I didnt think the body would be in a decent state to do fingerprints.
I don't have any specialist knowledge but I assume one doesn't need 10 fully intact fingers to take enough of a print to identify someone whose prints will already be on file. I mean they've done it so it was obviously possible.

With the autopsy now in, and confirmation of injuries consistent with a fall, Brad and Lucy’s testimony: off road and lost, can we put this one to bed as death by misdadventure - please. ❤️❤️❤️ RIP Jay.

You'd hope but I think it's unlikely, maybe on here as members have a few more brain cells than in other places where all that will happen is that new tin hat theories will appear.

The only comments that should be made on SM if people feel the the need to say something are condolences and thoughts and prayers for Mum Debbie, DaD Warren ,Jay's siblings ,step dad and extended family anything else is adding to the pain and distress his family will be and have been experiencing. RIP JAY SLATER YOUR IN THE ARMS OF THE ANGELS NOW

Wow….

Williams-Thomas told The Mirror the family received 'two videos posted of separate people, meant to be Jay, having been beaten up'.

One clip allegedly featured the 'We have your son', with the detective saying it was 'created for publication by someone wanting to give the impression they had Jay held hostage'.

He explained that 'within hours' they had established that Slater was not the individual depicted in the videos.

The investigator also revealed that the family have been contacted by people who said 'they have Jay and will give information in exchange for a sum of money'.

'What has taken up the most time has been investigating the many theories and the false information that gathered traction on social media and then subsequently in the media,' he told the newspaper.

'You will understand that the family lived in hope of every new piece of information that Jay was alive, so they all needed to be investigated.'

I have not followed this case closely, and not followed it at all through social media or the daily mail.

Is there a reason why this case brought so many malicious opportunists and outright harassers? I’m sure that the loved ones of missing persons get harassed more often than we hear about, but as I recall, Jay’s mother received such messages as soon as she got to Tenerife. People go missing all the time, so what was it about Jay Slater that inspired so many people to stage fake kidnappings?

Cororner confirms that the death was consistent with a fall

"The result of the preliminary autopsy indicates that the cause of death is due to a fall or precipitation," police say.

What does 'precipitation' mean?

This is the End...

"Matthew Searle,
from the British overseas missing person charity LBT Global,
said it was working with Slater’s family on the next steps,
which would include recovering his belongings and repatriating his body.

He said
further details about travel plans
and funeral arrangements
would not be released at this stage
and asked for privacy for Slater’s family.

He also called for an end to
'hurtful comments on social media and elsewhere',
referring to conspiracy theories that have spread rapidly online
since Slater’s disappearance.

Slater’s mother,
Debbie Duncan,
said in a statement that confirmation of his death was
the 'worst news'.

'I just can’t believe this could happen to my beautiful boy,

Our hearts are broken'.”

I'd say possibly a translation quirk, in the context we'd use it for rain falling I can see that there might be a falling from a height connotation here. Maybe a Spanish speaker could help

There were - and still are - so many strange things about what happened that night. It’s not like your typical missing hiker case because the back story to why Jay was even in Masca, miles away from his mates, his hotel and the party, is interesting and suspicious. Once the info came out about Jay’s past and a suggestion he’d been taken, the rumour mill just snowballed.

I’m afraid we’re going to see this more and more now. Ultimately there seems to be a social paranoia and mistrust of authority. From a sociological point of view it’s really quite fascinating.

I'm not on tiktok and didn't know that people were staging fake kidnappings (just assuming its from there as I haven't seen it on other SM), that's pretty messed up, what on earth would possess anyone to do that?

Sickos and thickos, Suzy. Lack of critical thinking. Lack of empathy. A lust for likes.

I think those who contacted Jay’s family saying they had him should be tracked down and prosecuted. My opinion only.

meaning number 2 must be the relevant one in this case

ITA, I don't know how you'd even stage a fake kidnapping, with actors?

Yes, just Googled and it’s a Latin derivative. “Falling from height” basically.
"The result of the preliminary autopsy indicates that the cause of death is due to a fall or precipitation," police say.

So if precipitation means fall, the above statement means he either fell or he fell.
I'm wondering why it's been phrased an an either/or statement, ie, that Jay either fell or it was 'precipitaion'.
And, since Chambers dictionary defines 'precipate' as "to throw or fall from or as from a height", the preliminary autopsy is either one of a fall or a throw from a great height.

At the risk of being accused of being a conspiraloon, I am not sure I'd interpret the preliminary autopsy statement from the police as meaning Jay's death was likely due to a 'fall' and nothing but a 'fall'.
