One last post before I leave. I hate gas stations at night. I would not feel anymore safe there than on the route she was headed.

Perhaps she was not followed by said white truck. but a swamp monster.....
Get some rest, sweetie.

I really enjoy reading your posts, helpful. You convey sweetness and intelligence and a very good heart. We have to help each other, especially the older folks. We can't just stop because of the potential for danger. That's why it's so SO important to learn to hear what your instincts are saying to you and refute the pc-ness that tells us never to judge. We HAVE to make judgment calls in order to stay safe and survive.

An incident on my way home from work this afternoon got me thinking.

I walk about two miles from my office to my apartment. Today, I was about a block from home when I saw a man at the bus stop. He was probably about 70 and had a white cane.

As I was walking past, he asked me for help. He couldn't read the schedule (obviously) and had been waiting for a long time because another bus driver had given him wrong directions. Our transit authority has a system that you can text for the next bus at a particular stop, but it's not very useful if you can't read the stop number and can't see the keys on your phone to text.

I admit I hesitated: he was bigger than I am (not difficult) and I thought about Mickey. I decided to stop because it was broad daylight, we were on a busy road, he didn't have a vehicle, and the whole blind thing. I helped him out and waited with him to make sure he got on his bus. All was well.

However, as I finished walking home, I considered that Mickey might have stopped to give someone directions. Maybe a driver waved her over, or shouted a request for directions. I hate to say it, but girls, especially, are taught to be polite and sometimes it's hard to say no or just walk away, especially to older men. Maybe she thought someone was lost in an unfamiliar city in the middle of the night and legitimately in need of help. Has this hypothesis been discussed at any length?

Also, it pretty much stinks that criminals have made it so that nice people have to stop and think before they help someone in need.

It's everywhere

Sometimes it gets relabeled and the ban can't be enforced.

I know I'm , not always around, but if I am and anyone has questions about bath salts, please let know. It is within my field.

From KATC:
Special K-Nines Recovery Specialist arrived in Lafayette to help aid in the search. At this point they have decided not to communicate with the main Mickey search. Instead they are choosing to search on their own terms. They currently do not want to speak to the media. This new team has dogs that specialize in recovering cadavers and evidence.

...NOT communicating? At all?

Bless you! For taking the time AND THE RISK! The world needs more people like you!

A little strange, yeah... But, maybe they are figuring that nothing has been found in quite a while and they want to go about their business "untainted" with the opinions that have already be formed? Go at it with a fresh approach? This could be a very good thing.

Still, quite strange.

I haven't heard of this till today! What's the deal? Are they being used recreationally or to impair someone? I read they cause suicidal tendencies. Why would someone want to do this to themselves &the how does this come into play with Mickey's case?

Me too. I've known about them for awhile, but to be honest, never really thought about how they made it all happen until this case. I will definitely be donating to their cause. What an amazing organization.

I've been donating for awhile now, Tim is one soul that is headed for heaven if there is one. He doesn't turn anyone down unless he has damn good reason to do so.

Might not be strange at all if they have a good lead, and now, finally today, I'm wondering if they didn't get that lead in the last two days.

There was a case that hit Lafayette news today a guy in Scott they're speculating may have been under the influence of bath salts. Recreational use, from all I have heard. Sold in head shops, smoke shops. They've been outlawed in LA from what I understand.

PlainJaneDoe, TY for offering your expertise. My question is not about bath salts, but Methamphetamine. It seems that many of the serial & sexual predator crimes that I have researched, more often than not, have meth as a common denominator. Can you explain what meth does to the mind that seems to breed psychopathic behavior. TIA

:blushing: Thanks.

I just hope the poor old guy got to where he was going. I can't believe that a bus driver would just let an obviously blind person off the bus without making sure he knew when the next one would arrive.

Bath salts are y'all talking about "legal" I tried it when it was actually legal a few years back all it does is get you crazy high and paranoid to the MAX I have to say didnt make me want to kill myself though!
