Landscaper says Terri Horman wanted him to kill her husband!

Considering this new development, I am still wondering, who is the legal guardian of her teen son at this point? I'd like to know if LE has been able to interview him. Surely he can shed a great deal of light about the family dynamics before he moved out.

Being ASKED to kill someone's spouse does not make you a criminal; saying YES does.

I am not saying being asked to makes you a criminal, not reporting the attempt to hire is I believe.

I think hiring was done by saying that they would get part of the life insurance. She probably showed them the value of the policy.

He did not report an attempt to hire him to kill someone. I believe that is a crime.

The crime, in general, is called misprision of felony. I'm not certain it is a crime in Oregon vis-a-vis murder for hire. I can't find a statute, and I don't have time to keep researching this.

LE probably has bigger fish to fry in this case, and may need this guy in the future. They can charge him any time if they want to, so why jump the gun? They may have told him what they knew and said they would not charge him if he spoke with them, and not been lying when they said that.

True. And the fact that this is the word chosen may be interesting. Maybe it's just more a case of not being able to figure out what to call the "lawn guy" in the article or maybe they really do mean a professional "landscaper" -- as in the kind hired to do work at the school in white trucks.

I don't think he needs to be charged at all because he will be a major witness for the prosecution.

My point on the subject was why is the Oregonian protecting his identity. I feel they should release his name and photo in case anyone saw him the day Kyron disappeared.

His part of undercover work is done. The cat is out of the bag.

I'm not sure it is a crime not to report that someone asked you to do something illegal. What if you didn't even believe that the person was serious?

I think this came out as he was being interviewed, i.e. by the way, she did indicate to me one time she would like her HUSBAND killed, but no, nothing about the little boy. Why didn't you report it? I thought she was joking. I said no, and she didn't pursue it. For example.

But I'm not seeing how this makes it more likely Kyron is OK someplace. Just...not.

I'm not a lawyer, or in LE, but I'd be surprised if it was a felony to not report that type of interaction. If someone told me they were thinking about knocking off a 7-11, I don't think I'm bound by law to report it, for example. Or if someone told me they were going to buy their teenager some beer, I don't think I'm bound by any law to report it.

Does anyone here know for sure?

If what is meant is someone who designs garden plantings and trees, etc, yeah, that's a pricey service.

On the other hand, if what is meant is someone who mows the lawn, strimmers the fencelines and hauls debris, that's something that I can get done for less than $100/day.

Different couples run their finances differently but I don't think it is unreasonable to think that in a household with an annual income of around $100,000, that a couple hundred stray dollars would go unnoticed.

Besides, Kaine may very well have known about the landscaper's legal services and not known about any alleged illegal services being solicited. If you see what I mean.

Yep, I posted earlier that in Oregon a *Landscape Contractor* is very different from a landscaper/gardener/lawn guy. Landscape contracting in Oregon is highly regulated so they will certainly charge more--it's a professional service, like hiring a builder or architect. Very different from "guy with a mower"--though we have no idea at this point what qualifications TH's landscaper had. I imagine he falls somewhere in the middle of the continuum.

Unless he's, as had been implied here, ya know, a "landscaper", nudge nudge, wink wink say no more.

His annual income (salary, bonuses, employee stock) will be between 50% and 100% higher than that; hence a range of $150k-$200k. I guarantee it.

I read here (at least I'm fairly certain that's where I read it) that there was a huge ongoing landscaping project at the school and something about the trucks used in that project being white. It was a LONG time ago when people were still wondering about who all might have been around the school that day. I think someone even posted a link to the school's website about the project -- maybe there were phots. And I think it came up again when LE distributed the flier with TH and the white truck I wouldn't even know where to begin to find those discussions, though. I'm new here and I haven't been able to figure out how to use the search function very well -- much to my chagrin. There's a LOT of info here!

RC, I thought that too. But think about this also: $300,000 spent on the investigation and not once shred of progress is seen by the public. You have to bet he was getting calls about that. This way the public now knows what he's had to deal with and why all the secrecy.
