I'm now wondering if we will ever know what happened to JP's mother. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding she "left town" or "disappeared" after the divorce from SP. If she is not known to be alive, one wonders if there were any mysterious explosions in towns where they had lived when JP was a kid.

PattyG, my post was in no way towards this poor case worker. It was to the world to take notice in courts etc. I feel in this situation or any any situation where a parent is a suspect/POI for a missing person, there should be a special place monitored by more than one case worker for visitations. Josh pushed her. That was an extremely dangerous case she had to handle.

And they just said on fox13now.comlive link that the blast happened as the social worker "got to her car". very fast!

She is only a person who was doing her job, and she narrowly escaped with her life. I certainly won't blame her for anything.

I'm sorry, but I pray that those who didn't see the signs that Josh could harm the boys or commit suicide/murder at anytime after his odd behavior, I pray they wake up now! Especially with the court ordered LDT & physco-sexual evaluation. jmo

I agree! I am so upset right now! Laws have to be changed, but will they? It was OBVIOUS Josh was had something to do with Susan's disappearance - more should have been done to protect those boys!!!! The social worker was just doing her job - it's not her fault. It's our law makers IMHO!

Yes, I think this is exactly what we will hear. Powell doesnt know how to feel real sadness imo. He will say poor Josh was persecuted and Ill even go so far as to say he could have put Josh up to all of this.

I feel the father is involved as well.

I don't blame the social worker at all - she was doing her job and I have no doubt she does it to the best of her ability. I can only imagine the trauma she's experiencing right now and I'm thankful she survived.

Having said that - I absolutely do blame CPS and the Pierce County Court for not requiring the supervised visitations to have taken place at a CPS office.

Charlie and Braden deserved to be protected from the POI in their mother's disappearance. The State and the Pierce County Court failed them.

Oh Patty I agree. It wasn't her decision to have the visit there.

This was nothing but about his control. He didn't love them they were possessions.

This has upset me like nothing in a long time. I never thought he was NOT seeing them at social services. I just wish they had had an officer escort them.

I am so sorry for the Coxes. I am glad however they did have a few months with the children and both had happy times. You can't tell me they didn't.

I don't see why that would be necessary considering the e-mail to the lawyer arrived 10 minutes before the blast, not after.

I swear I just read an article where his mother was quoted defending his parenting skills. Then his estranged sister said his mother hadn't seen him for years. I didn't know she was thought to be missing or I would have saved a link to the article. Maybe it was the one where it was announced he would undergo an evaluation.

I think it's pretty clear he didn't want her to try and interfere with his plans.
He likely didn't start the fire until the children got inside. And it looks like he had time to send some emails during that time as well.

He must have had the matches or lighter in his hand, it happened so immediately after the social worker walked away.

YESSSSS. They put this woman in a great deal of undeserved danger.
As we saw, they also failed to protect the boys, since there would have been little that a woman could do in a perp's home where he would have access to all kinds of killing devices.

What was the state thinking?????

He didn't have any money. No doubt it was a rental. So the landlord is just one more victim of Josh Powell.

I believe he was living in his father's home.
His father is in jail.

Correct- Plus they just officially declared it a Murder Suicide.

There is nothing left of that house- looks like a bomb dropped on it- he had that gas on for longer than a couple of minutes.

(My husband owns an IPO and depending on what internet provider you have e-mails can take seconds to hours before they are delivered on the other end. Realistically he could have had his mail server up on a few browsers with the emails all written and just had to repeatedly hit send when he heard the kids arrive)

JP's mother is alive and well and was living with his sister in Utah. After Steven Powell was arrested, she reportedly moved to Puyallup and was living in Steven's house! I assume it was for the purpose of caring for the mentally ill brother who was prone to walking around the house naked in front of the boys.

The mystery mother is Steven Powell's mother. He wrote a strange story about his parents taking turns kidnapping the kids from each other and he left it a mystery as to what happened to his mother in the end.

It all shows that this terrible tragedy was several generations in the making.
