I can't find a link to Shep reporting computers measuring radiation level aren't working,so if someone else can that would be great.

Also in about 2 mins,Megyn Kelly reporting on the corruption of the history of Tokeyo power company, and why nobody trusts them. I'm going out for a min. if someone could report that.

Not a good endorsement... Fukushima Reactor Flaws Were Predicted-- 35 years ago

Quote: Dale Bridenbaugh helped assess the design of the Mark 1 nuclear reactor upon its creation back in 1975. His findings portray an extreme lack of confidence in the reactor's ability to contain pressure in case of a meltdown.

(I was going to say "glowing" endorsement-- my how the mind pushes up bad puns)

I have seen varying reports. Some say 36 hours by air particles, some say weeks. Yes it would be nice to have a President in charge.I picture him and Michelle dancing to the Barry Manilow song about Rio when the rest of us are worried sick about mankind.

My first concern is for the people in Japan, of course. But, there are many other factors regarding this for the American people as well. First and foremost, can the radiation reach the U. S.? Second, what about the water and sea life? My business is based on imports from the waters in the Indo Pacific. Tens of thousands of people rely on those same waters for their business. If they are contaminated I would most likely not be able to stay in businesses. There are ramifications well beyond the shores of Japan that will affect a lot of people, even if the radiation doesn't reach U. S. shores. Where are our leaders? Unreal...

I'm still following Anderson Cooper's tweets. I had to laugh at one post from nine hours ago. He was watching the Japanese PM's spokesman on CNN Int'l.

"Frustrating. The official is talking, but not saying anything."

About par for the course, I'd say.

Please don't believe everything they say. We were told the fire was out at the nuclear plant two days ago, then yesterday they said it had never actually been put out. And some people are repeating erroneous information or rumors on TV as well. There isn't much good communication going on anywhere in Japan and there's a language problem.

Last night Rachel Maddow had an excellent explanation of all the nuclear stuff about the rods full of uranium. Any time they are exposed to the air, they start to heat up. Remember that uranium glows in the dark naturally and that might help you understand why this is happening.

Also, an expert told her that since it is too dangerous for people to be at these plants for any length of time, the only answer is the dump water from the air. The problem is, the roof hasn't blown off of Plant 4 where the spent fuel rods are, so they can't even dump water on them. He estimated that there are enough fuel rods stored in that one place to make them worth 5-6 regular towers!

If I heard correctly,Shepard Smith just reported that the computers that measure the radiation are not working!!! Did nayone else get that? So who knows how much radiation exposed?

My, isn't THIS convenient. Now they have an excuse for not revealing exactly what we're all up against.

Quote: More from the NRC Chairman, who says high radiation levels around the nuclear plant may reach "lethal doses" for emergency workers to get near

eta: I still have not seen anything on Daini for today... I surmise Chad Myers was WRONG.

That was reported last night. Someone posted a link here. I'll try to find it.
ETA:
A computer system that forecasts the spread of radioactivity has not been working due to malfunctioning monitoring posts around a troubled nuclear power plant in quake-hit Fukushima Prefecture.

6.20pm: " Tepco, the operator of the Fukushima Daiichi plant, is holding a press briefing and saying that a new power line that could solve the cooling problem at the plant is almost ready.

No details yet but presumably that could mean the company could reconnect the reactors to the grip and so operate their usual cooling functions. Let's wait and see."

I'm having major troubles figuring out what is new info and what isn't so sorry if this is old..

"Around 850,000 households in the north of the country are still without power in near-freezing weather conditions, and water supplies are disrupted in the worst hit areas. "

When you're thirsty enough, you'll drink anything.... i'm so scared they will drink contaminated water..... and it could be contaminated with a lot of things.. radiation, fecal matter, who knows :(

I just feel so bad...

Steam at Fukushima No. 3 reactor, massive water injection planned

Excerpt:
Japan's nuclear crisis at the Fukushima No. 1 power station showed no signs of abating Wednesday, five days after a mega earthquake crippled it, with the focus shifting to how to cool the possibly overheating pools that store spent fuel rods at the already troubled No. 3 and No. 4 reactors.

What appeared to be smoke coming from the No. 3 reactor in the morning led the top government spokesman to point to the possibility of damage to the reactor's steel containment vessel, but it seemed more likely later in the day that the smoke was radioactive steam coming from the No. 3 reactor's spent fuel pool.

From the looks of the latest pics, I have to ask, exactly what they expect to hook back up?
