"Jay Slater's family demands drones in Tenerife search

as dad reveals frustrating 'riddle'.

Family is waiting for Spanish police
to green-light the use of high-tech gear in the search,
it has been claimed.

Jay's family is aware of how important it is
not to waste any time
and is reportedly 'desperate'
to be able to use drones among other items
to scour the Rural de Teno park area where his phone was last detected.

'They are desperate for permission to be granted
that will allow them to use the specialist equipment they’ve identified'.

'They’ve been speaking to experts
who have suggested items that could help -
things like [radar] tracking gear,
drones
and kit which can help at night-time too'.

Given how wide the search area is,
taking advantage of similar technology could buy the family precious time and boost chances of finding clues leading to Jay."

I don't know why I just assumed they had already been using drones. They used dogs, why would they not have used drones???

he's 'received information'
I don't find him credible in the least
and we've got at least three other people who talked to him who said nothing about him acting 'scared'

But he can only have got that idea from one of those three people. We don’t even officially know who one of them is. We don’t know what Lucy really recalls now she’s realised he’s probably lost forever. Brad was probably half asleep after a heavy weekend and may have selective recollection.

I’m not particularly a fan of MWT, but in this instance, until it is challenged or he retracts it, I’m going to believe more in a detective with several years active service than a teenage wannabe influencer. And I’m not having a go at Lucy, I’m just unconvinced her early interview told the full story and I totally understand why that might be. Things have changed. Stuff got real. It’s now a recovery rather than a rescue.

Just a theory, based on a few known facts

AQ manages/managed the Tenerife ‘cafe’ owned by his long term, good friend, a well known UK rap artist called Potter Payper.

Like AQ, Potter Payper has drug related convictions including time spent in prison.

There are videos on YouTube, TikTok etc of Payper’s Tenerife cafe being robbed recently, and amongst items allegedly taken were a Rolex watch.

Now I know there’s more than one Rolex watch in the world, but could there be a link here…?

Maybe someone had been tasked with getting the stolen Rolex back, and maybe an impressionable 19 year old was willing to help - without knowing the full back story - who then shared the news with his friends of this high value theft.

Maybe, being told he’s not going to get paid much for his part in this, decided to get out of there with the watch or something else of value.

Meaning he had to get away, couldn’t go back, and either got caught or thought it best to get off the road to make sure he didn’t.

All just a theory

why would a Rolex watch be left at a cafe?

People go missing in terrain like this and are often never found. It doesn't necessarily mean they aren't there.

Pick any number of points along the route Jay supposedly took. He was surrounded by terrain like this; I wouldn't want to attempt searching that:

I think it's a good point that has been made back in these threads by the search teams, that some areas on this route can only be searched using ropes and climbing equipment, and someone would need to have an idea where to start.

25 YEARS?
Not quite

who knows where he got that idea from as he seems to rely heavily on 'sources' that he never identifies so we can't vet them or at least form an opinion as to whether their account is reliable

How for God's sake he landed in this total wilderness with massive mountainous area?

By simply leaving the road?

If he wanted shortcut he should have the road still in his sight.

Going from one bend of the road to another using shortcuts.

It is all unfathomable to me.

Well it’s a toss up between the ex detective who wants the story and glory, or the frightened girl with a rep to protect. As neither is exactly a watertight source, I suppose we’ve not got a single reliable fact to go on. Hopefully it’ll be corroborated either way.

I'm looking at the words Lucy used that were attributed to Jay.
I don't know where I am. Did he say he was lost or didn't know where he was. If he went to the Air BNB, he might not have known where that was or where he was. Did he say he was outside and walking?
I need a drink. Water? or I need a drink like I need a drink when hung over? If he were outside the air bnb and didn't know where he was and was tired and hung over, he might feel overwhelmed and say "I don't know where I am. I need a drink."
I have 1% on my battery. This is pretty self explanatory, but may or may not have been completely accurate. My phone shuts down at 3%. I would never see anything at 1%. It might have had more power than thought, might be accurate or might have been an exaggeration (man, my battery is like 1%).

Did he call or text? If he called there was cell service wherever he was at the time. Not common everywhere in a mountain region. If he texted, that text could have been created hours before and only arrived at 8:15 am. I've had this happen many times. I sent a text, there was no service, then suddenly I was in service range and the text sent, the text was already queued. If the phone either wasn't completely dead or had somehow got recharged after said possible text, Jay could have been being transported somewhere when service was available for an sms message. Takes less power than a call.

So sad. The whole thing stinks to high heaven.

I completely agree, it’s unfathomable to me too, but then I like flat walks with pubs in sight. I can only think he saw the sea and thought it looked nearer than it was and he’s collapsed or fallen. Or he headed back to the road and something else happened. Or neither of the above!
