*Motions Hearing (@ 1:30pm CT) - KS – Nicholas Ecker, Jr. (17 mos.) born in 2020 (died in fire set by father, Feb. 13, 2022, Shawnee) – *Nicholas Adam Ecker, Sr. (28/now 30) “father” arrested & charged (2/14/22) & arraigned (8/10/22) with 1st degree murder & aggravated arson with bodily harm, & added (2/15/22) felony stalking charge & added (8/10/22) with firearm possession by a felon. Plead not guilty. $1M bond. Johnson County
Trial set to begin on 9/23/24.

2/22/24 Update: Plaintiff appears by attorney Shannon, defendant appears in custody with attorney Dunn. State withdraws motion to permit consumption (Doc 86). Time until 6/10/24 to definitely time from 6/10-9/23/24 to State. Next motions hearing on 7/19/24 @ 1:30pm, pretrial conference hearing on 9/20/24 @ 9am & trial set to begin on 9/23/24 @ 9am thru 10/4/24.
7/19/24 Update: Plaintiff appears by Shannon & Hurst, defendant appears in custody with attorney Duma. Evidence presented; motion granted to/for expert. Continued by defense. Defendant ordered to personally appear at ext court hearing in person. Next motions hearing on 9/10/24 @ 1:30pm.
*Karlie Mae Phelps (28/now 30) “mother” – Plead guilty on 8/18/22 & sentenced on 10/6/22 sentenced to serve 36 months of probation. See post #80 (page 4) for sentencing explanation. GO Probation Revocation hearing on 9/22/23.
