He confessed to his step dad
Attempted to destroy evidence to escape being charged
And he pleads not guilty?

:behindbar:

A person cannot be convicted only on a confession, lest we go back to the days of the inquisition. Evidence must be presented to corroborate the confession. Also, if a judge DOES accept a guilty plea, the greatest punishment can only be life in prison. All IMO.

Uncle Adam ought to be ashamed of himself.

So it sounds like Kyle confessed to his step-father. Do we know if he also confessed to LE?

I hope they have him on suicide watch. What he did was so horrific, I would not be surprised if he takes the easy way out.

Yes, him being in prison is a lot more punishment than the death penalty. I would prefer he went to prison, with guards preventing him from suicide.

Was Uncle Adam the one scrolling thru his phone during that Interview? TIA I had to get caught up and cant remember some details.

Oh yes of course, I understand that. And I've been here at WS long enough to know that (BBM) but the American Justice system still confuses me! Having said that so does the UK lol

Uncle Adam ought to be ashamed of himself.

Yes, it seems astonishing to me, but, if your mind would not even consider any ill fate would come to a baby, then Adam may not have even realized what he "saw" at the time, and it wasn't until Shaylyn was missing and the family was going over the events of that night, that Adam suddenly realized what he " saw".

I hope they have him on suicide watch too.

Yes, and smoking a cigarette in the next interview.

I stopped posting after Shaylyn was found, mainly because it was starting to look like Kyle acted alone and well, I had nothing nice to say about the family even if that was the case. IMO it makes more sense that this was yet another "family friend murders child" incident than some sort of family conspiracy. I was waiting for the formal charges to be announced. Ugh, maybe not too surprising but so ugly nevertheless. :(

Having said that, after reading the following I don't think I can muster up the expected sympathy for the family - or at least some of the family members:

Adam Ammerman told police that he saw Kyle Parker leaving the house between 3:00 and 4:00 am. Adam saw that Parker was carrying something. Adam told investigators he yelled to say good-bye to Parker, but Parker would not turn around. Adam said he thought he saw a foot dangling from Parker's side but wasn't sure. He went back to bed at that point.

Adam Ammerman also told police that his mother walked into the house one day and found Kyle Parker sitting in a rocking chair drunk, holding Shaylyn in his lap. He told police Kyle liked to watch pornographic movies which featured people being spanked. Police interviewed some of Kyle Parker's other friends, who said he liked pornographic videos with sadistic and masochistic themes, and that Kyle Parker was attracted to younger girls 12 to 14 years old, something Parker denied when he was being questioned by police later.

RIP little Shaylyn. :rose:

I've read some pretty horrifying details in criminal cases but I don't know if I've ever read anything so evil as this, done to a baby. As far as I'm concerned, he's confessed. Death penalty. I'm not sure anyone ever deserved it more.

Sorry but if it is a case of child rape (with or without murder) jmo, no tolerance and no redeeming qualities and semen DNA with confession or not, instant death penalty. No appeals, no lingering on death row. Hubby says take them immediately behind the courthouse after court case and shoot them. ita

This just gets worse and worse. I still do not understand why the family seems so detatched in their interviews. Especially in the one before she was located. They had to know by that point what Adam had seen when Kyle left and what had most likely happened. I would imagine they were feeling angry and guilty (particularly Adam since he saw Kyle leaving with her and did not investigate further) but they seem bored in that initial interview. Were they trying so hard not to slip up and say too much at the request of LE that they came across poorly? I just don't know what to make of this. Poor Shaylyn.

A little bit on Indiana death penalty. It can be pursued for murder cases with these aggravating circumstances:

IC 35-50-2-9 Death Sentence
(1) The defendant committed the murder by intentionally killing the victim while committing or attempting to commit any of the following:

(A) Arson (IC 35-43-1-1).
(B) Burglary (IC 35-43-2-1).
(C) Child molesting (IC 35-42-4-3).
(D) Criminal deviate conduct (IC 35-42-4-2).
(E) Kidnapping (IC 35-42-3-2).
(F) Rape (IC 35-42-4-1).
(G) Robbery (IC 35-42-5-1).
(H) Carjacking (IC 35-42-5-2).
(I) Criminal Gang Activity (IC 35-45-9-3).
(J) Dealing in cocaine or a narcotic drug (IC 35-48-4-1).

KP has been charged with 3 out of 10.

Heartbreaking and really messed up, I think. He says he thought he saw a foot, but just WENT BACK TO BED??

She was alive when he took her out of the house. I'm sorry, there cannot be any sympathy for at least that particular family member. IF he actually saw what he says, he went back to bed and did NOTHING to help that precious baby.

Epic failure to protect IMO and in many ways!!!!

If only he had gone to investigate why he he thought he had seen a foot. This little girl might still be alive
