Another link dated October 26 th with another officer stating the same thing:

Child specialists spoke to the boys on Oct. 4, the day after Lisa's disappearance, but investigators have not had access to Lisa's 5 and 8-year-old half brothers since then.

"This will be the first time we've had a chance to interview them since then," Kansas City Police Officer Darin Snapp told ABCNews.com today. "We have not been allowed access to the children until [parents Deborah Bradley and Jeremy Irwin] agreed to bring them in this Friday."
...
""We spoke to one for 50 minutes and the other for 30 minutes," Snapp said. "They were woken up very early in the morning and, due to their ages, we didn't want to interview them for too long that day."

I really wish that media interviewers would have this information on hand before conducting interviews with either JT or BS. Call them out on it.

MOO

That is quite possible. IMO there is no way JT is letting those boys be interviewed without having had his own child psychologist or some such interview them. For all we know those were given to the FBI (sounds like that is who he is dealing with over local LE) if there was nothing to incriminate the parents on it.

Bottom line, his job is to protect and defend his clients. To let the boys be interviewed blindly would not do that.

I think that JT has sat with the boys for an extended period of time and he's confident that they have no information to add. Or at least they had none to add for him.

He still is likely a little worried that something might come out of a professional interview with them though.

Judge Alex Ferrer: It's a matter of they don't want those kids talking to police...maybe not until they have a good idea of what they're going to say. And why would that be?

<not a full transcript>

Last week when JT said that he would allow the boys to be interviewed, many of us predicated that his wording was carefully chosen in order to give himself an out when he later refused.

JT...predictible as rain.

To me.........calling off the interviews and refusing dna for the boys..........screams GUILT. There, I said it and I meant it.

And now it's being reported that JT says the boys interview will be rescheduled for next week.

Uh huh.

ITA - But Who's? :waitasec:

Isn't it possible to create a DNA profile from both parents? Don't they have DNA samples from both JI and DB? If this stalemate continues can't LE supeona DNA samples from the boys' mother and father respectively and get those DNA profiles? Kind of a round about way to go about it but they don't have much choice with this lack of co-operation.

Then again I don't understand why they didn't request to take some of the boy's items during the search warrant. Or perhaps all things like toothbrushes, hairbrushes were already removed from the house?

That's the 50,000 question, WOO. I could tell you what put the wheels in motion for something to happen, but I can't tell you who is directly responsible for whatever happened to Lisa. :(

I posted about this some days ago, and I think it's possible LE has already done this.

I'm sure this question has been asked and answered, but in all my attempts to find the answer and browse the forums, I still cannot find it.

WHY can't the police interview the boys without the parents' permission?

Is there no legal means to do so?

TIA.

Fear for their other kids?? Why would being questioned by a professional trained to work with kids cause them fear? If it were me, my fear would be that I'd never see my baby again. That would take precedence over anything else at this point.

BBM, hasn't Lisa been through enough? The boys will need counseling whether they are questioned or not. IMO, asking them about the night could be good for them, they may feel they are getting a chance to "help". I don't think the questioning would add any additional harm, the harm has already been done.

Warning-- this is very disturbing!!

Maybe this is what scares them. It scared me. I would hate for my kids to be put through something like it. I know not all interviews are like this, but I would venture to guess this little boy's parents thought it would be good for him to be interviewed. This is just food for thought. I respect your opinions on this matter. :twocents:

I used to transcribe the forensic child interviews for a local child abuse prevention and intervention program.

The interviewer in that clip was asking leading questions and presenting scenarios when she wasn't supposed to do that, nor is she supposed to challenge the child on what is the truth or not.

Typically, the interviewer most often she starts with asking the child about him or herself, what they like to do, favorite TV shows, what they like (or dislike) about school, their friends, etc. They then segue into asking the child to describe what happened during [kidnapping, abuse, etc] in their own words and the child is allowed to do so uninterrupted. After that the interviewer will ask clarifying questions trying to get more details and determine consistency. If a child has been coached or, sometimes in the case of older teens, lying, this will come out.

The interviewer isn't supposed to put words in a child's mouth - that can ruin the child as a potential witness - and if the child starts crying and retreats into repeating things like "I don't know" the interview ends or the child is given a break.

That interviewer grossly overstepped her bounds and was pushing that child too far.

I bet in the majority of cases that interviews don't conduct themselves like that. :seeya: Look forward to your posts.
