameras to that I would imagine they could go back to the beginning (which is what most LE does when a case goes cold) and start with the truck.

After all, it was their first request for help from the public and the coincidence of the timing and location is so uncanny.

I can't recall what murder case it was but i remember a case where they believed the person either did the crime or new more about it and the parents of the murderd girl bought or rented however u do it .But they got all the billboard sighns that were in front of his house and his work and put up the on the way to his work he would have to see a few more and thier were a few more placed out front of his work location so no matter where he went he would have no choice but to see it daily and nightly and it eventually worked ,Everybody in the town new he was the main suspect and i guess it just finally got to him untill he either confessed or told what he new . I really wish i could remember the case or where i seen it on tv . Im pretty sure though it was one of the first times someone had used a billboard in such a manner that anyone driving in or out of town had to see it with it being so big . Anyway your comment reminded me of that maybe something like that will happen here its gotta play on your mind keeping a secret like that and then seeing big huge banners around town..I was also thinking that if this case like so many people seem to think involves people that are in to some hard drugs like cocaine and god knows what else I would like to know if anyone that has been knowen to be with her or even around that night I would like to know If anyone of them has really went way over board and real heavy on the drugs like more so then usual it might be a good clue that something is clearly on his mind that he is trying to numb the affects of that night ..

We don't know if this story is true; and it might not be fair to LS to imply that she was participating in illegal activity.

It might be even more unfair to ignore the possibility that she was.

The situation suggested: the not-too-busy bar may have had 5 or 6 (?) tables, extremely loud music, groups of students and/or young couples. LS then approached these tables and asked these small groups of people whom she presumably did not know very well if they had cocaine.

there are three assumed facts in this scenario that are assumptions and possibly baseless: "not-too-busy," tables, and "extremely loud music." and consider for one thing the sandbox area of the bar.

How did the bar staff get this info? Could anyone really hear what LS was saying at other tables, or was the bar staff independently informed that LS had asked multiple persons for cocaine?

Again, here is an assumption that the info comes from the bar staff, and not the patrons, who as you say may or may not have been friends with her but regardless may have spoken to LE.

CR would have described the man's behavior to the police. He would probably be able to identify the man, or he might know who he is.

Another assumption, though it may be a good one.

While she was supposedly asking for the drugs, what was CR supposedly doing?

...

Asking someone several times if they want to do drugs sounds a bit aggressive, esp. when she is with another guy.

Again, an assumption that she is with the guy (CR) - there have been reports elsewhere that LS and CR were not necessarily together while at (or maybe even en route to) the bar.

The fact that persistence is implied suggests that other people were trying to discourage her from this behavior; but she "kept going around ..."

I disagree. It could simply mean that they, you know, didn't have any coke, which seems more likely than not. If it implies anything to me, it's that LS was already wasted.

Again, assumptions that she rejected the offer (I don't think that's clear from jupiter's post - jupiter?) and that the guy asked her several times (same).

If a group of people who happened to know each other all happened to be at the bar that night, maybe this meeting had been planned. CR & LS may have gone to the bar for a perhaps very informally organized meet-up.

Maybe LS was afraid of the guy, and that's why she and CR left to go to Smallwood.

Possibly LS confided in a friend that she was being threatened by someone, but the friend wasn't paying much attention at the time.

The story also suggests that CR did not want to confront this individual.

Regardless of all the assumptions I listed, the above seems to contain fruitful ideas for speculation.

OK... I've slept on this story from the Kilroy's staff member....

a few problems with the story came into focus for me:

I would think that if someone were going around the bar asking all the patrons for coke, they would be escorted OUT of the bar.

same issue for the Hispanic guy who approached her...

in order for a staff member to actually HEAR all of this LS would have had to be talking pretty loudly (yelling?)... because even in a restaurant, with just a regular level of conversational noise, you can't hear what people are talking about at the next table unless they're being exceptionally loud

and I guess I'd want to know... has that person gone to the police? It would seem to me pretty easy to figure out who was in the bar that night via debit card records... to sort out the major players in this story...

Bloom, I immediately wondered about a few of the same issues, however, for me, these are secondary to the core part of the story.

An early version of her time at Sports does have her getting "kicked out" does it not? I doubt that she asked everyone who was present. Perhaps it was those who were in the beach area, or something like that.

I wonder how many patrons would truly be bothered by this. After all, it's 2:30 a.m. they have a buzz going on, and they may even be amused by it. A server might just shrug.

We don't know how overt he was.

We don't know that the staff person heard this. Another staff person could have told him.

I would be shocked if this person has not been interviewed as part of the Indiana State Excise Police investigation.

Depending on the timing of when the man approached her, CR may not be able to describe him (because according to his attorney, he has no memory 15 minutes prior to getting punched). It sounds as though it took place over a period of more than 15 minutes, but we really don't know.
