I think a boat might have been used to enter into the body of Lake Borgne, but still close enough to shore that the water pushed the remains more westward than south into the open GOM.
Anyone familiar with the water along the Mississippi Sound knows that objects wash ashore. Think of the oil plumes and dead animals that lined the shore from LA to FL after the BP catastrophe. Considering the distinctive tattoos and piercings, dismemberment did little to disguise Jaren's identity, so I don't think that was the purpose. It's occurred to me that the remains were meant to be found and identified as a warning to others. OTOH, maybe the perp is just dumb.
I'm familiar with the waters and such in BSL & PC - please forgive me if this has been covered, I'm only about half way through the thread. The possibility of sharks consuming the body is almost zero. Yes, there are BITES, but never repeated attacks on one victims. Believe me, sharks would much rather eat other things. The waters in the area get really deep, especially in the intracoastal waterway that runs along the coast, and the barge shipping channel from Mobile to Houston.
It is logistically possible for her to have been disposed of in New Orleans East and wash up in PC, BSL, etc. Just speculating, but I think 2 things could have happened: the murderer works offshore on a workboat/oil rig, and dismembered to "drop off" on his way out to sea, thinking they would be washed further away or never seen again. 2) the murderer disposed of the body in NOLA east in an abandoned marsh area (much more likely, plenty of opportunity) and never expected her to be found for some time. BUT, then it rained so much, area got flooded and washed the remains out into the gulf. Who would go to that trouble to dismember then just let them float?
And I agree he's most likely a hunter/fisherman. We fish often, and some of the fish bones are really hard to cut through, and requirement automatic filet knives and such.
