GazaCNN —
Multiple militants from Gaza have entered Israeli territory, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Saturday, shortly after a barrage of rockets left one person dead and at least three injured.

Palestinian militant group Hamas claimed responsibility for the rocket attack.

Hamas military commander Muhammad Al-Deif released a recorded message, announcing operation “Al-Aqsa Storm” and saying the Palestinian militant group “targeted the enemy positions, airports and military positions with 5,000 rockets.”

The IDF has warned Israelis who live near Gaza to stay in their homes.

The rockets, which were witnessed by a CNN producer in Gaza, prompted sirens as far north as the Tel Aviv area, east to Beer Sheva, and many other locations in between.

Hey everyone,

Websleuths does not have enough staff, time, or specific knowledge of all Israel/Palestine/Middle Eastern affairs to be able to vet / research all the background of the various publications that members are sending us for approval. Chances are, we don't know any more than you do about a particular source.

Members are going to have to do their own due diligence by thoroughly checking out the background and credibility of the sources they are reading. If you are convinced that a source is legitimate, go ahead and link to it. If your post gets Reported by other members with an explanation as to any concern, WS staff will review it at that time.

Also, as Websleuths is located in the USA, linked articles need to be from MSM, government or other well recognized agencies or individuals, and articles need to be in English or with English translation.

Thanks to all for your cooperation.

IDF commander: Fuel will be allowed to reach Gaza hospitals

By LAZAR BERMAN
In response to a question from the press about fuel supplies to Gaza, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi says fuel will be allowed in for use in hospitals.
“We have not brought fuel in to this point,” he says. “We check the situation in the Strip every day. For over a week they tell us that the fuel in the hospitals will run out, and it hasn’t. Fuel will be transferred, with oversight, to the hospitals, and we will do everything to ensure that it won’t serve Hamas’s military aims.”

IDF troops who engaged in fierce combat with Hamas terrorists for control over an operations base in the Gaza Strip were met with a disturbing tactic: roughly 100 women and children were pushed forward by Hamas to act as a human barrier.

Soldiers of the Givati Infantry Brigade encountered the shocking scenario during the battle for the base of Hamas’s elite Force 17 near Jabaliya in the Gaza Strip. "We stand ready to face more instances of such cynical and brutal use of civilians," an IDF officer said.

[...]

The IDF reports that valuable intelligence gathered from the base is contributing to ongoing combat efforts. Amid extensive aerial and ground operations, the military is exercising caution to prevent strikes on areas where Israeli hostages are believed to be held underground.

The Givati Brigade lost 13 troops in total in the early days of the ground operation in Gaza after 11 soldiers of the Tzabar Battalion were killed on Tuesday after their armored personnel carrier was hit by an anti-tank missile in the northern part of the territory.

LISTEN to the conversation between 2 Hamas terrorists during the October 7 massacre, newly revealed by the IDF
Horrific! I mean we knew this, but to KNOW it is just horrific.

So when I hear the reports of *advertiser censored* civilians killed in this rocket attack or when the media is reporting that Israel hit a "safe" place and so on I'll view that through the lens that HAMAS is putting it's own civilians into harms way, the words they say mean nothing and I think much of the reporting of how innocent civilians are being targeted is just propaganda. What we do know for sure is HAMAS has brutally butchered babies, they have put their operations centers under hospitals, they have used their own civilians as shields. So I don't doubt that innocent civilians have been killed, but what I do doubt is the headlines saying Israel is targeting them. Israel has shown great restraint and HAMAS has shown a total lack of humanity and caring for their own people.

Israel Gaza: Children must be off limits, says father of abducted kids

In the garden of his home in central Israel, amid the palm trees dappled in the morning sun, Yoni Asher shows me a video on his phone.

It's of his two small girls, sitting on a bed. They're singing Happy Birthday.

Raz, the eldest, with long fair hair, is just four years old. Her sister Aviv, darker and more like her dad, is only two.

"They made this for my birthday in July," Yoni tells me.

But four months on, the 37-year-old father and husband is home alone.

Along with their mother Doron, they were captured on 7 October in Hamas's unprecedented cross border attack. They are thought to be among the youngest of the 240 hostages being held in Gaza.

(...)

That was more than three weeks ago. Yoni has not seen or heard of his family since. Their grandma, Efrat Katz, has been found dead. Her partner, Gadi Mozes, also abducted, is missing.

"The only way to describe it is hell," says Yoni. "It's the definition of hell."

"How can I eat when I don't know what my family are eating? How can I sleep when I don't know if they if they are cold or too hot?"

(...)

I ask him how he feels about the suffering in Gaza, now under Israeli bombardment for almost a month and where the United Nations says thousands of children have been killed or injured.

"Children are children, it doesn't matter which country they are from," he says.

"Children need to be off limits. I can't hate not even the children of my so-called enemies. How can you hate a child?"

And what about the hostage videos that have been released by Hamas?

"It was not easy to watch," Yoni replies.

Israel's military responds to white phosphorus accusations with carefully worded statement

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Thursday responded to accusations about Israel’s use of white phosphorus in Lebanon with a carefully worded statement, dismissing reports that the incendiary substance has been used for setting fires but conceding that it does use it in some circumstances.

On Tuesday, Amnesty International accused the Israeli army of firing white phosphorus at the southern Lebanese town of Dhayra, injuring civilians.

On the same day, Lebanese interim Agricultural Minister Abbas Al-Hajj Hassan accused Israel of burning more than 40,000 olive trees in southern Lebanon using “white phosphorous bombs.”

The IDF denied that.

The “smoke-screen shells containing the white phosphorus in the IDF are not intended or used for setting fire, and any claim that these shells are used for that cause is baseless,” the IDF said in a statement to CNN.

The IDF also said it does not use the incendiary weapon in densely populated areas, but added that “certain exceptions” applied.

“This complies and goes beyond the requirements of international law,” the IDF said.

What is white phosphorus? It's an incendiary weapon, which is used to set fire to military targets, but its use is restricted under international humanitarian law. It is considered lawful in some cases but cannot be fired at or near civilian areas or civilian infrastructure.

White phosphorus can provide illumination or create a smokescreen in battle, but it is known to burn flesh down to the bone, according to previous CNN reporting.

According to the International Committee of the Red Cross, “The use of ... white phosphorous weapons against any military objective within concentrations of civilians is prohibited unless the military objective is clearly separated from the civilians.”

Human Rights Watch has also accused Israel of repeatedly firing white phosphorus at Lebanon since the escalation between the two countries began on October 8, sparked by the Hamas-Israel war.

Last month, the IDF strongly denied the claims. In an interview, IDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Peter Lerner told CNN “categorically, no," it had not used white phosphorus.

Both Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have documented the use by Israel of white phosphorous in civilian areas in Gaza during previous rounds of fighting there. CNN also documented its use.

A CNN team on the ground in southern Lebanon has seen fires, burning trees and billowing smoke in the aftermath of Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon over the past two weeks. The CNN team filmed abandoned olive fields during the ongoing harvest season.

Tried to bring forward @PommyMommy post from the last thread, but I didn’t succeed in bringing the audio.

IMO this conversation between Hamas members, one so excited about having cut off Jewish heads using knives (how barbaric), and his commander instructing him to use those heads as game pieces, and to take pictures, is emblematic of what Hamas is and why THEY MUST BE DESTROYED.

Israel cannot “play nice” with feral pigs like Hamas.

IMO

''The media’s fascination with Israel’s plight and retribution coincides with a marked shift in the Indian government’s stance on the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. It has moved from backing the Palestinians to more or less unqualified support for Israel. The pivot is based on a realist reappraisal of Indian interests in the Middle East. It has also met with strong public supporter from Mr Modi’s domestic supporters, which is gratifying for Narendra Modi’s government ahead of state elections this month and a general election next year.

In the past, like many countries in the global south, India tempered any expression of support for Israel with expressions of concern for the Palestinians’ plight. No more. Mr Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) within hours of Hamas’s assault to express his horror at the “terrorist attacks” and declare that “we stand in solidarity with Israel”. It took five days for India’s Ministry of External Affairs to reiterate, in response to questions from reporters, that India continued to support a two-state solution to the conflict. On October 27th, in a departure from its usual voting record, India abstained as the un General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza; it objected that the text did not condemn Hamas’s assault.''

Hamas is hoarding vast amounts of fuel as Gaza hospitals run low, U.S. officials say

U.N. officials warned that aid groups, water treatment plants and bakeries in the enclave are running dangerously low on fuel.

Hamas, meanwhile, has repeatedly demanded fuel deliveries to Gaza during negotiations to allow foreign nationals to leave the enclave and in talks about the release of 240 people it kidnapped.

National security adviser Jake Sullivan said Sunday on CNN that Hamas has been blocking Americans from leaving Gaza. “Hamas has been preventing their departure and making a series of demands,” said Sullivan, who declined to describe the demands. Other U.S. officials said fuel deliveries were among the stumbling blocks.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken testified before Congress on Tuesday that Hamas is refusing to share its fuel with hospitals in Gaza.

As IDF advances in Gaza, Hamas chief Haniyeh claims to seek ‘political negotiations’

Terror leader’s call for ceasefire and ‘two-state solution’ in stark contrast with colleague’s declared intention to stage repeats of Oct. 7 slaughter until Israel is eradicated

“We are ready for political negotiations for a two-state solution with Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine,” Haniyeh said during his address, adding a caveat that the process can only begin on condition of a ceasefire and the opening of humanitarian corridors to bring more aid into Gaza.

As for Haniyeh’s request to open a humanitarian corridor into Gaza, Israel has allowed over 170 trucks carrying food and medicine to enter the blockaded Strip over the past two weeks.

The IDF revealed on October 24 that Hamas possesses its own vast fuel reserves, a claim that was confirmed by Western and Arab officials to the New York Times last week. The terror group has also allegedly been stockpiling food and oil, keeping it from Gazan residents who are in desperate need. A senior Lebanese official told the newspaper that Hamas has enough supplies to sustain fighting for three to four months without a need for resupply.

Reports have emerged that the terror group has also stolen humanitarian aid delivered to the UNRWA, the UN agency that provides for Palestinian refugees in Gaza and their descendants, as well as fuel.

Edited to add: I see it diverted to Eilat in southern Israel.

I'm thinking the alerts were causing flight delays coming into Tel Aviv.. but this flight was set to land in Tel Aviv and then now it appears to be heading somewhere else. It's a flight from London.

Theirs is surely one of most extraordinary survival stories to have emerged from the October 7 massacres. But it also serves to throw light on an under-reported aspect of the atrocities; how Hamas gunmen did not hesitate to execute or kidnap fellow Muslims whom they came across during their two-day rampage.
They hold Israeli citizenship and, while not drafted into the army, like Israeli Jews or Druze, around 1,500 Bedouin volunteers serve with their own light infantry regiment, or as specialist trackers to other IDF units.

Bbm.
To terrorists, everyone who doesn't support them is worthless.
Everyone.

Rest in peace to Fatima and the Bedouin farm worker. :(

Dr Tarek is asleep, recovering from his ordeal. But he has recalled that after being shot, Hamas interrogated him on his knowledge of Islam and, for two hours, used him as human shield against Israeli airstrikes as they massacred the passengers of passing cars.
Emphasis mine.

Hamas used him.
Just as they use people in the hospitals and kindergartens.
The deaths of these people on Oct. 7th and also in Gaza are on Hamas' hands.
Omo.

Flights are delayed, (about 1/2 hr) but are leaving ELY317 left about 20 minutes ago. To London
ELY5109 left a few minutes ago to Tablisi
Another ELY flight left for Prague.

A flight arrived from Israel
Flight from Madrid landed

Ben Gurion appears to be a relatively small airport. Thought it would be much larger. It's about the size of San Antonio International, which isn't saying much. Generally SA has one runway for take off and two for landing. (Usually they all land on the same runway and take off on the same runway.) Gurion seems to be about the same size.

Is it really the right decision for USA media to confront military in a foreign country about the tragic side of war during war? Hamas is deliberately putting civilians between themselves and Israeli soldiers because they want the world to be upset with Israel that civilians are killed or injured during the war. The confrontation should be with Hamas, and the sympathy should be with Israel. Israel has to eliminate Hamas or they will be brutally murdered in their sleep. They have no choice.

Reporters are too often confrontational with questions like: 'we know you failed on October 7, how do we know you're not failing now?' Imagine that those same reporters were equally confrontational with USA military or politicians, accusing them of failing each time there is a mass murder on the streets in the USA. It would never happen, yet reporters feel they have the right to ask those questions of foreign countries.

Yes. Because of incoming rockets to central Israel it landed in Eilat.
