The reason I thinks she did it deliberately was that she told the detective to check. Kind of like if you obscured the video cameras at a bank and then told the cops, "check the video, if I was there it would show up"

And I think the gas cans were so she wouldn't have to stop on the way to Mesa, it sure seems to me that she didn't want anyone to know she was there. Too bad about that whole camera-in-the-washer thing, huh Jodi? Blew that alibi out of the water.

-how/why she rented the car
-why she turned the plate stickers upside down (makes no sense to me, sure way to have an officer stop you)
-why she asked for a car that would not be noticed (white not fire red)
-why she borrowed two gas cans from one of a dozen ex-boyfriends and brought all the gasoline with her
-where did you get gun & knife, why bring them, where were they when Travis was in the shower

Some possible answers now that we know her elaborate story:

-rented because she had to, white so it won't get dirty as fast & I never asked for a car that was not as noticed, rental guy is lying
-upside down stickers, I did not do that, it came that way, again rental guy is writing a book probably. "Premeditated Rental"
-I apologize to my grandfather to stealing the gun, I was in fear for my life from Travis, 1028 miles away. He kept begging me to go to his house and I took the gun in anticipation I would need it, I hid it in the bushes out front until I drove to Mesa. Where is it? I left it right there in the bathroom, if they didn't see it, how is this my fault? I don't know anything about a knife. I left the camera also, see, I don't hide things, they found that just fine.
-I did not surprise Travis, he was in constant contact with me on the way, I called, he picked up and was so excited to see me, he stayed up.
-Travis always helped me, it was his idea I carry a gun for protection since I drive long distances, like from Yreka to Mesa, Mesa to Utah to see my new husband someone picked out for me.
-Contrary to what everyone thinks, I shot once and ran, Travis was standing, then slumped down but was fine, I had blood on me, but he was not fatally injured as you have heard from the medical examiner, I am not responsible if after I left Ninja's came in and caused the fatal injuries by stabbing him 29 times.
-And no, the gas cans were not to set his house on fire to cover up a crime scene, they were in case I ran out of gas from Mesa to Utah, a long dangerous drive, similar to when the Donner Party crossed, again, Travis' idea, he always had good ideas.

I believe the plates were turned upside down in Utah on purpose. Sure way to get stopped and have a paper trail/alibi that she was in Utah, not AZ.

I don't think it would have been an appeal issue even without the "door opening" testimony; it's relevant to her motive (jilted ex). In an abundance of caution, I could see why he wouldn't want to get into it--but I wish he hadn't explained the reason out loud, because now if he does follow up on her "opening the door," Nurmi will cry mistrial again.

I do not quite understand why Nurmi did not instruct Sky and Chris Hughes to not watch, or read about the trial if he planned on calling them. And whether they were on the list and no plans were in place to call them it appears defense did not do their job. Why is Nurmi trying to place the blame on the State? jmo

I've wondered with all the complex planning if she's done this before.

My reasoning that she did not go there "to kill him" is he would have opened the door, she would lift the gun shoot him at close range in the face and he would be dead. She would not drag it out in a last ditch attempt at unconventional sex acts, photographing each other nude...and then what everyone wonders was the "straw" that broke the camels back.

It is what it is, her realizing sex, shower, dressed, its over. Basically "wrong answer Travis"

I tend to agree with her "thinking" and feeling, as you described in the last post, and this above. I do believe there was, indeed, a "wrong answer, Travis" moment.

But I get stuck on the "she didn't go to kill him" when I think about all the actions and her behavior to get to Mesa and basically not leave a trail: had to stop and borrow gas cans from a former BF; seemed frantic and intent on going there; didn't leave a receipt trail in AZ; her cell phone was conveniently "off" on her driving into AZ and while in AZ (wasn't it off for about 20 hours or so?); rental car...with the plates upside down; she's supposed to be in UT to see a potential new fling, Ryan...but she never calls at any point at this time to state she's been delayed and won't get there when he's expecting her?, etc.

She pre-planned so many details. Why?

I am glad I am not the only one thinking that her finger was probably cut while she was stabbing Travis to death. My hubby cut a tendon in his finger at work and it looks just like the one JA held up...

If we really want to flip her out, Juan could create a witness and get this affidavit to her of a Zale's Salesman that sold Travis a 4ct Yellow Diamond on June 2, 2008 and the inside is inscribed "I Love You Jodi" and he planned to give it to her in Cancun where he was going to ask her to marry him. A trip he was making her think she was not going on, just like his charade of letting her go to Utah only to surprise her a few days later. Too bad she killed him.

I have a little book with my user name and passwords in case I forget one, or the computer crashes. Makes absolute sense to me that she found similar while 'dusting'.
