I can't believe it unless someone here can show that she was a witness in a VERY BIG case.

OK so say she ddin't SEE anthying but got caught "overhearing" something say in a bathroom stall?

It is at all possible that they can track another member, find out their real name and location?? I don't know much about hacking and such or how difficult it would be. I once interviewed a serial killer and used a fake name, but would still be VERY worried if he escaped.
Sue they could BUT they would need the "LINK" to go there! KWIM?

I'm pretty sure security precautions are in place.

If you make your location vague and don't mention your particular coordinates, you can feel safe, I think.

SO a "friend" could lurk in the shadows as long as the recipeint allowed them to "FRIEND" them or be their "friend"?

missgulf we can disagree then :) i stand by my post thats mixed up in there somewhere....
but some people dont have the luxury of being safe and sound, they do what they have to to make ends meet. to keep a roof over their head and feed themselves....esp. these days.
dancing is a higher income.

Sorry to say, it happens in very "small" cases too. All it takes is for a petty criminal to not want to go to jail. My town of about 100,000 just had two drive-by shootings at witnesses in PETTY crimes. Thugs. Just thugs. No moral compass. And the 3-strikes law seems to make it even worse. Criminals doing "small" crimes just don't want to go back to jail and will kill witnesses, even if the "crime" was stealing change from a vending machine.

I worked in juvenile justice in my early career and I've seen it. It doesn't take a "really big case" at all.

Right. I drive past convenience stores and see young women working ALONE in the middle of the night. Equally dangerous.

true, very dangerous... yet I suggest that the ownership and relationships of those that operate adult entertainment venues are quite possibly of a more unusual breed... a whole different family, if you will

dancing is a much higher income than walmart or mcdonalds ! i know.

Dont believe it as its not the case. Jaren walked out of her place of employment early Wed morning with a group of people. This was caught on a camera as they are all over the place down there. In fact, you can watch Bourbon St. right now if you'd like.... http://www.earthcam.com/usa/louisiana/neworleans/bourbonstreet/

LE feels that not all the people in the group were known. LE has been working hard on this and there are many things that cant be posted that only family and very close friends know. LE has gathered a lot of information. Information that for good reason wont be released to the media. Not even the family is talking.

And the headline is ... Strip Club Dancer's death... I am sick of so-called MSM's use of titillating descriptors in its reporting. So, if a secretary was murdered, would the headline include what she did as a living? I think not. Sensationalism sells. "If it bleeds, it leads." In our (IMHO) politically correct society it must be acceptable to label other human beings, unless they are part of the "protected classes."

Would love to hear your other theories!
i wonder where the hands are. used to be perps got rid of the fingers due to prints.
now with dna things are different.
i live close to the area where her torso was found . water very shallow here. i find it unusual her clothes washed up too. i would think there would be many snags if this subhuman piece of refuse put jaren's body in the water near nola.
anyway i moved away from nola over 18 years ago and i ain't looking back. too dangerous to raise kids there.
i am so sorry about what happened to this lovely young lady.

To Jaren!

When tomorrow starts without me
And I'm not there to see;
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today;
While thinking of the many things
We didn't get to say. I know how much you love me
As much as I love you;
And each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand. She said my place was ready
In heaven far above;
And that I'd have to leave behind,
All those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye;
For all my life, I'd always thought
I didn't want to die. I had so much to live for,
So much yet to do;
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays,
The good ones and the bad;
I thought of all the love we shared,
And all the fun we had.If I could relive yesterday
Just even for awhile,
I'd say goodbye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized
That this could never be;
For emptiness and memories
Would take the place of me. And when I thought of worldly things
I might miss come tomorrow;
I thought of you, and when I did,
My heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven's gates
I felt so much at home;
When God looked down and smiled at me
From His great golden throne. He said, "This is eternity
And all I've promised you;
Today your life on earth is past,
But here it all starts anew."
"I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last;
And since each day's the same day,
There's no longing for the past."
"But you have been so faithful,
So trusting and so true;
Though at times you did do things,
You knew you shouldn't do."
"But you have been forgiven
And now at last you're free;
So won't you take my hand
And share my life with me?" So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here in your heart.

:(

Jaren you are missed baby girl!

but at least this brings attention to the case,and hopefully enhance the chance for justice to be served against the monster that did this to her.

Yes, it's possible a perp reads or even posts here.
i read comments on news articles to see if someone sounds like a perp !
i am certain they google their crimes and enjoy the outrage of society.
also for practical reasons so they can stay 1 step ahead of the game and get a hint if law enforcement is onto them yet.

omg. and i am a new member ! i hope to hell not .

To have someone like that walking free in society is so frightening! We don't know if this person lives in NOLA or is here in Bay St. Louis! Were they connected to her club, or out looking for a random walker? She was taken from the French Quarter, right? Isn't that supposed to be the safest place in NOLA? Is LE warning women to be extra cautious with this unknown psycho out there?

BBM above. I love the French Quarter, BUT it is absolutely NOT the safest place in NOLA.

As a life long resident of Louisiana, it saddens me to see so much crime happening and to see innocent young women disappear or be killed. It doesn't matter if they were riding their bike late at night, working as a dancer or just involved with an abusive man- they didn't deserve their fate and it is not their fault. No matter how they ended up in life, they were loved by someone, someone's child and maybe someone's parent.

Louisiana has always had a unique history and New Orleans has always had a reputation for good times, great food and lovely women. There is a long and quite interesting history of prostitution in New Orleans. Just this week, in our local paper, there was write up about a historical house of ill repute and how it and its former owner were well known. There were many well known madams thru the years who gained money, power and prestige in their profession. They are not looked down on. Many of them were really smart business women with fascinating stories.

The old style "sporting houses" are long gone but there are many clubs here today where young women dance for a living. Some of them are not very nice. I've known some girls who have worked in them. Really sweet girls caught in a rough spot in life and having to support themselves and often others.

But how does one get to the point in their lives where they work in some of these places? Some people say it could never happen to them, no way, its sinful, it's wrong, there are other options, etc, etc. But lets say you are a young mom, or simply a single female trying to make it on your own. Sorry but minimum wage isn't going to be enough to live on. Sure you might be able to do it but it won't be easy and you will always struggle. I've known a few girls who have been down that path. Sweet girls who deserved more than they got in life but they kept trying.

So you have a friend who has a nice car or lots of clothes and she works at a club. You get tired of seeing everyone with nice things while you struggle to get the bare necessities. You can work in the club as a waitress, bartender or hostess and keep your clothes on. Your friend is nice and she works there. But then you get there and see that there is more money to be made dancing. It's fast money, cash in hand at night when you go home.

Often in life, situations happen and a financial crisis will occur and money needs to be made fast and dancing is a quick way to do it. I imagine that after the first time you go onstage and get the applause and the money that it might help the esteem (at first) of someone who has had it rough in life.

And so it happens. You get caught up in the life, maybe acquire some habits, and it's hard to break free. It's not like little girls dream of growing up and working as a dancer at a seedy place, but then again, a lot of things happen in life that you don't expect.

I'm not saying Jaren was working doing anything other than dancing, doesn't matter to me even if she was, she was a victim of a horrible crime and there are people grieving for her this minute and they will continue to grieve forever. She was a beautiful woman and has a child who will grow up without her. This is such a tragedy.
