<modsnip - no source, apparently rumor>

That does not line up with some of the possibilities bandied about. Narrows things I think.

Sounds like it could be terrorism, domestic or otherwise ?
Kudos to the brave people who jumped and tackled down at least one of them.
Imo.
Rest in peace, Lisa Lopez-Galvan.
Out for a parade and a fun day , turned into horror by some evil perps.
My utmost condolences to her loved ones !

3 suspects in custody. No charges yet. Still under investigation. Reporter asked if gang-related. Police chief says under investigation. Multiple firearms recovered. No updates on the conditions of children that were hospitalized. No information on additional reports of nearby shootings yesterday being related. Kansas City will continue to have major events including St Pats Day parade. Question about use of metal detectors for future events - not answered. Half of victims are under age 16. All expected to survive.

I am in awe at the bravery of these Good Samaritans, Great Samaritans actually, who tackled one guy with a gun. They apparently saved so many lives when they brought him down and got his gun away when it fell.

Whomever the suspects turn out to be, and whatever the motive, this was instinctual on the part of civilians who took him down before he could shoot anyone else.

Did the juveniles arrested have guns?? If so it’s just more failure on the easy ability to gun access.

I know the KC officials are saying “This is not Kansas City,” but it is now, tragically. IMO anyplace where someone can access a gun and shoot the innocent is a potential target.

Update from #KansasCity presser:

23 victims now
Half are under 16 years old
2 juvenile offenders
Several firearms recovered
No charges filed yet
24 hour deadline to file charges
Only one shooting location
Keeping the door open to finding other offenders

LATEST | Police say two juveniles are among those who remain in custody after Wednesday’s shooting at Union Station. KCPD Chief Graves said the shooting stemmed from a dispute between several people.

MOD NOTE:

There is a general gun control thread here:

If it isn't specific to this case, it will only derail this thread.

"Two Kansas City Chiefs parade shooting suspects are JUVENILES

who were having a 'personal dispute':

Ten questioned over gun chaos that

killed one,

injured 21,

and shamed the city on its big day.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas
did not offer a statement,
but remarked during questions from reporters that he would consider

blocking a future parade next year.

A witness who sustained a gunshot wound to his ankle, Jacob Gooch Jr,
claimed a woman pleaded with a gunman
'don't do it'
seconds before he spun in circles to pepper as many people with bullets as possible."

Bridget Barton was enjoying the #KansasCity Chiefs parade when gunfire erupted. She and her family fled to safety like thousands of others. When she got home and opened her backpack, she says she found a bullet lodged deep within one of her blankets. You can see the slug in the bottom left corner of her ziplock. She is now turning in the evidence to KCPD.

Observations…
Anybody who spins around in order to “pepper” the crowd, probably isn’t using a handgun.
Anybody who is in a personal dispute with someone probably wants to go after and target that one person and not turn their weapon on groups of random people.
If this was a group of young people, KC has a really big problem.
