Does anyone know why the reconstruction is not listed on NamUS? Also are you using Kansas Police department or Kansas Bureau of Investigation as a contact?
thanks

Looking back at the NamUs page, I'm not sure that it's even the same UID.

The NCIC number is the same, but the Discovery Date is not the same, the age is not the same, and there is no mention of the physical characteristics and medical hardware mentioned in DoeNet.

When I search NamUs for any UID's found on October 12, 1999, it returns nothing.

My contact was at the KCPD.

Vivian Botz does look like a good possibility. The age difference is not that far off. As people get older, the ability to accurately estimate their age decreases.

There isn't a view of her left temple to evaluate whether she has a similar scar. The other scarring on her face look more like the result of a medical condition than the result of a traumatic injury.

While I was out this morning, I received a message from a Detective Jenkins from KCPD. He had additional questions, but when I returned his call, all I got was his answering machine. When I do talk to him, I'll mention Vivian as an alternative possible.

I just spoke with Detective Jenkins. He says that they ruled-out Vivian Botz based on dentals.

Regarding Nancy Estremera, he has a call out to Broward County, but they aren't responding as fast as he would like. He says that he is trying not to come across as pushy with them, but he will put a call in tomorrow for a follow-up.

You guys are great! Both look like good matches to me. The wired jaw and skull fracture immediately made me think "domestic violence." My sister's husband (ex now) beat her so badly that her jaw was broken and wired shut and she was very badly injured (and 8 months pregnant!) I wonder if either of these women had someone in their lives that was/is violent. I haven't looked at either particular case yet so I will go look. Just thought it might be possible rather than an automobile accident.

I was born with a deformed jaw and have had surgery on it three times. I can tell you from having my mouth wired (longest two and a half months) that as soon as you can get those wires out you do. For most people who have never not been able to talk or eat real food for a long amount of time maybe its hard to really grasp what that tells us about this victim. Its been years since I've undergone jaw surgery but I can still remember how horrible it was not to be able to eat real food or communicate effectively with the outside world. My guess from what I have read is that this women was a victim of domestic violence. Also after undergoing jaw surgery I was unable to brush my teeth and had to use a water pik. These were kinda pricey at the time and if she was a victim of abuse then probrably would not have had the funds to purchase one. I'm guessing without a water pik my teeth would have gone from perfect condition to signs of neglect (cavities, tarter build up etc.). Besides this evidence, the broken ribs also indicate the deseased was in an abusive relationship.

Is Babette Alberti [Phillips] at all a possibility? Her NamUs entry indicates that she had her jaw wired due to a fracture at some point. She also suffered broken ribs during her youth, although the UID's Doe Network entry sounds like the rib fractures were perimortem. She disappeared from Louisiana in 1983. The difference in height is very large — 65-68 inches for the UID, about 60 inches for Babette Alberti — but the UID's height is apparently an estimate derived from the remains that were found, a skull and a few ribs.

Has Babette been definitively ruled-out? Zinc is correct...the circumstances are too similar IMO to ignore. I was looking for possibilities for another thread/topic when I came across her; I immediately thought of this case and noticed it was already proposed.

Any chance this could be The Doe Network:
Case File 2203DFKS - Tabitha Diane Brewer? Age is way, way off but the rest seems to fit. Just thought I would put her in the mix.

That's pretty tempting with the skull fracture and wires in the jaw, and the Kansas connection. Usually, age estimates from birth to late teens are fairly accurate. The big screw-ups on age estimates occur with people in the early 20's and older. But often, the reason why these people remain unidentified so long is because of a major screw-up of some sort in the information provided.

I was looking at the first photo (i.e. above at the left), and said to myself that her facial shape was way off. But then I took a closer look at the other photo (above, second from left), and thought her facial shape isn't that far off after-all.

(Also worth noting: Tabitha Diane Brewer's stats align very well with the UID's, but Tabitha was apparently ruled out via DNA, according to a thread:

Hi all, per my post quoted above, Tabitha Brewer was supposedly ruled out via DNA.

Thanks for that info. Zinc. Ah well, back to the drawing board! :blushing:

And Carlk thanks for having a look. Always helps to have another perspective.

Christina Burnett Pitts went missing from Missouri in 2008. She certainly has something going on with the left side of her face. I am not saying that she has a wired jaw or a previous skull fracture, because I just don't know, but there is a chance of injury due to the way her face looks. I also read in one of the recent news articles about her disappearance that she was in an abusive relationship.

The body found was in 1999, therefore could not be Christina since she didn't go missing until 2008.

Here's a new NamUs case just added today.

Does anyone suppose that might be a large scar on her left cheek? - or is it just a photographic anomaly? She has a similar mark on her right cheek.

She does look very similar to the recon, and her height (5'5" to 5'6") is right. There is a 2 1/2 month timeline from DLC to discovery, but they don't have a postmortem interval indicated for the Jane Doe.

There doesn't appear to be a NamUs casefile for this Jane Doe, although there is a another Kansas City female listed in NamUs who was found on 01-Nov-1999 with a wider age range, and very little additional info.

Diana Richardson had an odd facial issue from an accident. She had a plastic cheek implant that possibly could have become lost during decomposition leaving a dent in her skull. I don't know why her body/skull would have ended up in KS, but I supposed the killer could have moved her there. It is a big stretch...and I mean BIG, but it never hurts to throw stuff out there.

No, it's been updated with more info in August and it's the same one.

Address 1 Emmons & Sorter Drive
Skeletal remains were recovered from a wooded ravine in October and November of 1999 in Kansas City, KS. The circumstances of the death are unknown.
Age 2640, height estimate 67 inches.
Healed fractures of the left zygomatic process, left 2nd rib and jaw. There is evidence of old blunt traumatic injury to the right middle forehead. Arthritic changes in the lower left ribs. Last lumbar vertebra shows spondyloloysis.
repair of fractured jaw with placement of surgical wire
women's size 8 1/2 shoe recovered with remains

I don't know how Tabitha Brewer could have been ruled out by DNA if, as the Namus page says, the DNA sample has not been submitted.

I mapped the approximate distance from where Tabitha's boyfriend's body and the couple's belongings were found to the Jane Doe site and it's a 23 minute drive
