Oh yes, it would certainly be even more compelling if any of those things had happened. No question!

Their absence, however, does not negate the evidence that does point to Jason.

And on the flip side:

Wouldn't Jason's alibi be more compelling if

1. His key card registered room entries that coincide with his story

It wasn't that out of line with what he said. I would be more suspicious if he had everything down perfect.

2. Cameras had viewed him eating breakfast at HI

There are no camera stills or videos of him anywhere in the hotel after midnite, and yet we know he came back to get his receipt and luggage. How did he leave and why not make sure he was noticed.

3. The cameras that would have exonerated/incriminated Jason hadn't been tampered with twice and at the particular times they were tampered with

They were tampered with before
.

4. Jason had stayed at a hotel farther away

What difference would that make?

5. Jason hadn't urgently and persistently hounded Meredith to go to his house that afternoon.

6. There hadn't been a 4million dollar life insurance policy on Michelle's life

The policies were for equal amounts and no way would he ever be able to cash it. Never. Ever. Never.

7. Jason hadn't fallen in love with another woman
And? My answers bolded.

So, what was the plan? To wait it out, cash the insurance policy, and he and Michelle Money would live happily ever after? That no one would ever suspect him, that he could outwit everyone, and he was just that evil.

Patently false, backed up by testimony by both Meredith and Linda Fisher. The only thing JY ever said ... to his MIL was, "I'm gonna take a hit on the house... when I sell it, I'm gonna take a hit on the house." Strange thing using the word "hit" twice, especially when his wife had just been hit over the head 30+ times mere hours before he made that comment. He's worried about taking a loss on the house. Interesting priorities he had. He also told his MIL he could not talk to her, said right before he made the "hit on the house comment."

Or, maybe the convo went like this, hypothetically, of course..

Jason , what are you plans, where are you going to live? Do you plan on going back to Enchanted Oaks?

Jason......" I could never go back there, the place where my wife was killed. I don't know what I am going to do right now, I guess somewhere down the road I will sell the house, I just can't go back there, ever,
But, I really can't think of things like this right now. I do know the market is down, so I may not get what we put into it",,I will probably take a hit on the house."

Thank you, Otto....for always making sense!
The Youngs were making good salaries and I know Michelle's boss testified to the fact that she had worked out a plan where she could work 30 hours, and, also work from the home, and still keep all full time benefits.

Thanks ... that's what I recall as well. It sounds like Michelle had sorted out how to manage everything financially while she raised her children. A point that had yet to be sorted out was whether Michelle's mother was going to live in the attic space. I recall that Michelle had discussed developing the area so that her mother could move into the house and help with child care. Jason was very much against this - which isn't surprising.

If they couldn't manage financially, they could easily have down-sized. They didn't need to live in a 2800 square foot home.

Yes, Collins brought this up at trial when questioning Hicks. He actually asked him how he got back downstairs and initially he answered that he didn't remember and then Collins reminded him of the rock so he had to say "Yes, I took the stairs."

Questioning about the receipts and newspapers and how he got back downstairs to find the rock begins @51:00

Thank you !!
Did Keith also notice the camera was out at this point when he was in the stairwell, or didn't he notice that until later? I will listen to it.
.. I had been listening to a little testimony each day to catch up, but there are times when the questioning is soooooooooo slow and all the hestitations with the um's , etc, I've taken a break. So many missed opportunities for the state, the questions should have been coming fast and furious, especially when Jason was on the stand. They should have been prepared for the possibility of his testifying, instead they needed to hear what he had to say before they could find any discrepancies and they needed another trial to do that.

I want to know if he ever took his luggage to his room.

This pic has JY waiting for lift with luggage, can't find any of him on 4th floor unfortunately. We have to assume he took the luggage to his room. jmo

Thanks, Prime Suspect, so unless he changed clothes in the elevator , I think he made it to his room!!

Plus when Demetrius Barrett testified that when he and JY talked, he could hear the college football game on JY's tv in the background at the hotel room.

I'm just saying those things would have corroborated Jason's alibi. Just like your list of things that would have further supported the states case

Concur - there were so many questions that could have been asked and so many unresolved questions. Both from the defense and prosecution. And the slow, drawn out way of the attorneys and judge speak is somewhat maddening and makes it difficult to stay engaged.

I have been listening to testimony every day for a couple of weeks (really trying to catch up) but my mind starts wandering and I have to put it down and come back to it later.

Wouldn't it just be easier to say who you do think is taking liberties with the facts, instead of playing an elimination game? If you feel someone is misrepresenting the facts in this case, call them out. We are all adults.

I don't want to personalize my posts. It was only about the issue of whether the police reviewed and seized the hotel security tapes. And I did point it out when the comment was made.

No, he testifed he rarely went back there because he couldn't see the front desk from there.

Now, I am really wondering why he was there. There was an elevator he could use to deliver the receipts and newspapers.

Maybe he was going out for a smoke or something?

Again, we're asking him to prove innocence by proving that he was a cigar smoker. I don't care if there are NO receipts. Show me the proof that he didn't spend the night at the Hampton Inn.

I don't really care if there were zero receipts or 100. I don't think the cigar issue is that important.

There are many pieces of circumstantial evidence that he murdered his wife and was not in his hotel room all night. Those pieces of circumstantial evidence when considered together = proof IMO. I know others disagree and don't believe the circumstantial evidence adds up to proof. Thank goodness the jury is composed of 12 individuals who have to agree on the verdict -- obviously individual opinions can and do vary.

His spontaneous worry about finances shows that he forgot about the insurance money. I'm sure if they could have afforded the house on just one income, Michelle would have been planning to QUIT her job altogether or take family leave time.

What am I missing? I can't think of one piece of evidence that places him away from the hotel.
