Interesting!
What places are mentioned in the 1000 places to visit book that are between Mesa and West Jordan?
She did mention Lake Powell ... IIRC she said she didn't go there ... wonder it there's a chance she did and that's where she disposed of the knife and gun?
Any religious sites in the 1000 places book or special Mormon sites between Mesa and West Jordan that might fit the bill?
Just trying to think in the way of Jodi's "symbology" brain.
Well, I'm sure she would have gladly added any of the 1000 places to visit before Travis dies if she was able to. Her story is always evolving, so you never know.
I think she said she drove straight to Yreka because she had to report for work, then drove back to Redding to return the car, and pick up her own car from her sister's house. Seemed odd that she wouldn't leave her car in the rental lot - I would have, I'd guess most people would (of course, I probably wouldn't have rented a car if I had a car to drive, or driven thousands of miles). But - why bug your sister for a ride when you have to drive to Redding anyway? Seemed silly.
If you didn't want your own car seen in the rental lot, you would do that.
I think she said she went back to her sister's and took a nap (again, most people would have just left a bit later, rather than drop in on sis for a ride to rental car, and a nap) - it made little sense.
I also think JM said something about her going back to Monterey or SeaSide after going to Salinas for a manicure (again, very little sense).
I'm not sure how far apart these places are, but if Redding took her 90 minutes to drive, and there was an extra stop in Monterey, that could account for the extra miles she drove.
