"Tenerife search for missing Jay Slater
moves to new area as rescuers focus on
'unforgiving' ravine'.
Search teams looking for Jay Slater, 19,
have switched to a ravine area in the Masca valley,
around 100 metres below the missing teenager's rental property in Tenerife.
Rescuers wearing hard hats and other mountain rescue equipment
have switched their attention to a ravine area in the Masca valley.
It is around 100 metres down below the rental property where Jay, 19, was last seen on Monday morning
and on the opposite side of the mountain pass which rescuers were searching on Thursday.
A source said:
'Teams are searching high and low.
It's a very rural and unforgiving area to search with undulating terrain and lots of dangers.
The intention is to carry on until the boy is found'.
This morning a police helicopter was seen flying over the Masca Gorge,
while officers from a specialist mountain rescue unit called the Greim and others with scent dogs searched on the ground.
While the guard is leading the operation,
it is a coordinated,
multi-organisation effort
that has also seen participation from firefighters and local Civil Protection workers."
