Doping agency claims 'overwhelming' proof of cheating by cyclist Armstrong

The evidence of the US Postal Service Pro Cycling Team-run scheme is overwhelming and is in excess of 1000 pages, and includes sworn testimony from 26 people, including 15 riders with knowledge of the US Postal Service Team (USPS Team) and its participants’ doping activities.

I have personally talked with and heard these athletes’ stories and firmly believe that, collectively, these athletes, if forgiven and embraced, have a chance to leave a legacy far greater for the good of the sport than anything they ever did on a bike.

Lance Armstrong was given the same opportunity to come forward and be part of the solution. He rejected it.

I am glad that is over. I wonder if LA will ever confess? Probably not. And for the last few remaining LA supporters desperately clinging onto the negative doping tests. Hincapie has now come out and admitted to doping use. He never had a positive test either.

Here are the files for the USADA case, with affidavits in the "Appendices and Supporting Materials" tab:

It's very extensive, more so than I had thought it would be.

And the London Sunday Times may sue Armstrong for alleged fraud in a libel settlement.

Four more sponsors dropped Lance today.

I think it's pretty clear.

Here's a link to an interesting assessment of one of Armstrong's charity events -- guess these things were pretty lucrative for him:

Below is a video of Armstrong speaking this Friday at the Livestrong gala. Now that he's been exposed as a lying cheat, he comes across as awkward and dismal. Even his loyal crowd of Lance-Bots can't quite get with the "spirit"...

He's a cheat plan a simple.

As a kid, my dad would whoop us and say, "There's nothing left but the tears."

My dad was wrong, with corporal punishment, but he has the right quote for Lance.

As Ellie Mae mentioned, Lance is a cheat, plain and simple. Even Lance won't dispute the truth now.

What a terrible fall from grace this is for a figure who was larger than life.
He inspired countless people who fought battles against cancer and other challenges.
Yet it seems his own demons brought him down.
The toll of arrogance and (I suspect) narcissism is devastating.
I really hate to see this happen. There are no winners here, except the TRUTH.
I pray this will have some positive impact of some sort in the future.

He lied & cheated his whole career & got greedy. He is using the I passed all these test as his stepping stone to get the public to believe him,but he is leaving out the fact that they have tested his blood with new tech and he did test positive. He tried to ruin people's lives over this-he is not a nice person!!
I would ask those who believe him this question...If Sheryl Crow came out and said she saw him doping would you believe her??(she has not said this-just asking)
I am glad they took everything from him..he needs a attitude adjustment!!JMO

He cheated the public.. He is a creep. I agree.

Most non-athletes don't realise that it's not difficult to cheat with drugs. New drugs and masking drugs are being developed far quicker than tests to discover them. Plus, there are many ways - as the Armstrong investigation has shown - of evading the current testing technologies anyway.

‘South Park’ Takes Aim at…Lance Armstrong?

by Reuters | October 29, 2012 at 8:29 PM | South Park, TV News

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Animated TV comedy satire “South Park” is taking aim at a disgraced icon who seems a lot like seven-time Tour de France winning cyclist Lance Armstrong.

In a teaser clip released on Monday by Comedy Central, an episode titled “A Scause for Applause” shows residents of the fictional American town standing in line to get their yellow wristbands removed.

While the teaser for the October 31 episode does not refer to Armstrong by name, Comedy Central said in a statement that it deals with “the recent news of drug use by a beloved icon” and “the world is left feeling lost and betrayed”...

IOC opens inquiry into Armstrong's Olympic medal

By STEPHEN WILSON, AP

LONDON — The IOC opened an investigation Thursday into Lance Armstrong's role in a doping scandal that has already wiped out his seven Tour de France titles and could cost him his Olympic bronze medal.

The IOC will also examine the Olympic involvement of other riders and officials implicated in a U.S. Anti-Doping Agency report that detailed "the most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program that sport has ever seen."

Cycling's governing body, the UCI, last week stripped Armstrong of his Tour de France titles from 1999-2005. Armstrong could also lose the bronze medal he won in the road time trial at the 2000 Sydney Olympics...

As with the UCI, WADA will also not appeal USADA's decision. WADA is also interested in an inquiry into the UCI's anti-doping practices.

Johan Bruyneel, the US Postal Team director, has chosen to fight the USADA charges against him. If his case goes to arbitration, Armstrong could be subpoenaed to testify under oath. Could be interesting.
