I listened to one of McCain's Naval Academy buddies discussing his activities while he was there-and some post Vietnam antics as well...Doesn't make him less than a politician or hero as far as I am concerned.

I ache for the families of these folks who are put through the ringer...they ultimately pay the price for the smear campaigns...it is alot like what is going on in the Caylee Anthony case-let's sling as much mud around as we can and deflect everyone from the facts.

Anyone who has seen Elizabeth Edwards lately can see she is not doing well whatever treatment she may or may not be receiving...I like her. She is a strong lady. I like Michelle Obama and Laura Bush as well-they are all grace under pressure.

Really? Good on 'em- as a resident at the time he was our absentee governor, I would say that his character has been proven time and time again when it comes to paying property taxes on his estate in NH, to his treatment of the family pets, to his focus on his next step when he was in office here...although he did a great job with the Olympics. JMO.

I guess when it comes to something like fidelity, I look at the spouse who is the one dealing with it. In the case of Hilary, or any others, they are the ones who have to lie down with their partner at the end of the day...

You're right DK but I don't think Edwards was even on the 'short list' with Obama.

It's rumored to be a BIG SUPRISE but I'm still hoping it'll be Joe Biden.

I think the story reveals what is going on when it says that the Enquirer received info about the alleged "meeting" before it was to occur. Now who would call the Enquirer to let them now such a thing??? Someone trying to set him up.
 
I simply hate election years & hearing all the dirty linen on our people in office.

I hate it too. And people become downright nasty to each other, over political differences. yuk!

I hope it isn't true about Edwards. If it is.. shame on him. Reminds me of the crap Rudy, and Gingrich pulled on there wives. For me, personal lives DO matter.

I turn the tv off. I will make my decision (probably McCain), a little closer to the time. I will ignore ALL political commercials.

OHHH... if anybody is interested, a GREAT place for finding the truth is the Truthometer. I love it! They weed through the half-truths, and outright lies, and put it all out there.

Perhaps the lack of interest is because it is not true? I laugh at the implication that there is a liberal bias in the media in the US....but I will save that for PP....

I do not believe Mr. Edwards has a mistress. I believe he is an honest man.

Rumors are started by people for different reasons - the people who started these rumors and believe them are just like the ones who think Mr. Obama is a muslim. If you remember, the story about Mr. Obama being a muslim has surfaced more than once. Does that mean it's true?

Don't believe everything you hear or read. Do some research and educate yourself.

I am sure many of you will not agree with my opinion, but this is mine and I am entitled to it.

lol I don't know what research I can do right now to prove John Edwards does or not have a love child; but I agree with you we shouldn't assume it is true until we have more proof than we have at present.

That's why I said "I'm more inclined to believe it but still waiting....(for more authoritative evidence)" The way the media is today, I don't believe anything unless it is confirmed by several sources.

The e-mail smears about candidates are a bunch of garbage, that's for sure. Too bad, too many people believe e-mails - like "click here for your IRS Visa refund".
 
I'm actually someone who believes the National Enquirer has some genuine journalistic merit - they have scooped other more reputable papers on a number of big stories over the years and so they have earned some respect from me.

That said, I'm not willing to accept this as truth without some other evidence. This story has been circulating for a long time. For several reason, I just am not convinced that there is merit to it.

I like John Edwards and his wife. If it turns out he fathered a child with another woman, I doubt that would change my opinion of them.

I agree there is no proof as of yet. But this story has been around sometime, but the national media stays away from it for some reason.

It has been confirmed he was at that hotel and he did HIDE in the bathroom. Now why was he hiding? It may not of been because of a love child, but he was doing something he didn't want to get out.

Yeah, I remember him giving back all the lawsuit dollars when his theories of preventable perinatal brain damage were shown false. He apologised to everyone whose careers he ruined too. Right?? Now just let me find that reference........
