GUILTY KS - Jessica Rey, 32, found dismembered, Lenexa, 20 Oct 2017

That hotel room must have been a horrific mess.

Agreed, Wyle... if that's where it happened. Although, that would make the most sense if she delivered the baby there. Unless she died from after effects.

I can't imagine that there would have been anyway to do that..without making a mess...

Most people would cut up the body in the bathroom (bathtub) so they can wash away the blood. Otherwise I presume hotel would have reported a large amount of blood found in the room?
Hotel may have. Who knows. With his state of mental health, or lack thereof, he doesn't sound functional enough to me to do much clean up even if he did use the tub. But I may be underestimating him.

The U-Haul center is right off of a major interstate I-35 in Lenexa, I presume with a lot of traffic at that facility. It has climate controlled units, not that they were in one. That could be why the police were called.

Jessica may have been alive when they went to stay there. jmo

:gasp:I'm horrified at the latest info of her being found in pieces. And there was no food found in the storage place where they were supposedly living. Please, please don't let this turn into a cannibalism case.... All I can think of is that I have heard of people eating the placenta after childbirth and the baby was only 5 days old...:yuck:

I agree. This is not the case I thought it was going to be... although, it's early into it so it may not go where I think.

This MSM article has a few more details, although it is from The Daily Mail...
"On October 23, staff at Woodspring Suites, the motel, said a man called the front-desk in a woman's voice, pretending to be her, to check them out.
Rey was filmed on surveillance footage that day leaving the hotel with a cooler and a stroller.
His wife was not with him when he left. From there, he is believed to have gone to the U-Haul unit in Lenexa."

Ok, so the dismembering did happen at the motel... what a strange case........ I don't know what to think of this guy?

From your link, also:

When questioned over his wife's whereabouts last week, Justin at first repeated his earlier story that she died in childbirth then claimed she had committed suicide.**

Changing stories is always suspicious, IMO.

Victim’s sister: ‘He chopped her up and put her in a cooler’ in Lenexa

snipped from article

Monteiro thinks that her sister died during or after childbirth and that Justin Rey tried to cover up the death for fear that the two children would be taken away by authorities.

“My sister deserves justice,” Monteiro said. “He could have taken her to a hospital, but he didn’t. Instead, he chopped her up and put her in a cooler.”

Police say that when they questioned Justin Rey he told conflicting stories about his wife’s death, first saying she died while giving birth to their newborn and later saying she committed suicide after giving birth.

While talking with police at the storage unit, Rey “spontaneously informed the officers his wife was inside the cooler and looked to the direction of a red and white Igloo-style cooler with wheels,” according to Jackson County Circuit Court records.

Poor Jessica, may she RIP! :rose:

Just tragic. I hope autopsy can confirm the manner of death (during child birth). I hope he doesn't turn out to have killed her.

the wife looks Caucasian to me.

I think the mother died in childbirth and she may have been illegal, from the videos and their fear of government/cps
Since he grabbed a jug of urine I wonder if it was feces in the cooler, that he did not want to leave any DNA to show it was them that had been in the rental unit.
I also wonder who called the police.
I could not find anything on the wife being reported missing.
I did notice a comment on one of his SM accounts, asking if the remains were " Jess"

It's very possible that she did die after giving birth. The more children a woman has had the more likely it is that she could hemorrhage after a delivery especially since she was delivering with no medical care. However it's just too weird that he would have dismembered her and called the front desk pretending to be her if he wasn't the one that caused her death. Such a strange case!

Poor Jessica, may she RIP! :rose:

It’s unclear when the family arrived in the Kansas City area, but Justin Rey and Jessica Rey — then pregnant — along with their 2-year-old child, checked into a hotel along Interstate 70 near the Truman Sports Complex on Sept. 25, according to an application for a search warrant filed by Kansas City police. Jessica Rey was last seen alive at that hotel on Oct. 20, according to police.
Three days later, Justin Rey called the front desk, disguising his voice as female, and checked out of their room, hotel management told investigators.
Police reviewing surveillance video from the hotel saw him walking through the hotel pulling a red cooler with a black bag on top of it, while pushing a stroller, with a toddler walking beside him. He left the hotel shortly after noon on Oct. 23. About an hour later, he returned to the hotel, saying he needed to get back into the room because he forgot something.
The next day, Lenexa police found Justin Rey, the two children and the cooler at the storage unit.
Monteiro, Jessica Rey’s sister, said family members had been worried for much of the 10 years she had been married to Justin Rey, whom Monteiro described as being potentially dangerous. In Arizona, he had been convicted of theft and making threats.

Sounds like the baby was born in the motel. Then they had been at the storage unit for one day. I wonder what he left in the room that he came back an hour late for? Or was it make sure it was cleaned good? Obviously it wasn't normal thinking, because if you're having complications from a birth, then the ER would be a good place to go. Then after she died, from what we don't know yet, but dismembering her wasn't normal thinking either. Would have been better to leave the body there, "IF" it was a childbirth issue. I don't understand him saying she committed suicide though. That's scares me, because I don't want this to be a murder... It's not normal thinking, yet I can see him doing a rustic, awful Csection if she died in labor, and the baby was still alive. But I don't think the percentage is high in saving the baby then, even under great medical care. I'm shocked her knew how to cut the cord on the baby, but maybe there's a youtube video for that. No idea what formula this baby has been getting, or if she was getting any formula at all. VERY thankful she's still alive.

Very bizarre case. I just really hope he didn't murder the mother of his kids, and wife of 10yrs.

In his tormented mental state, is it possible he said suicide because he thinks he won't be in legal trouble for that, but to say she had childbirth issues, and he failed to get medical care, he could be in trouble?

I don't know.

Police seize hotel surveillance system in death of mom found in Lenexa storage unit

snipped

Newly-released court records said Jessica was last seen at the Woodsprings Suites around Friday, Oct. 20. That’s where the family had been staying for about a month, near Kauffman Stadium.

The day before police arrested him, hotel staff said Rey called the front desk, disguised his voice as a female, and checked out of their room. Surveillance video showed him pulling the cooler through the hotel, walking with their two-year-old, and pushing the newborn in a stroller.

I wonder why the hotel didn't want to give up the surveillance video willingly? Surely they didn't feel liable.

I think it must just be a policy that hotels/motels don't release video. Maybe they don't want other guests to be seen in it? Protect their privacy? I know I've seen it happen in other cases. Maybe like Mandalay Bay in NV...claims they don't have video in the hallways.

Trey Manny is another name he goes by on social media at least.

This video he mentions the name

I watched the videos from youtube on CPS. From what I can gather, from his and Jessica's point of view, the 1st two kids that were removed, Jessica and Justin had decided to take a trip, and while riding bicycles. The kids were in carts of some sort behind the bicycles. Somehow CPS and police got involved. Still not sure why. From the videos of him interacting with the kids, he didn't know how to parent, IMO. He keeps calling the kids' name over and over, but not any real playing, directing, parenting. In one video he shows all these business cards, several for different parenting, mental help, etc. Now, according to him, they did all that, and the system still kept the kids. But later in a video with Jessica, she states they weren't offered any classes. So no idea what happened there.

The third child was born in a hospital. Child was taken into CPS at the hospital. Still no idea what the investigation was.

The fourth child was born in a bathtub, with no prenatal care. According to them, a midwife was involved, but I wonder. The child was taken from them, but returned with a few days. There's a voice video, you can hear a social worker or someone official bringing the child back to them, and stating it was taken because of lack of prenatal and the doctors needed to check the child. Jessica mentions breastfeeding and sounds like she cries after they leave. The video is just of a black screen. No showing of the child, or anything. Just a black screen. According to their videos, this child was removed again within just a couple hours of having been returned. No idea what was going on.

Of course I can't see what the official documents state, or anything about any of the cases. Just that CPS has taken 4 kids.
,
I can understand why they didn't want CPS knowing they had another child if they truly do not understand why the kids were taken before. However, in listening to Jessica talking about the kids being removed, she said he told her not to be sad, or say she was upset because CPS would put her in a mental home... So it would appear that she took guidance and or was controlled by him.

I pray all the kids are OK now, and will have wonderful lives.

If you look at the dates on the video of their parenting classes and stop the video to read the letters, it looks like they did those classes while Jessica was pregnant with their first child and then they attended classes throughout her second pregnancy as well. There must have been some concern even early on about Justin and Jessica, but it is not clear why. I think they were not offered parenting classes once the children were removed by CPS as a means to get them back.

According to the Kansas City paper, Jessica's sister, Sara Monteiro believes "her sister could have regained custody of the children if she had left her husband.

“She was a good person. She was influenced by this guy in a bad way. She felt sorry for him, and she was loyal. She was good with the kids,” Monteiro said."
