Circumstances of Disappearance
Watson had been depressed about the recent death of his mother, so his aunt phoned him on June 19, 1983 and invited him to a party. While they were talking, his aunt heard a car horn blow and Watts told her he had to put on his shoes and was going to go help a friend move some appliances. She imagined Watts had to dash out the door but would phone her later. He never did. A week later, his grandfather reported him missing.

Watts was barefoot when he disappeared - both pairs of his shoes were found in his bedroom and his wallet was on his bed. He has been described as a quiet, studious person who preferred staying home and watching television to hanging out in bars and nightclubs. He had worked as a salesman and was majoring in electrical engineering at LSU. He has not been seen nor heard from since.
