Schlatman says he mostly took his orders from Millard, and they communicated frequently through text.

Schlatman says the two didn't social that much, Millard attended his wedding and he came over twice to watch UFC.

Crown Lockhart points out Mark Smich in the courtroom. Smich is wearing a pink shirt.

"That's Mark Smich, Dell's friend," Schlatman states.
I'm just catching up.. They didn't socialize much but he attended SS wedding and gave him a car as a wedding present?

Good point and to add to it: I hear DM liked to work with the bbq in the middle of night. I am sure I hear the quote about darkness somewhere.

And 250lb machine isn't enough? How exactly is Millard expecting to get a dead 300lb hog in to that thing? Seriously, this story is so full of holes. And cmon people, SS isn't that stupid. He knew what Millard was in to at the time. SS was NOT servicing aircraft maintenance machinery. There was no aircraft maintenance happening. Did he honestly believe Millard wanted to start a pet incineration business, especially right after his failed garbage incinerator project? Sure Shayne wink wink wink.

Yep, here we go again. Dell's pals minimizing their participation in these crimes.

:blushing: awe thanks lol. I was going to tweet her and ask if it was a lax day in court today but I wouldn't want her to slow her paces ;)
while we are on break...I'm actually copying and pasting from the cbc website, not the "on a mobile device" area... can someone please teach an old dog new tricks?!? When she posts an image, how do i bring it into here? I mean, I can save in a temp file on my computer if that will work for everyone

I have no idea how you save slideshows from there. I downloaded it but there's a lot to go through - it was just pics of the Eliminator from various angles that have already been posted.

Never a problem. The garbage story is BS. Only garbage Millard produced was Chunky Soup cans and Goldfish cracker crumbs.
Garbage story is 100% BS IMHO. DM was acting like some genius hillbilly while WM was dumping millions of dollars into a state of the art MRO- I'm sure one of the professionals WM had hired to write policies & procedures etc had a section for "waste disposal" and it wouldn't have included DM walking out with a couple bags of garbage every week. DM was CEO in name only- IIRC, the aviation professionals WM had hired were working hard to get things in order.

I shutter when I look at pics of the inside of this incredible hangar and see it being used as DM's playground. No wonder AS and everyone else involved with WM thought DM to be a nuisance. Most interesting from todays testimony is SS always referring to the incinerator as the "garbage incinerator". He never seemed to mention that in his text messages. I hate to burst Rabbit's bubble, but I think her "little Lamb" is done like a skillet fried lamb chop. As far as SS is concerned, IMO, he's in "payback" mode- Rabbit kept him employed for a good year after DM's arrest and probably gave him a stellar reference for his new "forestry" job. SS is the one that has to live in his naive delusional world. He's the one that has to remember everything that he chooses not to remember for the rest of his life. MOO

There was discussion earlier about DM having a burner phone to communicate with LB, I noticed this from the timeline:

May 17 6:43 pm Smich texts Millard: “I'm sending u a freestyle just now. Other phone.

May 17 6:51 pm (after a series of texts with DM)
Smich texts Millard: “This is extra funny cuz I'm having 2 different conversations with the same person on 2 different phones.

So it looks like someone, or both of them, had an extra phone. This trick was used in another murder, Mark Sievers and his friend used burner phones. But they didn't let on about it in their 'legit' conversations.

Why would any farmer burn dead stock? They get money from the dead stock guy. Burning costs money. The only time you want to get rid of dead stock is the odd time there is a reportable disease on the farm you don't want anyone knowing about or some genetic deformity in prize breeding animal.

Don't expect SS to say anything that could implicate himself and he can't change his testimony from the last time in court a year ago.

Here's the 2011 ad for the eliminator https://www.farmshow.com/a_article.php?aid=24788

It says the 250 is for vets, funeral homes and law enforcement, the 500 is for poultry farmers.

BTW, I've chosen to cremate my pets in mass cremations. I personally don't have any attachment to their dead body once they have died and don't want to keep their ashes around. I prefer to remember them through photos.

The jury is walking back into the room now, and we'll get underway. Crown Ken Lockhart still has Shane Schlatman, Millard's mechanic, in the witness box.

Court is back for #LauraBabcock murder trial. Shane Schlatman still under direct examination by crown Ken Lockhart.

Looking at email Shane Schlatman sent to incinerator distributor Bill Penner, looking for help. Machine wouldn't stay running after it was lit. Schlatman says it was on the trailer when he was trying to get it to work.

We are seeing texts between Schlatman and Millard from July 16, 2012.

Schlatman is having trouble with the incinerator and getting it to work, so he'd reached out to the company in Winnipeg.

Millard checks in for an update, and adds: "These propane tanks may not be able to supply gas fast enough."

A later text from Millard, a day later, "Any good news on the incinerator yet?"

July 18 text messages, #Millard is still wondering about the propane problem. "these propane tanks may not be able to supply gas fast enough,' Shane writes. "That's the problem, what's the solution?" #Millard asks.

July 17, 2012, "any good news about the incinerator?" negative. Incinerator still not operational at this point. #LauraBabcock

Later July 17, 2012, Schlatman writes back that the gas line is too small.... need at least 3/4" lines from the propane tank, Schlatman tells #Millard

Photo of the trailer frame built for the incinerator. Schlatman knows because "I built it." Identifies Mark #Smich as the man beside the trailer in the photo.

More photos from inside the airport hangar:

We see the trailer as its being built, you can see Smich off to the side.

Another shows a close up of the incinerator, The Eliminator written in red across one side.

Another shot of the trailer and #Smich, Schlatman identifies the photo. Now a shot of "The Eliminator" sitting on the hangar floor. Crown points out chains looped onto the machine. "I put them on there," Schlatman says of the chains.

Lisa Hepfner‏
@HefCHCHNews
Incinerator was welded, bolted and chained onto the trailer, Schlatman testifies.

@HefCHCHNews
GMC Yukon belonging to #Millard is behind the incinerator in the photo. It had towing capabilities.... a few of Millard's vehicles could tow, Schlatman says. The Yukon could pull the Eliminator-laden trailer. So could the dually, the white van, and the green jeep, Schlatman says.
