And what a coward. A change of venue? So this grown man needs a change of venue because of how much publicity this case had gotten.. how about Crystals mom living in that town after not only her daughter was killed, but her husband.. she didn't run and hide. She has stood strong and stayed there where not only Brooks, but his entire family can be in the grocery store or any other place Sheri might go. She didn't leave when she of all people had every reason to be afraid and leave the area after what has happened.. now HE wants to move the trial out of the area.. boy I swear.. I don't have words. I'll just say we stand with you Ms. Sherry Ballard. What was done in the dark is going to be brought to light no matter where the trial is located.

I'd be really surprised if BH's bond is lowered. imo

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WDRB) -- Prosecutor Shane Young told a Nelson County judge Thursday that the investigation into the death of Crystal Rogers is also an investigation into the death of her father, Tommy Ballard.

During a hearing for the accused killer of Crystal Rogers, a prosecutor dropped a bombshell about their families and another unsolved killing.

More than a year after Rogers disappeared from Bardstown, her father, Tommy Ballard, was killed while hunting. For years, his case has also gone unsolved, still without any arrests.

Houck was in court virtually on Thursday, where a judge was expected to hear a bond reduction request, but much more happened.

Hardin County Commonwealth's Attorney Shane Young, special prosecutor, dropped new information that he says could link Houck's family to the shooting of Ballard.

Young told the courtroom that during their investigation, a firearm was purchased that they believe was used to kill Ballard. They said it matches four of the five criteria they use to match, but they are still waiting on some testing.

And he said that firearm was bought from Houck's brother, Nick Houck. He said Nick was using a fake name during the sale.

How would the family of Brooks know the grand jury was going to be about him? Isn't grand jury proceedings secret? I didn't realize they were open to the public and I definitely didn't know that whatever was being presented was public knowledge ahead of time so the person possibly being indicted would know what was going on.

they may have been called as witnesses. When the grand jury was seated for the pike county murders, they called family members of the accused as witnesses, in which some lied and was caught doing so.

Oh I see. Interesting. I guess I assume the idea is to keep it quiet so the accused doesn't get wind of something and run. I wonder what benefit they thought they'd get from any of his family members. I wonder how they found out they were recording the proceedings.

Maybe all of their testimonies were a little too much alike. As in memorizing a script. or maybe someone told. I feel that Mr. Lawson gave them the pieces of the puzzle that they were missing.. I also believe they either found evidence in that subdivision search or farm search that implicated Mr. Lawson since he was indicted a lot sooner than Brooks. He gave them the info they needed to connect them. i also believe he set up the gun sale between the investigators and Nick. My opinion only.

The Houck family reminds me of the Wagner family in OH.
There are a lot of similarities, right down to the grandmother’s. I had read somewhere that Investigators believe that Brooks grandmothers car was used to transport Crystals body.. The Wagner brothers used their grandmothers pond to hide the murder weapons.

I remember that, too. And it seems that they were never able to get their hands on that vehicle because it had been destroyed, or they just could never locate it. (IMO -- I may be totally wrong about this!)
