“It works tremendously well when it’s given the tools to work,” said Dan Gross, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, an advocacy group. “But it’s widely inconsistent from state to state.”

I worked in Lafayette for four years and came to love that community. The people in Acadiana are the nicest, friendliest people I've ever encountered. It hurts my heart that this happened anywhere, let alone in Lafayette.

Sending love and light to the family and friends of the victims, especially Mayci's and Jillian's friends and families. Those were two young women who had so much to offer the community and world.

I also don't think I'll be going to see a movie in a movie theater anytime soon.

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Police in Louisiana have released photos of a car that a gunman was driving before he opened fire in a movie theater.

Lafayette police said in an email Tuesday that they are releasing the photographs in hopes that people may have seen the blue 1995 Lincoln Continental and may remember encountering John Russell Houser.

Investigators want those people to come forward as they try to piece together what led to Houser's shooting spree on Thursday night.

Actually, I'm the one who posted most of the twisted ramblings. My purpose? An effort to understand what drove him to commit such an atrocious act, by piecing together a snapshot of his personality.

But that may not be as much his personality as the outpouring of a mentally ill mind. Back when Son of Sam was arrested, no one cared what he rambled except who Sam was.

Thanks for the such kind words. I'm so proud of my hometown. We live life to the fullest and support one another. I've seen a great deal of goodwill and playing it forward. We're a resilient group. #Lafayette Strong.

These kinds of things seem to spur copycats. A man in NJ was recently found wearing a bullet-proof vest and carrying glocks, hollow-point bullets, and a backpack full of handcuffs. The area he was in has a movie theater among other businesses. Really no telling exactly what he had planned (if anything) but it sure doesn't look good. http://patch.com/new-jersey/morrist...an-found-morristown-plaza-guns-illegal-ammo-0

Louisiana movie theater, scene of shooting, to reopen in November

LAFAYETTE, La. – A remodeled Grand 16 Theatre is set to reopen Nov. 19, nearly four months after a gunman opened fire during a movie screening, leaving two young women dead and a community shaken.

Lafayette City-Parish President Joey Durel arrived at the theater's box office Monday morning to purchase the first ticket sold since July, a gesture he said was symbolic of the community’s desire to move forward from tragedy.

“It’s like any wound. It’s got to heal,” he said. “I think this is a final step in the healing process for Lafayette.”

THE MENTALLY UNSTABLE gunman who shot up a cinema in the American state of Louisiana last summer left a rambling, hate-filled journal in which he called the US. a “filth farm,” railed against women, gay people and blacks, and thanked a man accused of killing nine churchgoers in South Carolina for his “wake up call.”
